Ecuador: 12 dead and 10 injured after bus overturn in southern hills

At least 12 people died and other 10 got injured after a bus fell down a hill on the Ecuadorian Andean south. The accident was registered at the province of Bolivar, specifically at the height of Simiatug village. According to the Risk Secretariat, the accident occurred due to the transport unit overturning. The bus precipitated into an abyss while traveling through the highway connecting the cities of Guaranda and Ambato, according to the confirmation offered by the ECU-9-1-1 emergency service. This kind of incidents highlights the traffic accidents among the main causes of death in the country, being that for 2024, there were registered more than 21 thousand crashes of this nature.
