00:00K-Sim's had quite a long journey to get here. We have a lot of processes that we have to do.
00:08So he's come all the way from New Zealand, so it's a long flight to get over, then a car ride.
00:12Not only that, he's got to have health checks, he had to come into quarantine here on site.
00:16Then we had to go through the new process of introducing Siamangs, which we've never done on site before,
00:21and then eventually showing them the islands. So huge process, lots of steps.
00:26I think all of us who do live here in Dubbo or frequent the location know the call of the Siamang.
00:31It is completely iconic, not only to the zoo, but to the town.
00:35These guys have the loudest call of any gibbon species. It can be heard up to three kilometres away.
00:39So if the wind is going the right way, you can hear them all the way in town.
00:47It's a very emotional thing for all of us to hear this call back on the islands.
00:52It's something that we all hold really close to our hearts and it's a really special sound.
00:56These two are still very much finding their sound.
00:58Once Siamang pairs bond together, they actually create a duet.
01:01So as we're listening to these guys, we are hearing a few changes as they create their own sound.
01:06So it's really exciting and very lovely.
01:08And it looks very lovely.
