Kevin Costner has confirmed that he won't be returning to 'Yellowstone.' The actor said on social media, "I just realized that I'm not going to be able to continue" and that he's focused on his Western movie series 'Horizon: An American Saga.'

00:03The actor shared the news in a video that he posted to social media Thursday.

00:08I just realized that I'm not going to be able to continue season 5B or into the future.

00:14He said the realization came after working on his western film series,

00:17Horizon, an American saga for the last year and a half.

00:20Costner went on to say this about working on Yellowstone.

00:23It was something that really changed me.

00:26I loved it and I know you loved it.

00:28And I just wanted to let you know that I won't be returning.

00:32He also shared this message with his fans.

00:35I love the relationship we've been able to develop and I'll see you at the movies.

00:39This news comes as Horizon, an American saga, chapter 1 hits theaters on June 28th.

00:44Chapter 2 follows quickly, opening in theaters August 16th.

00:48As for Yellowstone, the second half of season 5 will debut November 10th.

00:52There remained lingering hopes that Costner would return as John Dutton,

00:54although it was extremely unlikely that he would be featured in season 5

00:58as those episodes are already filming and Costner has been busy with Horizon.
