00:00Typhoon Owan has affected several regions across the country with strong winds and heavy rains spreading throughout affected areas.
00:08To provide us with more details on the typhoon's movement and expected impact, we now have on the line a Pag-Asa weather specialist, Robert Obet Badrina.
00:17Can you give us an update on the typhoon's current position?
00:21Good evening, good evening Mr. Chairman, good evening to all our viewers.
00:24So this is the latest in our state of our weather.
00:28Currently, the typhoon Owan continues to weaken while it's moving away from the Ilocos region.
00:35Its latest location is at 175 km west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km per hour.
00:51The tropical cyclone is currently moving at 10 km per hour northwestward.
00:57Presently, signal number 2, tropical cyclone signal number 2, Batanes, Cagayan, yung Kuling Babuyan Islands, northwestern portion of Isabela, as well as Apayaw, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte,
01:15Ilocos Sur, La Union, western and central portion of Pangasinan, as well as northern portion of Zambale.
01:23So even though we're expecting that the tropical cyclone is about to exceed the Filipino area of responsibility tonight or tomorrow morning,
01:30we can still expect some possibility of minor to moderate threat to life and property, particularly in these areas under signal number 2.
01:38Meanwhile, these are the areas under signal number 3.
01:41The rest of Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Biscaya, the rest of Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, rest of Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal,
01:53Quezon, including Pulilio Islands, Occidental Mindoro, including Lubang Islands, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Calamian Islands, Camarines Norte, and the northwestern portion of Camarines Sur.
02:04Based on its latest track, we're expecting that the tropical cyclone will exceed the Filipino area of responsibility probably late tonight or early morning tomorrow.
02:14Although it's about to exceed the Filipino area of responsibility because of its diameter,
02:20it is still possible that some areas are still under tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 or number 2.
02:26Meanwhile, we're expecting that the tropical cyclone will move towards the area of Taiwan.
02:30There's still a possibility for it to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday before making landfall over Taiwan area.
02:40And it is expected to dissipate into a low-pressure area by Friday.
02:45Meanwhile, most parts of the country tomorrow will have a generally fair weather with some isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
02:53But the western section of Luzon may still continue to experience some light to moderate range due to the trap or extension of tropical cyclone or Typhoon 1.
03:03So that's the latest on our weather from Pagasa, Weather Forecasting Center.
03:07Obet Badrina, good evening.
03:10Yeah, Obet, quick question before you go.
03:12Aside from the recent Typhoon 1, are there any other possible weather disturbances that we can be expected to come in
03:19in the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days?
03:22So currently, we are no longer monitoring or there's no any low-pressure area within or even outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
03:31However, based on our outlook, this month of November, we're expecting two or three tropical cyclones.
03:38So there's still a possibility for another tropical cyclone.
03:41Although as of now, no, we're not monitoring anyone, any disturbance.
03:45But based on our outlook, there's a possibility of three tropical cyclones to develop or enter the Philippine area of responsibility within the month of November.
03:54All right, many thanks, Weather Specialist Obet Badrina.
