Even after last month’s ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, families in Gaza continue to live without electricity.
Displaced mother Hanan al-Joujou and her family rely on flashlights and candles to get through the night, unable to afford batteries or charging costs. Gaza’s electricity network has been devastated, with 80% of infrastructure destroyed and losses estimated at $728 million, according to Gaza’s Electricity Company.
Despite promises of reconstruction, power remains out across most of the enclave. Humanitarian groups say restoring electricity will require massive rebuilding efforts.
