A major tragedy unfolded near Navale Bridge on the outskirts of Pune on Thursday (13 Nov 2025) evening after a truck’s brakes failed, leading to a massive collision involving 20–25 vehicles on the Pune–Nashik Highway near Bhorgaon.
Police said the truck rammed into a car, which then crashed into a container ahead, causing all three vehicles to catch fire. The impact was so severe that the car was crushed between the trucks and went up in flames within seconds, killing all five occupants.
In total, nine people — including the truck driver — died in the accident, and nearly 20 others were injured. A passenger vehicle behind the truck also caught fire, injuring 17–18 people. Traffic on the busy stretch remained disrupted for about an hour.
Fire and rescue teams reached the spot promptly and extinguished the blaze. The deceased are being identified, and the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced ₹5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and assured support for the injured. MP Supriya Sule also expressed grief over the tragedy.
