Super Typhoon “Uwan” battered large parts of Luzon and Visayas, triggering widespread flooding, landslides, and power outages that left two people dead and 830,000 individuals affected, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Monday, Nov. 10.

00:00Super Typhoon U-1 leaves two people dead and affects more than 830,000 individuals, the Office of Civil Defense reported on Monday, November 10.
00:13OCD Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV, Deputy Administrator for Administration, says one of the fatalities was recorded in Viga, Catanduanes due to drowning, while another died in Catbalogan City, Samar, after a structure collapsed.
00:34Two people were also reported injured in the Bicol region and eastern Visayas.
00:39In its latest situational report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, or NDRRMC, said 230,955 families have been affected across 2,710 barangays in Regions 2, 4A, 5, 6, 8, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.
01:03Meanwhile, more than 300,000 individuals are currently sheltered in 6,069 evacuation centers, while over 100,000 are staying with relatives or in makeshift shelters.
