Archive footage from 1961 and 1989 shows the construction and collapse of the Berlin Wall. The video captures dramatic scenes of residents attempting to cross the wall through tunnels and barriers, and later, crowds celebrating its fall by climbing atop the structure and breaking it apart.

The Berlin Wall, erected in August 1961, became a symbol of the Cold War and the division between East and West Germany. Its demolition began in June 1990, with German reunification on October 3, 1990, and the wall’s removal completed by 1992.
