00:06Mi mente es clear, mi corazón es full.
00:08¡Uy!
00:09No he estado tan nervioso desde la Texas producción de Les Mis.
00:12¿Es esto realmente está sucediendo?
00:14¡Hola?
00:16¡Hey!
00:18¡Hola!
00:19¡I heardí!
00:20¡Es esto está sucediendo?
00:21¡No, es realmente está sucediendo!
00:22¡Allí, ya!
00:23¡Relax!
00:24¡You got this!
00:25¡I got you!
00:26¡Como!
00:27¡Let's go!
00:30From the heart of New York City, it's Today with Jenna and Friends.
00:35With today's guest co-host, Golden Globe winning actress, Taraji P. Henson.
00:41The fun starts right now.
00:48Hi everyone, it is Monday, January the 13th.
00:53Welcome to Jenna and Friends and helping to kick off our very fun show, The Queen.
00:59The one, the only Taraji P. Henson.
01:03Yay!
01:04Taraji, thank you.
01:06I mean, I've said it before and I'll say it a million times.
01:10Thank you so much for being here.
01:12Thanks for having me.
01:13I know you're here and also your heart is in L.A.
01:17Oh my goodness.
01:19Yeah, I'm just thinking about everyone.
01:22It's horrible what's happening out there and you know I'm the mental health advocate and my heart is just with everyone who is suffering, who has lost anything.
01:31People who don't even know what to do and people who are still scared if they don't know that the fires are going to affect them.
01:38It's just, it's a time where we all need to help each other and there are so many people stepping up to help, including my organization, the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation.
01:47Yes.
01:48And you can go to today.com for more information on how you can help.
01:51Yeah.
01:52I mean, it's so sad and I'm so glad to be here with you though.
01:55Yes, well thank you.
01:56Thank you.
01:57Because this is a great opportunity.
01:58We're humans need humans.
01:59Yes.
02:00And we step up and we bring the world joy.
02:02We can't all go dark.
02:03Yeah.
02:04I know your foundation is named after your dad.
02:07Yes.
02:08Is that right?
02:09It is.
02:10And I listened to a conversation where you said he always believed in you.
02:13Yes.
02:14Like he believed in you before anybody and would say, okay, when you go and you win that Oscar.
02:18He was telling me about an Oscar when I was a kid and I didn't even know what an Oscar.
02:22Who is Oscar?
02:23Is he in my classroom?
02:25So, I mean, you know, he just taught me, you know, the advantages of sowing into your
02:33children and planting those seeds because I'm a direct, you know, outcome of him saying
02:41this is what you're going to do and I believed him.
02:43He believed in you.
02:44Yeah.
02:45He had the highest expectations and you're here and you were our dream.
02:48Oh, thank you.
02:49I mean, and I'll say even Hoda, she would say, oh my God, Taraji, would she ever do it?
02:53And the fact that you're here today when I know your beloved city is hurting and you could
02:58be anywhere, but you're bringing joy and goodness.
03:01It's important.
03:02It's important.
03:03Yeah.
03:04It means a lot to me and it's our first day, which is a little crazy.
03:08Yeah, how do you feel?
03:09How do you feel?
03:10How do you feel?
03:11The butterflies gone?
03:12You saw me in that room terribly acting.
03:14That you know what?
03:16It's like when you have a team like this team, which you've met them this morning and we have
03:21built a show Hoda and I that feels like something I'm proud of.
03:26It feels exciting.
03:27I mean, I was a child bride.
03:29I got married at 26 years, not too child, but childish.
03:32Yeah, that's pretty much.
03:33That's pretty a child bride, right?
03:34Yeah.
03:35When you look back.
03:36And so I haven't like dated.
03:38And that's this is kind of my dating era and you're my first date.
03:42But for sure and you know we have to tell everybody to change your DVR settings.
03:51We're now Jenna and friends.
03:53Jenna and friends.
03:54Jenna and friends.
03:55Okay, well, let's get to the chat.
03:58So USA Today is out with their most anticipated concerts of 2025.
04:02A lot of people are going on tour.
04:04It looks like Post Malone, Usher, Usher.
04:07Usher.
04:08Have you seen Usher?
04:09I've seen Usher several times.
04:11I'm sure.
04:12And we were.
04:14I he like kind of serrate, you know, Sarah.
04:18How did you contain yourself?
04:19We could.
04:20Oh, yeah, I've seen Usher.
04:21Oh, wait.
04:22Excuse me.
04:23You've seen Usher.
04:24I've seen Usher several times.
04:25How did you contain yourself?
04:26I didn't.
04:28Look, clearly.
04:29Oh, my gosh, but you kicked off your new year with Janet Jackson.
04:35Oh, my goodness.
04:36Was it amazing?
04:37It was so amazing.
04:38And for me, I needed that nostalgia.
04:40Yeah.
04:41You know, when it seems like everything's going topsy-turvy.
04:43Yes.
04:44Look at me and I, oh, we're holding hands.
04:47I never washed that hand again.
04:49Were you a Janet Jackson like as a kid?
04:51Were you obsessed?
04:52Of course.
04:53Janet was our Beyonce.
04:54Yes.
04:55Are you kidding me?
04:56Yes, me too.
04:57That era.
04:58I got my earring with the key on it.
04:59Yeah.
05:00Everything.
05:01I dyed my hair red when she did the velvet rope.
05:04I was there for it all.
05:06And you saw I was dressed sort of like-
05:07Yes, you were.
05:08I love that.
05:09Janet did it.
05:10Well, she was the end all and be all.
05:11So that concert was so much fun.
05:13It was incredible.
05:14Like I said, it was this overwhelming feeling of nostalgia.
05:17Like, yeah, I'm all the songs took me to a good place.
05:21It was a great way to bring in 2025.
05:23Well, there's rumors that Beyonce's there's she's supposedly the
05:27beehive is saying that tomorrow she's going to announce something
05:30big.
05:31I believe them.
05:32You believe them?
05:33So what you think she's going on tour?
05:34I think she's going to go on tour.
05:35I hope so.
05:36This album-
05:37She's been very unconventional though.
05:38Yeah.
05:39You know, she's been very giving us surprises and doing
05:41things a bit like unconventional.
05:43So I really don't know, but I think it might be the Cowboy Carter
05:46too.
05:47Yes.
05:48Did you love that album?
05:49You know what?
05:50I'm not a huge country.
05:52Yeah.
05:53But I love what she did to country.
05:55How really was it?
05:56It was just amazing.
05:58And what she did was introduce me to a lot of country music that I
06:03wouldn't have never listened to.
06:04So that was incredible the way she activated country music.
06:07Well, we loved it.
06:08Okay.
06:09Well, we thought it might be a good idea to get to know each other
06:11a little better this day from dating on TV.
06:13Okay.
06:14We're calling Best Friends 5.
06:17Oh.
06:18I've never played this game.
06:19Oh, we have props.
06:20We have props.
06:21What are these briefcases?
06:22Oh, wow.
06:23Looks like we're going on a heist.
06:24But okay.
06:25So our producers asked each of us the same 5 questions.
06:28Okay.
06:29We answered them separately.
06:30All right.
06:31And the answers are here on the cards.
06:33So, all right.
06:34Should we do it?
06:35I mean, I'm like, what are our questions?
06:37So here's the first question ready.
06:39The first question.
06:40Do you prefer a lot.
06:42Or happy hour.
06:44Happy hour for a bunch of happy hour.
06:47Okay, 1, 2, 3.
06:48Happy hour.
06:50Let's go.
06:51Happy hour.
06:52Besties already.
06:54I'm not into brunch.
06:55I don't want to eat that heavy that early in the day.
06:58I'm in for a brunch of bottomless mimosas.
07:01Okay, okay.
07:02All right, the next one.
07:05Sneakers or heels?
07:06Sneakers or heels?
07:07I think we got the same.
07:09Sneakers!
07:10I want to be comfortable.
07:13Oh, but those heels are horrible.
07:15In fact, you don't see my feet.
07:16I might kick these off.
07:17Let's go.
07:19All right, FaceTime or phone call.
07:22Ready?
07:23Phone call.
07:24Oh, my gosh.
07:25You know what?
07:26We are besties.
07:28We are.
07:29Yeah, when they FaceTime walking around on the streets
07:32and I run into people.
07:33And then I have a friend, Tasha Smith.
07:35Yes, I'm putting you on blast and I know you're watching.
07:38She, I called her the other day.
07:40I FaceTimed her.
07:41Johnny Gill answered the phone.
07:43I was like, I didn't call, Johnny.
07:44I called you.
07:45I had a rag on my head.
07:47I was still in the bed.
07:48Tasha.
07:49Anyway, the next question is, the next question is dancing solo
07:54or dancing with a partner?
07:55Okay, let's go.
07:56Dancing with a partner.
07:57Oh, solo.
07:58Yeah, because I can't, you know, if we didn't practice the dance move, you're not going to embarrass
08:02me.
08:03I'm not going to embarrass me.
08:04Yeah, so you like to be out there.
08:05By the way, my partners, I mean, yes, I'll dance with my husband, but like I want, I like
08:10going out dancing with girlfriends.
08:12I haven't done it in a long time.
08:13That is fun.
08:14That is fun.
08:15Absolutely, that's fun.
08:16Okay, but sometimes they step on your feet.
08:17That's true.
08:18All right, finally shots or cocktails.
08:19I think I know we're going to not.
08:20We're not going to get ready.
08:21Cocktails.
08:22I don't like shots.
08:23I don't like shots.
08:24I don't like shots.
08:25I don't like shots.
08:26I don't like shots.
08:27I don't like shots.
08:28I don't like shots.
08:29It gets me there too fast.
08:30Yeah, it does and it doesn't taste good.
08:31Plus you've got a wine which is what we should have just written.
08:35We can shoot that you can totally shoot. Okay, let's do that.
08:48All right, you guys we have a great show for you today fashion designer to the
08:52stars.
08:53Seriano is here plus music superstars the weekend is making.
08:58That's the investors here with the scoop right after.
09:05Yeah.
09:10Patriots here you ready for some pop culture headline let's do it.
09:15But not in.
09:17It's just the investors here with the scoop. All right, so just and
09:21tragedy and I already we're talking about these fires talk about how some of
09:26the celebs are coming out to help you guys we have some real life superheroes
09:29in Hollywood.
09:30I got to say and one of the stories is touching me deeply.
09:34It all started when Sharon Stone posted on her IG that her friend Jenna
09:38Cooper was opening up her store for donations for displaced people.
09:43Thousands of people activated.
09:45One being Miss Halle Berry her Catwoman co-star.
09:49Now Halle Berry said hold my purse.
09:51She went to her house.
09:53She packed up her entire closet.
09:56Now try to cover your ears.
09:58Celebrities can be hoarder sometimes.
10:00They got a lot of clothes.
10:01They take all the designer stuff.
10:03So you know all those great pieces went to people in need.
10:07Yeah.
10:08That's amazing.
10:09It was insane.
10:10And then we have a lot of celebs coming out the woodwork donating cash.
10:13You have Jennifer Garner who's doing the world's central kitchen.
10:16She's taking food from restaurants to first responders.
10:19Jamie Lee Curtis gave a million dollars.
10:22Yeah.
10:23And Beyonce woke up this morning and chose Grace 2.5 million.
10:29Wow.
10:30That's amazing.
10:31Now this can be tricky for celebrities because people say why do you have to tell people what you're doing for charity.
10:35No.
10:36We need this.
10:37Because when celebrities do this one it inspires other people to give.
10:40Yeah.
10:41And two it lets people know that these places have been vetted.
10:45These people have looked into it.
10:46Yes.
10:47And you can trust them.
10:48And we put on our website all of the organizations that have been vetted.
10:52Because we know people want to help.
10:53For sure.
10:54And we should say those firefighters and first responders are in our hearts too.
10:58Absolutely.
10:59The work they're doing.
11:00The work they're doing.
11:01Absolutely.
11:02Okay.
11:03So The Weeknd.
11:04Talk to us about this.
11:05And we're not just talking about our weekend.
11:06Right.
11:07Speaking of concert tickets.
11:08Y'all better get The Weeknd's concert tickets.
11:09Because me and I have seen The Weeknd for a while.
11:12So The Weeknd is in variety.
11:14He is on the cover.
11:15His new album's coming out.
11:17And he's talking about that this might be his last album under his stage name.
11:22He says he just wants to go by Abel after this because he said his 2022 was so bad it mentally
11:30broke him down.
11:31Oh gosh.
11:32Wow.
11:33So that name is even triggering.
11:34Yeah.
11:35That name is triggering.
11:36Exactly.
11:37Wow.
11:38I understand that.
11:39And we see a lot of stars.
11:40Right?
11:41Yeah.
11:42Yeah.
11:43Well you know Prince did it before but his was a contract thing.
11:44Yeah.
11:45When he went by just the sign.
11:46Yes.
11:47Yes.
11:48But his had to do a lot with the contract.
11:49I know.
11:50Have we even seen any other stars do this?
11:51Yeah.
11:52You know we saw 50 Cent start going by Curtis Jackson.
11:54Oh yeah.
11:55Oh yeah.
11:56Ludacris.
11:57For acting.
11:58Yeah.
11:59This is specific.
12:00This is specific.
12:01It's like he's closing a chapter that didn't feel good to him mentally in his life.
12:04Yeah.
12:05Exactly.
12:06And in music.
12:07It's not like he's going to act.
12:08Yeah.
12:09Well superstars, especially music stars, people want you to be that stage persona.
12:12And I think that's why a lot of music stars struggle with addiction, struggle with depression
12:17because they can't turn it off.
12:19Well they're also human.
12:20Yes.
12:21And people forget.
12:22Yeah.
12:23That's why they go with their real names.
12:24Okay.
12:25So Glenn Close.
12:26Yeah, it is interesting.
12:27Well let us keep us posted and we know Glenn Close just revealed her best on screen kiss.
12:31Let me tell you something.
12:32Glenn Close is at that age where you realize that you've lived so long.
12:36You don't care.
12:37Tell it all.
12:38Then you can tell everything.
12:39Who cares.
12:40Okay.
12:41Whoo.
12:42She was on Watch What Happens Live, honey.
12:43And Andy Cohen asked her who was her best on screen kiss.
12:47Glenn Close did not even hesitate.
12:49She didn't even let the question finish.
12:51Look at what she said.
12:53I was like Robert Redford.
12:54Really?
12:55In the natural.
12:56In the natural.
12:57And I only got to kiss him once.
13:00Only one take?
13:02Only one take?
13:03No, no.
13:04Maybe we did two takes.
13:05Right.
13:06But I also threw him out of my apartment in that movie.
13:08Right.
13:09Right.
13:10But I ended up with him.
13:11Yes.
13:12What?
13:13They dated?
13:14Wait a minute.
13:15Hold on.
13:16Hold on.
13:17Hold on.
13:18Hold on.
13:19First of all, Glenn has been thinking about this kiss since 1984.
13:20Really?
13:21It's been on her lips since 1984.
13:23The way she said it too was very dreamy.
13:27Like she was reliving it.
13:29Yes.
13:30But then they date him?
13:31Yes.
13:32But then they date him?
13:33No, in the movie she kisses him and throws him out of the apartment.
13:36And she kicked him out of the house.
13:37We didn't misunderstand.
13:38We know we was trying to get dirty.
13:39Right.
13:40We have to wait for the book for that.
13:41Oh God, that was so good.
13:42You see how rumors get started?
13:43Exactly.
13:44Taraji said it, not me, Glenn.
13:46You know, uh-uh.
13:47All right.
13:48Well, Justin, you're the best.
13:49Yes, you are.
13:50And y'all can catch Justin weeknights at 11 on our sister network, E.
13:54Up next, superstar designer Christian Siriano.
13:57Yeah, he's going to share the stories behind some of his most famous red carpet looks.
14:02That's right after this.
14:03Good job, Justin.
14:04You're great job.
14:06Coming up tomorrow on Jenna and Friends, actress and producer Eva Longoria is my guest co-host.
14:13Plus actor Dennis Leary will tell us about his new show.
14:16And Alejandro Ramos brings us the latest trends in entertaining.
14:19That's all Tuesday on Jenna and Friends.
14:22For more than 15 years, fashion designer Christian Siriano has been dressing stars like Oprah,
14:28Celine Dion and our girl Taraji, look how fab she looks in this suit.
14:33Yes, I'm not on the wall, but it's okay.
14:35And I'm also not in the book, but it's okay.
14:38I'll be in the second installment.
14:40Now, in his book, The New Red Carpet, he's sharing the stories behind some of his buzziest red carpet moments.
14:48And Christian, we're so happy you're here.
14:50Yes, welcome.
14:51You both look stunning.
14:52Thank you.
14:53White and Gordon.
14:54Thank you.
14:55I know we would have worn your, you know what, had you sent some suits, we would have worn them.
14:57I'm on it for the next book.
14:58Listen, next time.
14:59You know, we were looking through this book and you have dressed some of the culture's most important women.
15:06That must feel like such a privilege, right?
15:08Yeah, all these years later.
15:09I mean, I've done so many red carpets over the years.
15:11And, but it's so wonderful to see like, you know, like moments like, you know, Quinta Bronson winning her first Golden Globe or Hannah winning her first Emmy or like seeing moments like that.
15:18And those are things that are in the book and the stories about it.
15:22I think make it not just about clothes, you know, it's a little more special.
15:25Yeah.
15:26Yeah, it's nice.
15:27Do you ever get nervous for carpets?
15:29I mean, I do more for them, for you, you know, like, you know, it's a lot of pressure sometimes and people can judge so quickly.
15:35Oh, dude, you know, am I calm down.
15:38I feel like we have.
15:39A beautiful dress.
15:40We're having fun.
15:41Like what I just did for Melissa McCarthy at the Golden Globes was like, well, she just wanted to look like a cake.
15:46And we were like, let's have fun.
15:47You know, it's not always so serious.
15:49Well, and fashion should be fun.
15:50Oh, my God.
15:51I thought she looks absolutely amazing.
15:56And she was like, I want to wear a jumpsuit.
15:58I want to be comfortable.
15:59I'm just presenting.
16:00Like, you know, it's always about also the timing and what's appropriate for the person.
16:04And Melissa is a fun, amazing comedian.
16:07She didn't need to take it so seriously.
16:09You dress seven women.
16:10Is that right for the Golden Globes?
16:11That's a lot.
16:12That's a lot, right?
16:13That's stressful.
16:14It was a lot.
16:15And, like, running from their houses in the morning.
16:16And I'm not a stylist.
16:17Like, I created it.
16:18So it's so different for me.
16:19Yeah.
16:20Because not a lot of designers do that.
16:22But it does make it feel a bit more real and not that a, you know, I don't know.
16:26Sometimes, like, we work so hard in the clothes and we never know what happens to them.
16:29Yeah.
16:30Like, really.
16:31Like, I had to dig this out from Ariana.
16:32I'm like, come on, girl.
16:33Give me your gown back.
16:34No, she wore this from the Time 100 and it was a long time ago.
16:39So we had to find the archives.
16:40Yeah, exactly.
16:41So you recently dressed our little princess, Blue Ivy, for the Mufasa film.
16:47Yeah.
16:48We made that in two days.
16:49Two days?
16:50Actually, honestly, we really, they're probably going to kill me.
16:53We made it in, like, a day.
16:55Because, you know, when the team calls, you do it.
16:58Yeah.
16:59And for Blue Ivy, we do anything.
17:00You do anything.
17:01It's so beautiful.
17:03I thought she was age-appropriate.
17:06Totally.
17:07She looks like a princess.
17:09And for anybody that says differently.
17:10People need to shut up.
17:11Yeah, we say bye.
17:12Literally, I was like, I was like, okay.
17:14It was very classy.
17:15It really was.
17:16What girl doesn't want to be, have a princess moment?
17:19Yeah.
17:20And when your parents are Beyonce and Jay-Z, what are you supposed to wear?
17:22Yeah, exactly.
17:23Like, you're not going to wear a tutu.
17:24Exactly.
17:25You want to look like a star.
17:26Oh, my goodness.
17:27Because she is one and she's amazing.
17:28I just wish we would just keep sometimes our opinions to ourselves.
17:31That's a child.
17:32I know.
17:33Exactly.
17:34And kindness matters most of all.
17:35Yes, kindness really matters.
17:36And it's not as easy to do.
17:38You can sit on your phone and Twitter your thumbs all you want to.
17:41And let's see you get on that red carpet.
17:42Yeah, exactly.
17:43And pull off a look.
17:44Exactly.
17:45And a lot of pressure for her.
17:46So I think she wanted to feel like she loves a ball gown and wanted to feel like a princess.
17:50It also looked like the Lion King.
17:52It looks like what she should be wearing.
17:55It was very appropriate.
17:56You brought us these two dresses.
17:57We were looking for Taraji's suit.
17:59It's in the back being pressed.
18:02Tell us about these looks.
18:04This is Lady Gaga's look.
18:05And it's so cool because these are actually their clothes.
18:07So it's fun to see them in person.
18:09And there's no makeup stains.
18:10But Gaga wore this.
18:11She was filming with Tony Bennett.
18:12And it's so funny because it got more attention, her walking out of the hotel,
18:16than actually the shooting with Tony.
18:18So I was like, listen, it was such a fun moment.
18:20And Gaga always has so much fun with her.
18:22That is fast.
18:23It's incredible.
18:24Would you do that again?
18:25Yes.
18:26Can I have that?
18:27Yes, no problem.
18:28Any color.
18:29We just want to make sure we can make dreams come true.
18:31And this is Ariana's dress.
18:33And Ariana wore this at the Time 100 Gala.
18:35She's having such a moment.
18:36She was performing that night.
18:37And it's one of my favorite videos of her performing.
18:39Because I think when you see the clothes like this move on stage, it's also so amazing.
18:44And I've dressed Ariana for years.
18:46And I'm still waiting for my other red carpet moment, Ariana.
18:50So we'll talk next week.
18:51By the way, it should be coming soon.
18:53Very soon.
18:54Soon Wicked was amazing.
18:55Amazing.
18:56Yes, it was.
18:57And that dress, I mean, you create art, Christian.
18:59And it's really, really amazing.
19:00It's nice to see, you know, sometimes, like, everything has a little bit of sculpture
19:03and movement.
19:04But I think it's always also for the person.
19:06You know, not one of these women are the same.
19:08Yeah.
19:09There are different ages, sizes.
19:11And we do that because I think it's very important to show that as a designer, you can
19:16do that.
19:17Yes.
19:18And I think it's annoying that others don't sometimes because it's so look at
19:21the representation.
19:22It's like so wonderful to see, you know, and fabulous clothes.
19:25Yeah, exactly.
19:26You're a dream.
19:27I'm looking at Taraji on the wall over there and it's so major.
19:30Yeah, that suit is one of my favorites.
19:33It should have made the book.
19:34It's in the book.
19:35It's in the new edition of the book.
19:37It's in the book.
19:38It's in the new edition of the book.
19:39It's in the book.
19:40It's in the book.
19:41It's in the book.
19:42Part 2.
19:43Part 2.
19:44And y'all come out.
19:45Thank you, Christian.
19:46Y'all can check out Christian's book.
19:47The new red carpet at today.com slash books.
19:48Up next, a very special treat.
19:49We promise you're going to love right after this.
19:51And maybe for you, Taraji.
19:53Oh!
19:54For me?
19:55Maybe.
19:56Okay, Taraji, we love surprises around here and this one is for you.
20:03A few months back, you posted a video on your Instagram.
20:05About my Birkin bag and you got me a new one.
20:07Woo!
20:08I'm joking.
20:09I'm joking.
20:10Okay, I'm focused.
20:11With this group of amazing dancers.
20:13Oh my God.
20:14We know they caught your eye.
20:15Well, guess what?
20:16We caught up with the G Girls in Miami and they are just as incredible off the dance floor
20:20as they are on.
20:21Take a look.
20:22Yes, girls!
20:25When you think of the G Girls, you think dynamic, powerful, beautiful, avant-garde,
20:32extraordinary, intelligent, bold, bodacious. Sorry, y'all don't have to edit this stuff out.
20:39You hear me?
20:40For 17 years, Tracy Young Byron has been dance director of Miami Northwestern's G Girls.
20:46You better, you better, you better.
20:48And she's like a proud dance mom for good reason.
20:51I feel like we're the blueprint. Everybody wants to be a G Girl.
20:55Let's go, let's go, let's go. Smooth like butter. Pretty like a mother.
20:59The team prides themselves on being the most sought after dance squad in the region and has
21:04even gone viral.
21:05The G Girls are immaculate. We cover not just one style of dance, we do everything.
21:11And it's shown on the field, in the stands, in our tunnels.
21:14Our dance team is different from other dance teams by the way we move, how we hold ourselves as young ladies.
21:20But outside of dance, they're just as impressive.
21:23Mrs. Young Byron holds the highest standard for us.
21:25Most high schools require students to have a 2.0 GPA, right?
21:29A 2.0 we know is a C average. There's nothing average about what they do.
21:33So I require a 3.5, right? All of my girls have to be on the National Honor Society, have to be on the honor roll.
21:39I have a 99.9% college acceptance rate and graduation. Not just go, they go and they graduate.
21:45I'm very proud of that.
21:46Beyond their achievements, the G Girls have created a beautiful sisterhood.
21:50I care for them as if they are my own little sisters. I am an only child, so I don't have any siblings, but I couldn't be more grateful to have them.
21:59You know, I take care of them whenever they need me, I'm there for them.
22:02And then also just my big sisters as well, all the alumni, because without them, where would we be?
22:08Paving the path for the next generation of empowered women, one step at a time.
22:14This dance team has taught me so many lessons outside of dance.
22:17It's taught me discipline, time management, how to be a part of a team.
22:22You know, most dance teachers only care about how their dances look in the studio and on the field.
22:27But for me, that's just a small part of it. I'm more invested in the whole person.
22:32A lot of times they want to be like me, but I want them to be better than me.
22:40I just show you that they had to be here.
22:42Come on out, you guys.
22:45Young Byron and the TV Girls dance team.
22:48Yes, y'all better walk.
22:51Tracy, I mean, look at that.
22:55Tracy, you are amazing.
22:59Thank you.
23:00You have created something so incredible.
23:03These women have done everything.
23:05When they caught Taraji's eye, what went through y'all's mind?
23:09So for me, I just feel like you're such a staple in our community.
23:12We love you.
23:13Thank you.
23:14We honor you and respect you.
23:15I think to have a person of your caliber to repost them and to show them love just shows us that we're those girls.
23:20Literally those girls.
23:22Because you are the top of the top of the creme de la creme.
23:25We love you so much that even one of my dances were named after you.
23:28What?
23:29This is Taraji.
23:30Her name is Taraji.
23:31Taraji.
23:32And her mom named her after you.
23:33Yes, her real name is Taraji.
23:34Taraji.
23:35Oh, my gosh.
23:36Give Taraji a hug.
23:37That's sweet, baby.
23:38Yes.
23:39Oh, my goodness.
23:40Taraji, that's sweet.
23:41Hi.
23:42All the babies.
23:43Hi.
23:44All the babies.
23:45Hi.
23:46All the babies.
23:47Oh, my goodness.
23:48Hey.
23:49Hey.
23:50Hey, girl.
23:51Oh, girl.
23:52Oh, my gosh.
23:53But that's what I love most about what you do.
23:55Yes.
23:56It's about the dancing.
23:57Yes, it's about the cheering and all of that.
23:59But it's the sisterhood that you're teaching.
24:01Yes.
24:02That's going to take you far in life.
24:03I'm getting so overwhelmed because this is just so.
24:08Oh, Taraji.
24:09You're amazing and we love you.
24:10Taraji, and this is Jadora.
24:12She's the captain.
24:13Yes.
24:14What has this team meant to you?
24:16Well, this team to me means the world.
24:18It's honestly taught me just so much.
24:20So many life lessons, sisterhood especially.
24:23You know, we have went through so many woes and triumphs together between the summer,
24:28practices, games, performances, and honestly, this opportunity right here being together,
24:33being, being able to do it with these girls.
24:35I'm just so honored.
24:36Okay.
24:37You guys, we can't let you go without a performance.
24:40Are you in for that, Taraji?
24:41I am so.
24:42All right.
24:43Okay.
24:44All right.
24:45So take it away.
24:46Yes, let's go.
24:47Oh, my goodness.
24:48Let me get out of the way.
24:50Yes, let's go.
24:51Oh, my goodness.
24:52Yes, let's go.
24:53Can I get out of it?
24:54Let's go.
24:55Let's go.
24:56Come on.
24:56Play.
24:57Let's go.
24:58I'm good.
24:59All right.
25:00Let's go.
25:01All right.
25:02Come on.
25:03Let's go.
25:04Let's go.
25:05Let's go.
25:06Can I get a ticket over?
25:07Yeah, we'll try to get that.
25:08Then we can get into it.
25:09Good.
25:10Let's go.
25:11You can hit the ticket over,
25:12and do it.
25:13Let's go.
25:14¡Gracias!
25:44¡Gracias!
26:14¡Gracias!
26:16¡Gracias!
26:18¡Gracias!
26:20¡Gracias!
26:22¡Gracias!
26:24Can I say one thing?
26:26Yes.
26:27You have to have a sisterhood in order to have that kind of synchronicity because it's all about a feeling as well.
26:34And I know you guys are really, I can see that you guys are tight and you lift each other up just in your movements.
26:40That stuff you kind of feel, so if you're, if you're, if that's just core, it wouldn't look that good.
26:45Absolutely.
26:46So that's a testament to them.
26:47But also you're amazing.
26:48What you have helped build is incredible.
26:51All of you are stars.
26:53Yes.
26:54Yes.
26:55Thank you, thank you, thank you.
26:57Thank you so much.
26:58It's just incredible.
26:59Coming up next y'all, the relationship coach with millions of followers on social media and media, Julia Tarecki.
27:05Oh.
27:06She reveals right by holding you back for finding love after this.
27:11I know.
27:12I'm so happy.
27:14We are back now with the relationship coach and podcaster who has built a huge following on social media, helping people improve their love lives and self-worth.
27:23Her name is Jillian Tarecki and now she's put all her advice into a new book called, It Begins With You, the nine hard truths about love that will change your life.
27:33Yeah.
27:34Good luck with me.
27:35Okay, Jillian, this is amazing.
27:40You're a relationship coach, but you didn't start this way.
27:43What, what in your life kind of got you to where you are today?
27:46First of all, thank you so much for having me and before we get started, I just wanted to say that my heart is with everyone in California who's dealing with the fire.
27:53Yes.
27:54My prayers are with you.
27:55You know, I taught yoga for many, many years and then I went through an extremely painful divorce and after which I, and my mom died at the same time and miscarriage.
28:04It was a lot of tragedy and at that point I was like, wait, hold on, this was not supposed to happen.
28:09And I really became obsessed with what makes a relationship work.
28:14And so I went on this journey to figure it out and I did and then I worked with thousands of people to help them in their relationships.
28:21That's pretty amazing.
28:22It is, but what do you think is holding most people back from having that dream relationship?
28:27First thing is fear, fear of not being good enough, fear of losing love, fear of abandonment, fear that, you know, all the good ones are taken or all men are this way or all women.
28:38Or that way.
28:39So it's mostly fear.
28:41You know, I think as people are out there looking and wanting to date, there's probably some mistakes that people make.
28:48And what's, what would you say you've identified as the biggest mistakes?
28:51There's the two biggest mistakes.
28:52One is looking for that perfect unicorn.
28:55Yeah.
28:56No one is perfect.
28:57We all are deeply flawed.
28:59But number two is thinking that, not being discerning, thinking that, oh, I'm attracted to you so then we should be in a relationship.
29:07Whereas it takes.
29:08Like people fall into relationships over weekends.
29:10Over weekends.
29:11I watched your.
29:12Yes.
29:13Yes.
29:14Listen to you.
29:15Exactly.
29:16Exactly.
29:17They play house with each other because there's chemistry.
29:18And whereas that's important, you need more than that.
29:21You need to share values.
29:22Yeah.
29:23And so a lot of people stay in relationships because they think the other person is going to change.
29:27Is that wishful thinking or is that something that can possibly happen?
29:30You need to ask yourself why do you want them to change.
29:33People change because they want to.
29:35And if you really think that the person you're with fundamentally needs to change, then that's not the right person for you.
29:43Yeah.
29:44We all know that you can find happiness without finding the unicorn which you say doesn't even exist.
29:49Yes.
29:50For people out there that are single and thriving, one sitting next to me, happy as can be, what do you say is like about those people, you know?
30:00So it's important to be able to find a sense of meaning and fulfillment regardless of your relationship status.
30:08This is actually very important so that you choose well.
30:11And, you know, but also it's also okay to want a relationship, you know?
30:15Yeah.
30:16To want love.
30:17But you, but you, your partner can't be the only source of happiness.
30:20Yeah, I was going to say, don't you feel like you have love in a million ways in your life?
30:23I have so much love that I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
30:27Yeah.
30:28Yeah.
30:29Yeah.
30:30Yeah.
30:31Okay.
30:32So for those of us that are looking for love, it's the, you know, the start of a new year, you have kind of a guidebook.
30:36Yes.
30:37So.
30:38Take some notes.
30:39I'm just kidding.
30:40I'm good.
30:41You don't want it.
30:42I'm okay.
30:43Know what you want.
30:45And beyond that, know what you absolutely need in a partner.
30:49You want to agree.
30:50Like where are the choosers, which I think is such an important thing.
30:52Yeah.
30:53We are the choosers.
30:54No.
30:55Right?
30:56Yeah.
30:57I'm the club's child.
30:58Me too.
31:00But we didn't know that we were the ones that, you know, got to choose.
31:04Right.
31:05Exactly.
31:06It was always about the man.
31:07Exactly.
31:08And the man that.
31:09No, that's over.
31:10Becoming obsessed with being chosen is over.
31:11You want to be the chooser.
31:12Yeah.
31:13Because it's the most important decision you'll ever make is the person who you decide to spend
31:16your life with.
31:17Totally.
31:18You should check out.
31:19It begins with you at today.com books.
31:22Congratulations on your book.
31:23Thank you so much.
31:24Coming up next, we are going to steal Taraji's style.
31:27Uh-huh.
31:28Not literally.
31:29Not literally.
31:30We'll show you four of my looks and how you can get them after this.
31:34Not literally.
31:35It is time to help you get the look and today we've got a special edition inspired
31:41all by Taraji's fashion over the years.
31:43Here with some looks for every occasion is style expert Melissa Garcia.
31:48I mean, first of all, I'm obsessed with this because Taraji has such great style.
31:52We had such a hard time picking the looks to recreate because there's so many amazing ones.
31:57Truly.
31:58We had the best time.
31:59So, the first look is actually something you wore, she wore here on the show.
32:02Yeah.
32:03Okay.
32:04We're not too long on today's show and I love this for like a girl's night out.
32:07So, that was our inspiration for this.
32:08Or tea.
32:09Or tea.
32:10Or tea.
32:11Or tea.
32:12Or tea.
32:13So, this is great.
32:14We often forget how awesome, like a little short suit is.
32:16Oh, look at Ali.
32:17Yes.
32:18So cute.
32:19So, I found this from Amazon.
32:20It was $47 you guys for the suit.
32:22Can you believe it?
32:23Yeah.
32:24So cute.
32:25Something tells me Taraji's wasn't $47.
32:26I don't cake spade.
32:27It wasn't $47.
32:28It was all cake spade.
32:29Yeah, all cake spade.
32:30Not $47, but we recreated it and I think we kind of hit it, right?
32:33Yeah.
32:34And we had fun with the white accessories like you did.
32:36We pulled in a great Steve Madden shoe and Nine West little bag.
32:39And the whole look pulls together.
32:40I think it's adorable.
32:41I love it.
32:42And you even have the same chain necklace.
32:44I know.
32:45We really went for it.
32:46You found all of that on Amazon?
32:47Not all of it.
32:48Oh, stop.
32:49I was like, can I get my phone?
32:51That is adorable.
32:53It's $47.
32:54That's incredible.
32:55Thank you, Ali.
32:56So cute.
32:57So cute.
32:58Okay, so the next look is a date night look.
32:59Yes, date night.
33:00Oh, wow.
33:01This is so hot, Taraji.
33:02Wow, Taraji.
33:03Is that me?
33:04That is like beyond.
33:05Taraji, you look hot.
33:06So hot.
33:07This is one of my favorite looks.
33:09I love this burgundy is so in right now.
33:11She's like, when did I wear that?
33:13I remember, but I just was, wow.
33:15Gorgeous.
33:16Gorgeous gorgeous.
33:17Oh, my goodness.
33:18Here's Selena.
33:19Selena.
33:20Yes.
33:21This is beautiful.
