A few of the keen ones out there might be excited for election night. Waiting up until the early hours for the count to come in, but that is now a thing of the past for the Senedd, as overnight counts are cancelled indefinitely. The counting will now take place the following day, hoping that everyone can be involved and up to date.

00:06come through overnight as they often do in uk general elections instead votes will be counted
00:10during the daytime on the day after polling the electoral management board which oversees devolved
00:16elections in wales has directed all returning officers to start counts between 9 and 11 a.m
00:21this continues the approach used for the 2021 senate election as well as more recent police
00:26and crime commissioner and local elections daytime counts are intended to give election staff more
00:31rest ensure all resources are available and make the counting process more efficient and secure
00:36it also hopes that more people will be able to follow the results as they come in enhancing
00:41transparency and public engagement returning officers will still have the option to verify
00:46ballot papers immediately after the polls close at 10 p.m on 30 the 7th of may verification checks
00:52the number of ballots matches those issued but does not include counting votes while most
00:56constituencies will wait until friday a small number may choose to carry out this verification

01:37will stretch well into the next day and you won't even have to stay up late to get it
