00:00Being on so many sets just makes me so comfortable on a set, and that really gives me an advantage.
00:05You know, I never really thought about, until I was directing, how many first-time directors I'd worked with as
00:08an actor
00:08who had really maybe never been on a set before.
00:11And you look at the director thinking, you know, they know everything and they have the answers to everything,
00:15and some of these guys had just literally barely spent any time on sets.
00:19So there was a huge advantage for me in the sense of how comfortable I am on a set.
00:23I've lived on sets most of my life.
00:26You just kind of understand the workings and the flow of everything, and, you know, all the ups and downs
00:30and ins and outs.
00:32Sorry, go ahead.
00:33You also get a sense, I think, on television doing, how many episodes of television did you say?
00:37Like 300-ish.
00:38300 episodes.
00:39That's probably working with about 150 different directors at the very least.
00:43So you get a sense of what the actors respond to and what actors don't respond to.
00:47Absolutely, yeah.
00:49And I know how I would want someone to help me in the process as an actor.
00:55So I try to look at it knowing that every actor needs something different, and I try to be as
01:00sensitive and open to that.
01:02And I think I'm aware of that from having been an actor for so long.
01:05And then in terms of it affecting me as an actor, I definitely am just in the process differently.
01:11I know every step of the process on a whole different level.
01:14You know, I understand what the wardrobe department is going through.
01:17I understand what the dit tent is going through.
01:19I understand what the cinematographer needs in any given moment.
01:22I know that, you know, and every actor should know this, you should stand on your mark for at least
01:2790 seconds before they say action.
01:29And don't talk and don't move because you will look better.
01:33It's really true.
01:34Because, you know, actors are like talking all the way up to the last second and, you know, all this
01:38stuff.
01:38And they're moving around and they're not standing and they're like...
01:40Trying to focus you.
01:40Yeah, and the cinematographer's been lighting a stand-in who usually looks nothing like you.
01:44And they're like hoping.
01:45They're hoping it's going to look great.
01:47And if you just stand on your mark for like a minute to 90 seconds, you will look incredible.
01:51Because they'll run in and they'll do like last-minute little tweaks.
01:53And they'll make it work exactly for your face and you'll look your absolute best.
01:58So there's like little tricks like that.
01:59But it's also just being in the process differently.
02:02I know how to make the day go a little bit faster now as an actor.
02:05I know how to facilitate the process differently.
02:08And also when I'm acting now, I'm like, oh man, all I got to do is act?
02:11This is great.
