00:12about their responsibilities and how they conduct themselves. My responsibility is to be the vice
00:17president of the schools. So one of my responsibilities is to amplify the voices
00:21of my fellow students. If they have concerns, if they have worries. So I'm like the bridge
00:28between the teachers and the students.
00:32Leanko, what is your responsibility as a library prefect?
00:34I'm the director of the library, so I have a lot of responsibilities. For example, we
00:41have two librarians at our library. So if they are facing some challenges, for example, inadequate
00:46books, they can just go through me and I can report to the administrations. And also I help
00:52some students who are having difficulties to visit the library, since we normally use
00:56the library ID, and I can tell them where they can access it and pay the payments for
01:01the library ID. If they have any questions, they can just go through me and I can ask them.
01:06Acting a bridge between the students and the administration, telling them about the problems
01:12of the library, since we know that the library is one of the most important places for students.
01:17Do you think you being a prefect is helping you shape your leadership skills?
01:21Being a leader now is just a training for the future, because we never know what the
01:27future holds. So it's better practicing now in order to become maybe perfect in the future.
01:33So what about you? Do you think it's helping you with your leadership skills?
01:37Being a leader right now is actually like helping us to boost our confidence. It's not like
01:43if you're just sitting and you're not doing anything or if you're not participating in anything,
01:48you cannot actually like have a good leadership skill in the future. Like being a manager,
01:55you have a lot to do. It's like you're being a leader. So you're supposed to have confidence.
02:00So in different sectors of where we're all going to work, we all have to be leaders. We all
02:05have to be there for our fellow colleagues.
02:08Beyond being a prefect, beyond being leaders here at Baila Secondary School, what are your
02:13future goals?
02:14My goal is to become a biomedical engineer. So I can actually make business with people
02:20from different sectors, from different countries. So it's building me up to know how to speak
02:26to those people freely without being scared.
02:29When I grow up, I want to work in the court. It's either I'll be a judge or a lawyer because I want
02:34to fight for justice and free those who are not guilty and put those who have done criminal behind bars.
02:39For me, my future, what I really want to be, I want to be a cardiologist, a doctor. I want to perform
02:46those type of surgeries so that I can help those who are actually in need. If I'm not going to be
02:51a doctor, I'd rather be an entrepreneur. I want to be my own boss. I don't want anyone to be
02:56commanding me to do things. I want to be a pediatric neurosurgeon doctor. Being a leader over here
03:01will help me to boost my confidence because it may come in some situations where you have to
03:06communicate with those families. I want to become a fashion designer and textile producer. Being a
03:13leader at this school will help me to build my confidence, how I'm going to interact with people,
03:18my customers and stuff. I think the best thing to do in this world is really do what makes me happy.
03:23So I feel like doing what makes me happy is being an entrepreneur, doing entrepreneurship,
03:28doing business, you know, making my own money without anybody's arrest in my life.
03:34Alright, there you have it. These are views from the prefects here at Baila Secondary School.
03:39But as we all know, these are students and they get their instructions from teachers. So let's go talk
03:43to one of the teachers and hear from him. What do you think is the importance of having prefects here at
03:49school? As you teachers, can't you be able to control these students yourselves? Why do you need
03:54prefects? As teachers, we can control the students. But then remember that a school is also a training
04:01ground. So we are also training them as leaders of tomorrow. They act as a bridge to the administration
04:08and the student body. So we cannot be running up and down with even small issues to the students,
04:15but then we just call them and maybe give them the message so that they can deliver it to their
04:21friends. So they are of importance. Alright, thank you for having me. It's been such a great honor.
04:28While there are a lot of expectations from prefects, there are more than just school leaders. There are
04:32also students trying to build their future one step at a time. I hope my friends at home learned one
