Part 3 (of 3) - Several predictive / future references to the films of Elvis (2022) Director Baz Luhrmann may be seen in the 1973 Doctor Who serial Carnival Of Monsters (Serial 2 -Season 10 - 4 episodes). The BBC / UK science fiction story featured Jon Pertwee as the 3rd incarnation of The Doctor. An interstellar showman with collection of creatures miniaturized within a machine endangers a planet's peace when they break down the internal defenses and escape.
Spoiler Alert
- Luhrmann worked with actress Carey Mulligan on the 2013 drama The Great Gatsby. She had previously guest-starred as Sally Sparrow in the acclaimed 2007 Doctor Who episode Blink with David Tennant & Freema Agyeman. - The 1996 Romeo + Juliet director may be hinted at by name. An alien race in the story is known as "The Lurmans". - Hotel Babylon (2006-2009) actor Michael Obiora appears in Blink. Production studio Carnival Films (also known for Downton Abbey) produced the series. I thought this connection may be a nod to the 1973 who episode. Dexter Fletcher played concierge Tony in this (and had appeared in The Bounty (1984).) - Vorg plays the traveling entertainer in Carnival Of Monsters, I thought this a possible future nod to Jackman in The Greatest Showman in 2017. - A possible time sensitive easter egg to the mid 1990's may be hinted at in "Carnival", The Tardis materializes onboard a ocean going ship in 1926. I thought this may reference Gatsby & Romeo + Juliet actor Leonardo DiCaprio who was in the James Cameron disaster film Titanic in 1997. - The writing technique of Blink scribe & former Doctor Who show runner Steven Moffat may be hinted at in the course of the '73 serial. His other early writing examples in the series included "The Doctor Dances" (2005) & "The Girl In The Fireplace" (2006). He often depicts two completely different worlds (or dimensional constructs) co-existing side-by-side, separated by a simple doorway. When The Doctor & Joe land on the ship in 1926, they quickly must escape through a hatch in the deck. This leads to what looks like the inside of a giant computer. The Doctor realizes they are inside a miniscope and that different captured and miniaturized habitats coexist with secret passages interlinking them. - The aliens in Carnival Of Monsters use a large beam rifle called "the eradicator". In certain slang and parlance the word "GAT" can be a synonym for a "GUN". I thought this perhaps a future nod to the title "The Great Gatsby". - The shape and design of the miniscope machine itself may be inspired by a mod piece of furniture introduced in the 1960s called the Ball chair. The chair is shown frequently throughout the 17 episode spy TV series The Prisoner (1967-1968) starring Patrick McGoohan. - Taking the above reference, Actor Steve Bisley (of The Great Gatsby) also worked with Mel Gibson on George Miller's 1979 dystopian action film Mad Max. Gibson played thirteenth century Scottish hero William Wallace in Braveheart (1995).
00:00We're talking about knowledge of the future in movies, YouTube channel, Easter Egg Psychic.
00:05In this video, I'll show possible future predictive Easter eggs and references to movie director Baz Luhrmann.
00:13And there are several good ones in here.
00:14You can see this in the classic Doctor Who television serial, Carnival of Monsters, Serial 2, Episode 10, broadcast in 1973.
00:25The British science fiction series, the cast of this included John Pertwee as the third Doctor, Katie Manning as assistant and companion, Joe Grant.
00:36Guest appearances include Leslie Dwyer as Vorg, Cheryl Hall as Sherna, and Ian Murder as John Andrews.
00:45So the story of this episode is somewhat complicated because it covers various skills and delves into multidimensionality, worlds within worlds,
00:56which is a hallmark of the Who series, if you understand the workings of the TARDIS police box time machine.
01:04Spoiler alert.
01:05So in this story, the TARDIS materializes within what they call a miniscope.
01:12And this is basically a machine that miniaturizes creatures along with representations of their natural environments.
01:21So to set this up, Luhrmann has some links to Doctor Who.
01:26A very good example would be actress Carrie Mulligan.
01:29And she was in the director's 2013 romantic drama film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby.
01:42And also in this cast, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, and Steve Bisley.
01:49Carrie Mulligan played a very important character in the new Doctor Who series.
01:56She was Sally Sparrow.
01:58In the 2007 episode, Blink, written by Stephen Moffat.
02:02It was Series 3, Episode 10, with David Tennant as the 10th Doctor and Freeman Aguiman as companion Martha Jones.
02:11Alright, so back to Carnival of Monsters, 1973.
02:16And there is an interesting hint to Baz Luhrmann by name.
02:22And this would be that one of the alien races shown in the serial are also called Luhrmanns.
02:29The same pronunciation, different spelling.
02:32There may be a Tommy Whammy Easter egg linking two Carnival of Monsters in 1973 in Blink, 2007.
02:42Also making a guest appearance in this episode, actor Michael Obiora, who was known at the time for playing Ben, the receptionist, in Hotel Babylon.
02:56Also broadcast on the BBC.
02:59And also in this series, Dexter Fletcher, who worked with Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins in The Bounty in 1984.
03:07Max Beasley and Emma Pearson were also in this.
03:12The clue is that Hotel Babylon was produced by Carnival Films.
03:16But probably better known for their next big production, and that was Downton Abbey.
03:21Vorg plays the alien showman in Carnival of Monsters.
03:27A possible link involving an actor who worked with Baz Luhrmann, Hugh Jackman, who was the greatest showman in 2017 in a musical drama.
03:37Which also included actors Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya.
03:44So in the opening of Carnival of Monsters, the TARDIS materializes on an earth sailing vessel or ocean going ship in 1926.
03:55I thought this possible reference a time-specific indicator.
04:02The year may be sometime in the mid-90s, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who starred in Lerman's retelling of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
04:14This was out in 1996 with Claire Dane, Brian Dennehy, Paul Sorvino, John Leguizamo.
04:22And following this, Leonardo DiCaprio was in James Cameron's Titanic in 97, based on the ship sinking disaster.
04:33This was directed by James Cameron with Katie Winslet, Billy Zane.
04:37My YouTube channel is Easter Egg Psychic.
04:39There I go back and look at movies and television from the past to analyze these for possible references to future media.
04:46These may appear in the form of anecdotes, idioms, anagrams.
04:50Hidden in the subtext of the work in question, I also use an unconventional method where I look at the likenesses of the actors.
04:58And what I found is you can take the likenesses, match these up to some of the anecdotal items,
05:05and show past, present, and future information about actors and other personalities
05:11that may resemble the personalities in the movie or television episode that you're watching.
