00:00As someone who has been a lifelong Liberal, it saddens me to no end that there are a number
00:08of Liberals who are no longer interested in building a stronger, better and more prosperous
00:13future for future generations of Australians. And that's what this issue is all about.
00:18How do we make our country stronger and hand our planet to our kids better than we found it? And
00:23if the Liberal Party is giving up on that, then they're giving up on the thing that has always
00:28made them the natural party of government in Australia and something that I was proud to be
00:33a part of for many years. But certainly political interests of some actors and vested interests,
00:40in my view, over the national interest. The Liberal Party has always been at its best
00:45when it's put the community interest and the country's interest first. That has been the case
00:51in the Howard government, in the Abbott government, in the Turnbull government and the Barry O'Farrell
00:58Mike Baird and Gladys Berejiklian governments that I was proud to serve in. That's when the Liberal
01:03Party is at its best, when we're arguing for a stronger and better future, not when we're looking
01:08to backslide.
