00:00Christian, is it getting harder to sell airplanes to this part of the world if you are Airbus?
00:05No, it isn't. We're very successful around the world, including in this region.
00:13It's true that our backlog extends so far forward that it is getting a little bit more difficult to convince customers to buy airplanes 10 years in advance.
00:24But no, I wouldn't differentiate this part of the world from any other.
00:27So President Trump, who has had a meaningful impact in terms of sales of your competitor in this region in the last year, is not having an effect at this point.
00:36It is having an effect on the number of orders that our competitor is benefiting from.
00:42But it doesn't change the path, the successful path of Airbus selling airplanes around the world.
00:48Do you have to work harder, though, because of that factor?
00:51Do you have to be more competitive? Do you have to be more price competitive, more efficient, whatever it is, to overcome that?
00:57That's an interesting point.
00:59What I'm telling myself and my colleagues is, well, in the face of these forces, we just have to continue to be better, to be more innovative, to respond to our customers' needs.
01:12And yeah, but that's a healthy thing.
01:13But he is making a difference.
01:15In terms of volumes.
01:16Yeah, in terms of sales.
01:17In terms of volumes, yes, but it does not change the fact that Airbus is nearing 9,000 aircraft on backlog and is serving our customers very, very well and we're quite successful in the market.
01:31Is he the biggest problem or is your Achilles heel Rolls-Royce engines at the moment in this region?
01:39Your aircraft might be good, but are the Rolls-Royce engines holding you back?
01:41I wouldn't call it an Achilles heel, quite on the contrary.
01:45We're very, very happy with the engines that equip our aircraft, be it the Trent 7000 on the 330 and then the Trent 84K and 97K, as we refer to them, on the A350.
01:58Very, very good engines.
02:00We have, indeed, an engine improvement program that is coming live now, very, very soon, on the 97K that's going to make the engine even better in the challenging environment, for example, in the meetings.
02:14Enough to make Tim Clark over at Emirates want to buy the aeroplane?
02:17Well, that's a question you have to address to Tim.
02:20But we've listened to him, to other customers.
02:23The engine is being improved and Rolls-Royce is about to verify the testing on the engine.
02:30We're very hopeful.
02:31It'll be a great engine.
02:32It already is around the world.
02:34It will be for this region.
