In this video, Michelle Obama breaks down the fashion philosophy behind her iconic "fly suit." Find out why she dismisses over-analysis and how the right outfit makes her feel "unconstrained" and powerful on stage.
00:00It's just a fly suit. You know, what did it say? That's a good suit. That's the first thing. That's usually the first reason I put something on. It's like, oh my God, that's bad. So that was my first reaction. And then all the other symbolism. See, stuff like that is like, what was she trying to say with a crisscross and was it Wakanda? I was like, no, it's cute. Didn't you see how that, that was just so cute. It just looks good.
00:25And I felt, I felt unconstrained. And I know how I want to feel when I'm doing work. And I could feel myself standing on stage, you know, saying the words that I wanted to say.
