00:00If we win, we're always tempted to consider it as a result of our greatness.
00:06We made great moves, we crushed our opponent, let's move on.
00:11But I bet you there is a mistake.
00:16And if you don't find these mistakes,
00:20if you didn't find what went wrong in your game before they did,
00:28they will be ahead of you next time.
00:30So to be out of a curve, you always have to analyze your own games,
00:35even if you win, and that's what I did all the time.
00:45Studying classical games always helps.
00:49Because at the end of the day, it's about patterns,
00:52and where can you find the best place for learning patterns
00:55if not studying the games of those giants who have invented these ideas.
01:06I spent a lot of time working on a series of books called My Great Predecessors.
01:12And one of the things I discovered in the process of working on these books is that
01:16very often, in the crucial moments of these games,
01:22they made better decisions at the board,
01:25at the moment where all your senses are mobilized.
01:29They saw more and better moves than
01:34when later they were in comfort of the studies,
01:40writing books and making comments,
01:42when your senses are switched off.
01:45I can only recommend to read these books
01:50because this is like an encyclopedia of chess ideas.
01:56You can enjoy some of them more than others.
01:59You can like more figures.
