00:00At least 37 people were killed and dozens injured when a bus plunged into a 200-meter-deep ravine in Peru's Araquipa region on Wednesday.
00:11The accident happened when the bus, carrying around 60 passengers, collided with a van and veered off the highway connecting the coastal town of Chala to Araquipa.
00:21Among the injured were an eight-month-old baby and two other children, with 26 people receiving treatment, including three in serious condition.
00:30Okona district mayor Waldor Lorena said the terrain around the crash site is very rugged and the area has a history of similar deadly accidents.
00:39The Peruvian presidency expressed condolences and announced that medical support had been mobilized for the injured.
