00:01I'm going to tell you about an exciting new financial scheme that's eligible for
00:05every Surrey resident over the age of 18. Investing your time now could save you
00:11financially in the future. Surrey Secure Savings is an investment scheme that is
00:16designed to grow your funds steadily over a 10-year period. It's simple to get
00:21started, you'll just need to verify your identity with your home address to
00:25confirm that you are a Surrey resident and your online bank details. Once
00:29registered you'll have your own personalised portal to monitor your
00:33funds growing safely and securely. Looks and sounds convincing but that wasn't
00:40actually me. I am Lisa Townsend, Surrey's Police and Crime Commissioner and things
00:45aren't always what they seem. Everything you've seen from the beginning of that
00:49video, including the scheme, doesn't exist actually. That was media created by
00:54artificial intelligence or AI and is widely known as a deep fake. It was
00:59created using technology that can take genuine video footage or a photo of a
01:03person and generate a realistic version of them by mimicking their image and voice
01:07to do and say things that weren't said or done in reality. It's made to look and
01:12sound completely real but it's not. It's 100% fake. For this film existing clips of
01:18me from previous public appearances that are widely available on the internet were
01:22used by AI to build an entirely fake version. It looks like me and it sounds
01:27like me but it's all machine made. Scammers are already creating new deep fake
01:33content every day to trick people into sharing their personal details and to
01:39steal their money. In 2024 more than 10 million pounds was lost by victims to
01:44deep fakes featuring influential people advertising fraudulent investment schemes.
01:48A deep fake attempt happens every five minutes. So before you trust what you see
01:54or hear online, on the phone or read in the post, please pause and question
02:00everything. Stay safe and download our free AI awareness guide to learn how to
02:06protect yourself. I'm Lisa Townsend, Surrey's Police and Crime Commissioner.
