00:00Kevin Costner has finally commented on his Yellowstone fate.
00:04While at CinemaCon promoting his upcoming film Horizon An American Saga,
00:08the actor was asked whether he'd return to the It Paramount Network drama
00:11after his turbulent apparent departure from the series.
00:15Here's what he told Entertainment Tonight.
00:16I'd like to be able to do it, but we haven't been able to.
00:19I'm not sure how it's being worked out.
00:21See, you know, I've loved making that series.
00:25He went on to say,
00:26I made five seasons of it.
00:27I thought I was going to make seven, but right now we are at five.
00:31So how it works out, I hope it does,
00:34but they've got a lot of different shows going on.
00:37Maybe this will circle back to me.
00:39If it does and I feel really comfortable with it, I'd love to do it.
00:43That comment about being comfortable is perhaps a bit of a crux,
00:46as reportedly Costner has wanted to approve his character,
00:49John Dutton's fate, in the show.
00:51But co-creator Taylor Sheridan, like most showrunners,
00:54doesn't typically allow actors to determine their own storylines.
00:56Costner said this about how he hopes Dutton's story ends.
01:00He needs to be proactive in what happens.
01:02And I've kind of had my own fantasy how it might be,
01:07but that's Taylor's thing.
01:09I've said as much to him.
01:11He concluded by saying,
01:12I had thoughts how it could happen, but we just have to see.
01:15Time is running out on a deal being struck.
01:18While Yellowstone hasn't announced a start of production date,
01:20filming is expected to get underway soon,
01:22and the scripts are already written for the second half of season five,
01:25which will close the book on the flagship series.
01:28As for Horizon,
01:29Costner's own western is expected to premiere at Cannes next month.
