00:00Brian Dable, the New York Giants head coach for the past couple of seasons, fired.
00:05Today, as this team has made the move away from Brian Dable,
00:09that has also been followed with reports that they're not really looking to make other moves,
00:14meaning Joe Shane likely staying as the general manager, at least for now.
00:19The New York Giants were up double digits,
00:22something that has actually been a little bit more common than you would think for a two-win team this year.
00:27But what is not uncommon is they still proceeded to lose that football game to the Chicago Bears, 24-20.
00:36This game did flip, though, when Jackson Dart left injured with another concussion.
00:42Russell Wilson didn't table at the end of the day.
00:46You got to call it like you see it, Joe.
00:49Your reaction to what the New York Giants did here.
00:51Yeah, it was a long time coming.
00:52You know, three games you could pull out, in particular, Dallas-Denver,
00:57and the loss against Chicago that really, you know, made Brian Dable's fate and sealed it with that loss.
01:03I mean, you have basically a 10-point lead in the second half and allow it to slip.
01:08The defense allowed Caleb Williams to come from behind.
01:11I call him Streetball Williams in the fourth quarter because he was improvising,
01:16but just making plays and really putting the Giants' defense on their heels.
01:20And, again, this team hasn't played for four quarters, Kev, throughout the year.
01:26I mean, they were inconsistent.
01:28They had some nice wins, the Philly win, but they couldn't back it up.
01:32Jackson Dart is there, but this team needed a change,
01:35and then they made the proper decision for the second half of the season.
01:38I think this is a really tough decision.
01:41Oh, come on.
01:42I think this is a really tough decision.
01:45Because I think I've been a bit of a Dable guy.
01:49At the end of the day, I thought what he did in the opening year with Daniel Jones
01:55should have been applauded and understood.
01:58He didn't hand Daniel Jones that contract, which was a full nightmare,
02:02regardless of what he's doing in Indianapolis right now.
02:05Now, things were rocky following that season,
02:08though Daniel Jones spent most of the time after the year they won a playoff game injured.
02:13Jackson Dart is the guy, Joe.
02:16Would you agree with that?
02:17Absolutely.
02:18Everybody seems to feel that way.
02:20Well, he's Brian Dable's guy.
02:22Not even Joe Shane's.
02:23Brian Dable banged the table and said Jackson Dart is the guy,
02:28and you got the quarterback right because of him.
02:31And these losses were heartbreaking, and they mounted in a way where I'm not killing the Giants for what they did.
02:39I'm not.
02:40But I don't think this is an easy decision, and I don't think this is a layup decision.
02:45Because you don't often find QB head coach marriages that work easily and immediately.
02:54And this one did.
02:55Dart loved Dable, and Dable loved Dart, Joe.
02:57And is that not what matters?
02:59No, it's not what matters, Kev.
03:01So what matters?
03:02What matters is wins and losses, and he had more losses than wins,
03:05and he wasn't a good in-game manager.
03:07He couldn't coach up this team.
03:08That's true he wasn't an in-game manager.
03:09And I'll just say this.
03:11He did coach him up.
03:12He did coach him up.
03:13He didn't coach him up.
03:14No, he coached him up.
03:15He coached him up in year one.
03:16He coached him up.
03:16He over-exceeded expectations.
03:17They were catching four and a half, covered the number.
03:20So you know what?
03:20He's great.
03:21He's elite.
03:22Well, he covered you.
03:23I mean, that's what you always tell me.
03:24Covered against Denver.
03:25Keep the Philadelphia Eagles outright.
03:27Your Super Bowl darling.
03:29Here's the thing, Kev.
03:30I'm just saying.
03:31But wait a second.
03:31Brian Dable, he's another coach that's a better coordinator than he is a head coach.
03:38And we talk about the defensive coordinators that have failed.
03:41Eber, Flus, Vic Fangio.
03:43Sure.
03:44Right?
03:44We can go on and on about the defensive talent that they're better.
03:47Dennis Allen, they can only coach one side.
03:50Well, guess what?
03:51He wasn't even coaching the offensive side.
03:53They weren't consistent offensively.
03:55They had no offensive identity.
03:57And you're telling me that Brian Dable didn't bang the table to get Russell Wilson?
04:02I don't think he did.
04:03What was the whole point of that?
04:05Oh, that was a huge mistake as well.
04:06What about Jameis Winston?
04:08I agree they should have let Jameis out there throwing the ball around.
04:11He might still have a job.
04:11But they got two guys.
04:13They totally messed this up from the get-go this year.
04:16I mean, again, I agree with that.
04:17Darts should have been your week one starter.
04:18They might be a 500 football team if he was.
04:20It's possible.
04:21But again, that's on Dable too.
04:23But I think in this league, Joe, you're right.
04:26Wins matter when you're supposed to win.
04:27Otherwise, when you're in a situation, you're hoping that you have the quarterback, right?
04:31And all that matters for the Giants is do you have the quarterback?
04:34And everybody seems to think yes.
04:36And Dable's – listen, I understand it was not year number one for Brian Dable.
04:41But if it was, people would be saying, I promise you this combination is going to get it figured out.
04:46Give them time.
04:47They're going to get it figured out.
04:48Malik Nabors out for the year.
04:50They're going to get Scadaboo out for the year.
04:51Yeah, but even when –
04:52Defense is a sieve.
04:53Even when they had neighbors in there last year, the only game they broke out was against the Colts.
04:58Sure did break out, though.
04:59And that was the one that could cost them the number one overall pick.
05:01Outside of that, though.
05:02You want them to win or lose.
05:03With all of Brian Dable's ingenuity and all of his big game offensive explosiveness with Buffalo and Josh Allen.
05:11Where was that for four seasons with the New York Giants?
05:14Well, it was with Jackson Dahl.
05:15They had juice.
05:16They – you just – you were on the Giants to over-exceed expectations.
05:20I was, and they didn't.
05:21But he wasn't the coach.
05:23He wasn't the coach.
05:24He coached them down into the dirt.
