00:30the passing game to the kicking game and how the wind impacted it Bears quarterback Caleb Williams known for that strong arm told me I was born on the East Coast I love this cold weather well the Bears also love the fact that running back DeAndre Swift is back in the starting lineup all right Pam the Bears won the toss they choose to receive yeah not surprised you heard Pam talk about how important the wind is by electing by winning the toss and electing to receive now in the second half
00:59they get to choose which direction they will go in the fourth quarter in the event they need a game winning field goal or a game winning drive so it's important that ball bounces out of bounds Jamie Gillen's opening kickoff goes out of bounds and the Bears have the ball at the 40 yard line to start this one kick out of bounds against the kicking team ball will be placed at the 40 yard line first down Chicago and so here comes Caleb Williams you talk about stuffing the statue
01:29the touchdowns pass and he ran for 53 he even caught a couple passes yeah I think it probably goes without saying but I think overall his best performance of the season and he's had some good ones but just the command the ability to extend drives and extend plays with his legs it's a big element that Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams are still trying to figure out when to just let him play ball extend and operate off script
01:59Jerry Swift is back in there after resting the groin last week Williams looks to throw on the first play and right away it's Romo Dunze went without a catch for the first time in his career last week they said we're not waiting around to get him his first grab today and he's got eight yards on the first play from 28th last year to six this year 576 yards last week you're going to go back 45 years to find the last time they had that many yards in the game
02:29but it's the explosive plays he's not waiting until third down he's not trying to get in third and manageable they are going to attack especially on first and second down
02:39second and short here play action Williams over the middle where he's been the best in the NFL he's got Luther Burden the rookie with the first down already to the 36 in Giants territory
02:51and this is something the best play callers in the league do they say we don't want to play third down we hate third down so they get into these second and short third and short
02:59that's really their play action mode these run downs and you know when you have a chance to talk to Ben Johnson and some of the top play callers around the league
03:08we are trying to get first downs on first and second down and play the least amount of third down drop back as possible
03:16from the 36 quick throw DJ Moore off his hands and almost intercepted by Cordell Fly
03:23chance right there for fly couldn't pull it in and it's second and ten Brian Burns did he get his hand on it there
03:32it's hard to tell I don't think he did I just think Caleb Williams threw DJ Moore a fastball and point blank he just threw him a fastball
03:41it's hard to say but obviously Burns his big right hand for sure threw that ball off a little bit Brian Burns one huge bright spot on this struggling defense leading the NFL in sacks this year
03:52second and ten first run DeAndre Swift not a whole lot of room there he got three stopped by the former Bear Roy Robertson Harris in this defense for the Giants it was supposed to be the biggest strength this year but they've given up a hundred points the last two games in one quarter
04:08yeah and really the big issue for this Giants defense is on first and second down teams are just running the ball right at them regardless of how many guys they play in the box they're playing with one one safety in the middle of the field I think today they've got to put more weight on that defensive line light boxes high safeties it's more important they limit the explosives here's Swift on third down DeAndre Swift Dexter Lawrence there to hit him got just three and it's
04:38fourth and four from the third you figure you factor in the wind the conditions you got to go for it right yeah we watched the we watched both teams kickers on both sides young way coup caro Santos and there was not a lot of kicks made in the high 40s to 50 yard range this wind is swirling it's changing as you heard Pam say and I have a feeling this is going to be third and medium today is going to be treated as second down and there's going to be a lot of fourth down tries for both sides Giants have been
05:08the worst fourth down defense in the worst fourth down defense in the worst fourth down defense in the NFL this year eight out of nine against him Williams a look to throw for he's flushed pressured by Lawrence throws on the move to the end zone DJ Moore incomplete oh bullet of a throw down the sideline Moore tried to get the feed in but couldn't quite and it's a turnover on downs on the Bears first drive
05:30let's see it was close but not quite and the Giants will have it when you come back
05:40rushing touchdowns over his first six starts they feel like they have nailed it drafting this quarterback out of Ole Miss you think back to this spring coming out of the draft there was a lot of people that thought he was the best quarterback prospect
05:58coming into this year's draft and through his first six starts with a lot of chaos around them and some heartbreaking losses you're right I think the Giants found themselves the future quarterback of this franchise so sitting here at second and seven or two and seven on the season but feeling excited about the future because of what he brings and this first play gets blown up Tyrone Tracy loses a couple of yards Andrew Billings with the tackle key injuries Malik neighbors one of the top young receivers in the
06:28the NFL accounts for a larger percentage of his team's receiving yards than anybody in the league they lose him to the knee injury Cam Scadabo is bringing energy starting to emerge a running back he leaves with the ankle injury he's done there ain't a whole lot around Jackson Dart and he's still producing for this offense second down eleven given time to the sideline Theo Johnson that's been one of his favorite targets Johnson a first down but a flag down
06:56yeah this is going to stand I think they'll decline this penalty is going to be holding or illegal contact or you see right here is Theo Johnson lined up CJ Gardner Johnson the new addition here in the secondary playing a lot more slot will bounce between safety into the slot nickel there were two fouls on the play both by the defense
07:26illegally used to hand defense number 31 that penalties declined before the pass illegal contact defense number 33 that penalties declined the result of the play is a first down
07:38but as exciting as things are for the Bears at five and three and what the offense is doing this defense giving up way too many points way too many yards they give up 42 points last week to Joe Flacco
07:49who's been doing it to everybody lately but the Bears have overcome it with the offense they've overcome it by taking the ball away they lead the NFL in takeaways paper and over a lot of the issues
08:01so first down from the 42 on the Giants first drive and the best first quarter team in the NFL since Jackson Dart took over a quarterback opening drive touchdowns four of his six starts
08:18yeah and his run plays blown up Tracy couldn't get started lost a couple the leading tackler Tremaine Edmonds has his first yeah this has been one of the struggles for this Bears defense all season long
08:30long you mentioned the takeaways that's really masked a lot of the issues that they've had on a play by play basis and they're very good on third down where a lot of their struggles a lot of their yards are on first and second down teams have really gotten after him especially in the explosive passing
08:45wow it's blown up by Austin Booker season debut last week he missed the first couple of months with a knee injury and it could not have come at a better time as they lose Odango and continue to look for impact guys on the edge yeah you'll see him here's on the top of the screen at the defense he just comes inside on the T.E. stunt they don't pick it up talk about a textbook tackle helmet right under the chin and Tracy he wasn't running
09:15through that contact and this is where the Bears defense is at their best exotic all up pressure looks in must pass situations
09:24dart and the Giants been pretty darn good on third down but this is third and long underneath Theo Johnson across midfield makes it fourth and about two stop by Jaquan Brisker and let's see what Brian Dable does yeah I don't think there's a consideration I think when this ball is anywhere
09:42here around the logo right so called from forty five to forty five on any day forget the weather you could be in a dome it is really become on fourth and short a go for it league and now you factor in the conditions of kicking the ball the punts we've already seen a kickoff go out of bounds we said we're going to see a lot of fourth down tries now each team will have run one
10:07we see dart uses legs here he's been the best running quarterback in the NFL since his debut short roll tries to run but nowhere to go he got swallowed up
10:17Jervon Dexter there to finish him off both teams turn it over on downs on their first drive the Bears will have it again when you come back
10:26Slayton I understand he's trying to cause interference here on Tyreek Stevenson at corner but I think he just kind of gets in the way he's got to go anytime you run sprint out to the short side of the field he's trying to do his job of running a little mesh pick but I think to the short side just too many bodies deep drop on first down Williams given time he'll dump it off to Kyle
10:53and none guy who couldn't pull it in after his huge game in Cincinnati last week and second down and 10 we're talking about this massive turn around this massive and quick turn around for this Bears offense it's not just going from not very good to better they've gone from one of the worst to one of the best just like that under Ben Johnson every category that you'd want to see a turn around in that you figured that you'd get the turn around in eventually they've gotten over the first eight games
11:222nd and 10, there goes Williams left side
11:25he got tripped up with the line of scrimmage
11:27Burns was busting through there
11:28and it's 3rd down and long
11:30yeah I mean you take a look
11:32I mean in the obvious things right
11:34points, yards
11:36they were pretty much at the bottom of the league
11:38a year ago and now you take a look
11:40they're in the top 10 yards
11:42they're top 5 but it goes beyond
11:44that right it's more under center
11:46it's more play action
11:48things that we're seeing happen around the league
11:50the explosive plays
11:52and the reduction of sacks
11:533rd down and long, Williams steps up
11:56nowhere to go with the ball and he
11:58is sacked
11:59Dexter Lawrence gets there
12:02there is a flag down though in the secondary
12:06and he got some guilty looking Giants
12:08DBs
12:09I think they're going to get
12:11holding in the defensive
12:14secondary
12:15holding defense, number 28
12:175 yard penalty, automatic first down
12:20and they're going to get
12:22Cordell Flott
12:24yeah so they're going to get Flott
12:25and you know this giant secondary
12:27Paulson Adebo
12:28one of their big free agent acquisitions
12:29missing him today
12:31due to injury
12:32you'll see Flott there working
12:33on DJ Moore
12:35on the inside
12:36that was the penalty
12:37but you know coming in
12:39one of the big issues
12:40in his
12:41in Caleb Williams rookie year last year
12:42was they were historically bad
12:43protecting the passer
12:44part of that was the offensive line
12:46and of course part of that is always on the quarterback
12:50so that's been cut
12:51pretty much in half
12:52the explosives have almost doubled
12:54you don't have to be as good on a play-by-play basis
12:57when you're good at those two elements
12:59so the holding
13:06wipes away that third down set
13:08fresh hit of downs for the Bears
13:10and a run for Mononga
13:11into the arms of Okereke
13:13third leading tackler in the NFL
13:15gets his first one of the day right there
13:17Caleb Williams
13:18first overall pick last year
13:20five and twelve as a rookie
13:22in year two
13:23he's on pace for the first
13:24four thousand yard season
13:25in Bears history
13:26and you can't look at what the Bears have done
13:29turning it around
13:30and not call this a success of a second year
13:32oh absolutely
13:33and I think there's a lot of credit
13:35to go around
13:36and of course
13:37Ben Johnson gets part credit
13:39Caleb Williams
13:40the moves they've made
13:41solidifying this offensive line
13:43it's a shared kind of role
13:45in the drastic turnaround here
13:47halfway through the season
13:48faked him a nun guy
13:49Odunze is wide open
13:51crossing the field
13:52for a Bears first down
13:53slammed out of bounds
13:54by Haaland
13:55after a gain of fifteen
13:57for number fifteen
13:58well
14:00probably the last missing piece
14:02to kind of put a bow on this
14:04is again under center play action
14:06no teams throw the ball
14:09to more wide open receivers downfield
14:12than the Chicago Bears
14:13and that's something that
14:14was the case in Detroit
14:16the last couple years
14:17with Ben Johnson
14:18it's this misdirection run game
14:20everything looks the same
14:21run and pass
14:22and those are the telltale signs
14:25of a Ben Johnson offense
14:27but none guys straight ahead
14:28into the arms of Robertson Harris
14:31time for a game break
14:32we check in with Carissa
14:33thank you so much Joe Vikings
14:35looking for back to back wins
14:36taking on the Ravens
14:37Aaron Jones takes this one
14:38right at the middle
14:39for the four yard score
14:40Vikings lead seven nothing
14:42over the Ravens
14:43the Ravens
14:45Joe
14:46part of this jam-packed
14:47NFC North
14:48and you know so much of a
14:49franchise's success or lack of
14:51is tied to what they have
14:52at quarterback
14:53but so much of a quarterback's
14:54ability to thrive is tied to
14:56what he has around him
14:57the situation the circumstances
14:59it wasn't great for Caleb Williams
15:00last year as he got here with
15:02the regime headed out
15:03offensive line that wasn't very
15:04good
15:05scans the field on second down
15:07pressured by Thibodeau
15:08throws on the run
15:09here's Zaccheaus but he couldn't
15:11pull it in
15:12Alameda Zaccheaus was wide open
15:16couldn't haul it in
15:18second drop already for the
15:19Bears and instead of a
15:20touchdown third and nine
15:22and throughout the year this
15:24was probably not the strength
15:26of Caleb Williams game
15:27accuracy on the move down
15:29field but you just can't throw
15:31the ball any better than that
15:32I mean that just has to be
15:34caught you can see the
15:35frustration on Williams
15:37that's something Ben Johnson
15:38he gave him that pre you know
15:40before the season preseason
15:41that goal of 70 percent not
15:43sure if he's gonna get there
15:44this year but you can't throw
15:46the ball better than that on
15:47the run especially in these
15:49conditions third and nine
15:50Giants have got some pressure
15:51so far here's Odunze with a
15:53first down it's first and goal
15:55Romo Odunze after he was shut
15:57out last week three catches in
15:59this first quarter
16:01so take a look here Brian Burns
16:03you mentioned one of the best
16:05sack leaders in the league
16:06he's gonna drop but he actually
16:08drops too wide he has to keep
16:11his inside leverage there as a
16:13zone dropper and you know of
16:16course his strength is getting
16:17after the quarterback but you
16:18do want to mix up who rushes and
16:20who drops that time just gets a
16:22little lost in space command the
16:24tight end in there is a full back
16:25to lead the way from a nun guy
16:27who's got a seam and he's got a
16:29touchdown Kyle my nun guy carrying
16:32the momentum from since he back in
16:34front of his home fans now partner
16:38you you called cold committed
16:39fullback wait till you see this
16:42block on drew Phillips wow so
16:46they're an 11 personnel so that
16:47puts the nickel now in the box and
16:50now cold commits just gonna run old
16:52school ISO right Adam and that's
16:57not fair that's just but it's good
16:59offense right you go out there with
17:00one tight end three receivers they
17:02match you in nickel personnel well
17:04now all of a sudden you build two
17:05back because cold commit becomes
17:07your full back and all of a sudden
17:09drew Phillips goes from playing
17:11nickel slot corner to will line back
17:13and it goes from being 5 11 175 to
17:17laying on the ground with 6 6 260
17:19on top of him all right Cairo
17:22Santos the wind blowing snow
17:25falling chips it through so you
17:29had the sack on third down to
17:30look like it was going to end the
17:31drive for the Giants for the
17:32holding penalty continues the
17:34drive and the Bears are able to
17:35take advantage of it boys back in
17:37town after the winning since he
17:39last week and they've got the
17:41early lead over the Giants and
17:42seven nothing lead for Chicago
17:44trying to get their sixth win out
17:45of their last seven games reaching
17:47the midway point of Ben Johnson's
17:48first season right there as you
17:50start to talk early playoff picture
17:52the Bears right in the thick of
17:53it four consecutive losing
17:54seasons only two playoff trips
17:56the last 14 years haven't won a
17:57playoff game since you were had
17:59that flow coming out of the
18:00helmet running down the sideline
18:02with a touchdown come on now my
18:04last but the final week the
18:05next week I'm going to playoff
18:06game I'm going to playoff game
18:07since you were had that flow
18:08coming out of the helmet running
18:09down the sideline with a
18:10touchdown come on now my last but
18:11the final week the next week
18:12didn't go so hot that's okay but
18:14man that was a fun memory it
18:15kind of looked like this snow
18:16was falling we played the
18:17Seattle Seahawks in the
18:19divisional round as you said
18:21last playoff victory here in
18:22Chicago Seahawks still trying to
18:24stop you play the Fox Super 6

18:33see the Fox Sports app for details
18:35yeah this is a textbook vintage
18:40soldier field what you picture
18:42the snowfall in the wind blowing
18:43Jackson Dart was telling us he
18:45envisioned playing in games here
18:47he liked to watch games here as
18:48a kid growing up in Utah he said
18:49I love the the cold and the snow
18:50and the tough defenses well he's
18:51got exactly that today maybe
18:53outside of the tough defense part
18:54but he's got the conditions
18:56perfect for Chicago ball game
18:58Devin Singletary on the ground
18:59again and they've got nothing
19:00going on these first down runs
19:01yes and listen I understand the
19:05elements factor into play
19:06calling so I totally get that
19:08you're trying to settle in your
19:09young quarterback but they have
19:10yet to throw the ball on first
19:11down granted this is only their
19:12second possession but the
19:13weakness of this Chicago Bears
19:14defense is their early down
19:15defense you don't want to get
19:17to third down that's where they
19:18jump to top five in the league
19:19they struggle defending the
19:20downfield pass they got to
19:21open it up on these early
19:22down baby a blitzing CJ
19:23Gardner Johnson making an instant
19:24impact this guy got to Chicago
19:26last Tuesday he had six tackles
19:27in a sack days after that and
19:28he's got a sack right here
19:29yeah and I'm not sure what a
19:30luminor the right tackle you
19:32see him he points out and he
19:33just and he just and he just
19:35and he just and he just and
19:36he just and he just and he
19:38macht.
19:48They've got their center the right
19:49garden the right tackle are
19:51blocking nobody and CJ Gardner
19:54Johnson is just unblock that's
19:55just communication making sure
19:58everyone understands who the
20:00offensive line is responsible
20:02for and they are just
20:03친feras and all the great
20:05球ons are able to go and
20:06lose and see if they are
20:07Субтитры создавал DimaTorzok
20:37It's been first down run for minus one, minus one, zero.
20:41And they're in essence getting into two third downs.
20:44Second and long, third and long.
20:45And that is not what you want to do.
20:47Dennis Allen has been a defensive coordinator in this league a long time.
20:51That's the strength.
20:53And that is just not where you want to be as a young quarterback.
20:56And they've got to open it up on those first down calls.
20:59Jamie Gillum with a line drive punt that's going to give Devin Duvernay a chance.
21:03Bears were atrocious on special teams last week.
21:07Still able to get out of Cincinnati with Devin Duvernay with a return of about a dozen right here.
21:12And this Bears offense coming off the first touchdown drive of the day.
21:15Back to the field on the other side of this break.
21:22Have the fearsome pass rushers.
21:25Only the Steelers have invested more money in the defense than the Giants have.
21:29But this has been terrible, especially trying to stop the run.
21:33The worst rush defense in the NFL.
21:39Defense back out on the field.
21:41First and ten for the Bears from the 28.
21:46Drive starts with the DeAndre Swift run.
21:49Trying to take advantage of that weakness of a run defense.
21:52But what in the world has gone on?
21:53I know there have been a few injuries, but every defense deals with injuries.
21:57It's not a full excuse for how this has gone.
22:00Yeah, there's just, there's clearly a disconnect between the individual talent.
22:04And just take a guy like Brian Burns.
22:05I mean, he's got 11 sacks.
22:07And the team has 21, right?
22:10So there's just, there's something about, they're getting some individual performances from guys they've given a lot of money to.
22:15There's a lot of first-round picks.
22:16Dexter Lawrence, Abdul Carter, Kayvon Thibodeau.
22:19And of course, they acquired Burns in the trade and gave him a hundred million plus contract extension after they got him from Carolina.
22:27So it's not for the lack of resources.
22:29Swift on the ground has a big hole.
22:31First down across the 40 as DeAndre Swift hits it hard for a gain of 11.
22:37Just really well done here on the outside.
22:41Darnell Wright really coming into his own as one of the top right tackles in the league.
22:47Does a nice job there on Abdul Carter.
22:50Loveland at the top next to him.
22:52Just really sound execution.
22:55And then that's where Swift really does his best damage.
22:58He's more of their perimeter, kind of outside zone, pin and pull.
23:02He's a much better runner outside of the tackles.
23:05Well, when Swift misses last week, you get to see what you have.
23:07Now he gets Swift back, and you start to think about what a one-two punch this can be.
23:13A spin to get away from Thibodeau.
23:14And now a dump off.
23:15There is Swift for a gain of four.
23:18It starts to look a little bit like Ben Johnson had in Detroit with Jameer Gibbs and David Montgomery.
23:23He's always liked to have that two-running-back system.
23:26These guys are similar but not exactly the same.
23:28They can do different things.
23:29Yeah, that's exactly right.
23:30So Swift is the perimeter guy.
23:32Menungai, he's the inside runner.
23:34He's the downhill yards after contact.
23:36He's top five in the league in that category with some of the best backs.
23:41Jonathan Taylor, who went absolutely off this morning over in Berlin.
23:45So some of the top-back names, the young rookie out of Rutgers, he's had himself a great start to his young career.
23:53Heavy dose for Swift to begin this drive.
23:55He got tripped up at the line of scrimmage.
23:57Demetrius Flanagan fouls with a tackle.
23:59Yeah, and it'll be third down.
24:01The run game was okay over the first month, but then during the bye was the biggest focus for the Bears.
24:06Ben Johnson said, we've got to be better up front.
24:08We can trust that the running backs are going to get used to the system.
24:11And he said, usually it's going to take about a full year before they get used to this style of running,
24:16but it's happened much faster than they would have expected.
24:19In the last four games, almost 200 yards on average on the ground.
24:24283 last week.
24:25You've got to go back to peak Walter Payton to find the last time the Bears had a ground game like that.
24:31On third and four, back to the air.
24:34Zaccheaus can't get it.
24:35It's incomplete.
24:36It was off the mark.
24:37The coverage from Flanagan fouls, and the punt team comes out.
24:40Yeah, so something worth noting here for this Giants defense.
24:43Coming in, they were a heavy man coverage team so far here in the first quarter.
24:48It's been a lot of zone, a lot of eyes on Caleb Williams.
24:51We don't want our backs turned when you're defending a quarterback like Caleb Williams who can do so much off script.
24:57So I like the change.
24:58I like the little adjustment.
25:01They bring out fourth down, and they force a punt.
25:03Torrey Taylor looks really cold.
25:08Career-long punt last week at a 69-yarder.
25:13Moves this one down to Oshesky over his head into the end zone.
25:17So a touchback.
25:18Well, we get a word from State Farm.
25:23Having insurance isn't the same as having State Farm.
25:26It's like needing the strength of this King Henry, but getting that King Henry.
25:31Huzzah!
25:32Salonitations!
25:33I'm here to lead with the team.
25:35No, no, I don't want this!
25:39Sorcery!
25:39Behold my majestic stride!
25:41Oh!
25:44You okay?
25:45No, I am not.
25:46So don't settle for just any insurance when they're State Farm.
25:50Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
25:54This Giants defense forces the punt.
25:577-0 game.
25:58Closing second to this first quarter.
25:59And Jackson Dart and the Giants offense trying to find some rhythm here.
26:03And really good in the first quarter.
26:06Since Dart took over, but nothing doing so far.
26:11Motivated Bears defense after giving up 42 last week.
26:15It's rare that around here in Chicago you've got one side of the ball that's dominant, the other the opposite.
26:20And it's the offense that's carrying the load in Chicago.
26:23Over, over, over, over, over, over.
26:253-8, 2-7!
26:27Under center here for Dart.
26:28Stumbled a little bit coming away.
26:30Steps up.
26:32Throws on the run.
26:33And it's broken up by Nashawn Wright.
26:35Covered John Wondale Robinson.
26:37Right one of the guys that's gotten a chance because of the injuries at corner.
26:41Yeah, the guy who's mostly a special teams player's first few years has done well.
26:46Yeah, so the disconnect a little bit between now getting Jackson Dart under center is so much of the run game for the Giants is out of gun.
26:56Because they're such a gun-heavy team, you can see he gets under center and tries to go early play action.
27:01But it just doesn't look like their run game.
27:04So the linebackers and everyone are dropping out.
27:06Remember, the effectiveness of the run is less impactful than marrying the two together.
27:10Down the sideline, Dart's throw is caught by Slayton.
27:16One-handed catch from Darius Slayton.
27:19How in the world did he do that?
27:21That was as good of a catch.
27:23I'll tell you, it was on the far sideline.
27:25We couldn't really tell if he caught it.
27:28He's fighting Stevenson and just sticks out that left hand.
27:33That is as good of a catch.
27:35I can tell you, that ball is hard as a rock.
27:37It's slick.
27:38It's cold.
27:39But to make that one-handed catch in these conditions, I cannot stress how hard that is.
27:45I'm with you.
27:45I wasn't sure that he caught it until I saw their sideline going bonkers.
27:49Same.
27:50This is the end.
27:5131 yards for Darius Slayton.
27:55He's in his seventh season in the NFL.
27:57The only guy that has averaged more yards per catch is A.J. Brown in that time.
28:01And he showed off why right there.
28:03But the NFL community heartbroken to share the news that the former NFL commissioner, Paul Tagliabue, has passed away.
28:11A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
28:13He was 84 years of age.
28:15Move the ball into Bears territory.
28:21Second quarter begins with the first and ten of the 49.
28:25Giants have gotten nothing on the ground so far.
28:29Tyrone Tracy's in there.
28:30Running back takes the fake.
28:31Dart looks to throw.
28:32Lofts one to a wide open.
28:34And Slayton.
28:35Much easier this time for Slayton.
28:38It's another big one for him.
28:4031 to finish the quarter.
28:4236 to start the second.
28:44Yeah.
28:45Jerry Stevenson.
28:45He just gets mixed up whether or not he should pass this off or stay deep.
28:50And just a great route by Slayton.
28:52Looked like he was going to run a deep post.
28:54Then he comes out of it on the out-breaking corner route.
28:57And he gets Stevenson spun around.
29:00Giants inside the 15.
29:01Dart play action.
29:02Outside Bellinger.
29:03Bellinger with nine.
29:06Sewell with a tackle.
29:11Yeah, so nice two back-to-back plays.
29:14We talked about how now they've got to get under center.
29:17And they've got to run the ball from under center.
29:19And now you'll see that play-action game really continue to make an impact.
29:23But that's back-to-back plays now.
29:25They shift dart under center.
29:27He's so comfortable in the gun.
29:29He's going to play primarily out of the gun.
29:31But a trend we're seeing around the entire league, you can take so much pressure off your offensive line and your quarterback throwing the ball play action from underneath.
29:41Second and two.
29:41They're running out of the gun.
29:43Singletary trying to find a hole.
29:44He can't.
29:45That may be a yard there.
29:49Yeah, and it's third and short.
29:51So the Giants running the ball.
29:52That's their fifth run.
29:53They've got minus three.
29:55Yeah, I wouldn't be shocked.
29:56Down here in the tight red zone, these are great opportunities for teams that are willing to do designed quarterback runs.
30:02You've got the guy for it, too.
30:04Yeah, and he's the best designed quarterback run through in his six weeks since taking over.
30:09Leads the league in attempt, yards, and touchdowns.
30:13We'll see what they call here.
30:16There's some confusion.
30:19Extra offensive linemen in the game for the Giants.
30:21Third down, it is Dart, and Jackson darts in for the Giants' touchdown.
30:29Got him down there with his arm, finishes the drive with his legs.
30:37There you go.
30:39Right on cue.
30:40They're in tackle over.
30:41You'll see Chris Manhurts.
30:42He's playing left tackle because they've got the three big bodies on the right side.
30:47It's just fake toss, quarterback counter, pretty much untouched, crossing the goal line.
30:55That's a really well-designed play.
30:56When you have a quarterback in the red zone that is a willing and able runner,
31:00it flips all the number counts in the run game in the favor of the offense.
31:04Willing, able, and eager.
31:06This guy to run and to stick his nose in there.
31:09Jackson Dart, he told us this week, look, I know it's unconventional the way I play,
31:13wanting to get up in there and get dirty with the big defensive players,
31:16but I just can't help myself.
31:18I enjoy that part of the game so much.
31:26Training day starts with a Celsius.
31:28First, the weight roll.
31:30Squat, press, arms.
31:33Then the straight-two conditioning.
31:34How I show up here is how I show up on game days.
31:38Okay, that was clean.
31:39Then I studied my playbook.
31:40Got to stay sharp on both sides of the ball.
31:43Quick pose for the cameras.
31:43And it's to the lake where I keep my mental game strong.
31:48Got to keep my energy right.
31:49Grab a Celsius.
31:54Influencers aren't.
31:55Who's Norma the left tackle to tight end?
31:57But look at the number count.
31:59They've got three over here, but look how many guys are on the left side.
32:03Runyon's going to kick out.
32:04Theo Johnson's going to pull.
32:06And there's no one even for Theo Johnson to block.
32:09There was five defenders to the back side of that formation.
32:14They ran it where there was only four defenders.
32:16And all that was created by just going tackle over and giving the defensive front a little bit of a more different look to try to get their run fits out.
32:25And then you get that alter ego of Jackson Dart, the most polite, you know, and then you get in the game and this guy just transforms into this swaggerful killer.
32:36They continue to ride him on the ground.
32:39He leads all quarterbacks in rushing touchdowns since his debut week four.
32:42That's his sixth.
32:44He's had four games where he's had at least 50 yards rushing.
32:46And five of those six touchdowns have been on design runs.
32:51Yeah, Brian Dable, I mean, he went through this with another young quarterback that has turned out to be pretty good, Josh Allen.
32:57In his early years in Buffalo before becoming the head coach for the New York Giants, he obviously ran that Buffalo offense and helped build one of the best players, if not the best player in the entire game, in Josh Allen.
33:08And there's a lot of really similar components that we're seeing him use, Jackson Dart, that he did with Josh Allen early on.
33:24Williams looks to throw.
33:25He's given time, lets it rip, and has Rome Odunze for a big one.
33:30Inside the Giants, 40.
33:3327 yards for Odunze, who didn't have a catch last week.
33:37That's four in the first half here.
33:39And this all just starts with the protection because Caleb Williams is trying to work to the other side of the field.
33:46This big dig route, it's on the back side.
33:49He's just going to come real late on the dig.
33:51And that is the last part of the progression for Caleb Williams.
33:55And it is not easy, especially against some of these guys rushing the passer, to be able to get all the way to your backside read.
34:03Now the play-action pass, this time on the move, turns the shoulders, lets it fly.
34:10Odunze again, but it's out in front of him and incomplete.
34:16We were talking earlier, Greg, about so much of it is circumstances for a young quarterback.
34:21The circumstances not great last year.
34:24But then you get Ben Johnson coming in.
34:26Talk about the design, how many open guys they have.
34:29Look at the weapons that he has.
34:30They've invested the skill spots, so many key guys there up front.
34:35They traded for a couple offensive linemen, bolstered that group.
34:39Caleb Williams has gone from a not very good situation to it would be hard to think of a better one.
34:44Surrounded by first-round picks.
34:45He's got a first-round pick.
34:46Two at receiver, one at tight end.
34:51And that guy got a yard.
34:53Robertson Harris has had a few stops.
34:55Yeah, probably the unheralded decision that started this kind of Ben Johnson regime was going out.
35:00They trade for Jonah Jackson.
35:02They trade for Joe Tooney.
35:03They signed Drew Dahlman, the center.
35:05And they pretty much transformed an offensive line that was historically bad,
35:09especially protecting the passer last year in Caleb Williams' rookie season,
35:13to not only being significantly improved in pass protection,
35:17but we've talked this the most explosive offense in the league,
35:20one of the best run-blocking units in the league.
35:22So, tip your cap, the front office pulls, Ben Johnson.
35:26They went out.
35:27They continue to surround their young quarterback with good players.
35:30Third down and eight.
35:33Williams.
35:34Sidearm throw incomplete.
35:35Phillips the coverage on Moore.
35:38So, fourth down at the 37.
35:41You figure this is out of field goal range,
35:43and they're going to send the punt team onto the field.
35:46And this is where it gets tricky on these windy days.
35:49You start doing the math on the sideline.
35:52You say, all right, we probably can't kick a field goal,
35:54but if we kick a touchback, we're only going to net, like, 16, 17 yards.
36:00So, you better really hope your punter is able to down this thing inside the 10
36:05for this to work out.
36:06We were talking to Ben Johnson about the weather,
36:08and he said, honestly, I'm still getting to know Soldier Field, how it all works.
36:12The slick ball or whatever, fine,
36:14but the wind is the thing that he's really concerned about when it came to special teams today.
36:19So, Taylor punts it down there.
36:20Osheski with a fair catch.
36:22Jackson Dart and this Giants offense taking the field again in a 7-7 game.
36:28Will you come back?
36:33Coming into the low 30s.
36:34It's snowing for the first time this fall.
36:37And 7-7 early on in the second quarter.
36:41Giants back on offense.
36:42Dart looks to throw.
36:45Dumps it off Theo Johnson.
36:47Johnson got a few.
36:49Jackson Dart and this offense really came to life.
36:52After not doing a whole lot in the first quarter,
36:54this is the last play of the first quarter,
36:56and it seemed to get him charged up.
36:57Yeah, that kind of was the spark,
36:59and then here's how they came out to start the second quarter.
37:02A little play-action pass, another one from under center,
37:04and then set up the third down,
37:07designed quarterback counter run,
37:09and that's Jackson Dart at its finest.
37:12Still nothing doing on the ground as Tracy runs into a wall.
37:17And it'll be third down.
37:19Oh, you're mentioning Brian Dable,
37:21who coached Josh Allen at the start of his career in Buffalo.
37:24Brian Dable is also with Tom Brady in New England at the start of his career.
37:27He said,
37:27I hate making comparisons,
37:29but especially when it comes to the it factor,
37:32the way that these guys command the room.
37:34At the age of 22 in the case of Dart,
37:36said it's hard not to think of those two
37:39for the way this guy commands.
37:41Third and six bears drop into coverage,
37:52so Dart's got time.
37:53Perfect toss for Slayton.
37:55Touch pass over the top,
37:56and a first down on a gain of 17.
37:59Yeah, and this,
38:00wait till you see this throw.
38:02He's got guys in his face.
38:04You'll see they start to all up pressure.
38:06Noah Sewell, the linebacker,
38:07he's going to drop,
38:09he's got guys right on his lap,
38:11and then to be able to throw it over 44 Sewell's head,
38:14they call that a goalpost throw.
38:16He can't even finish on his front foot,
38:19and he can still deliver it on time and in rhythm.
38:22Quickly back on the ball,
38:23fires it to the sideline,
38:25Wandale Robinson, 12 more.
38:27Jackson Dart fine in his rhythm,
38:299 out of 10 now.
38:35I mean, this,
38:35you just can't throw it any better than that.
38:38I mean, the last six weeks,
38:39as far as throwing for first downs
38:42or running for first downs,
38:44there's no quarterback in the league
38:46that has done it better than Jackson Dart.
38:48He's got the most of them
38:49across the entire NFL.
38:51Here's a toss.
38:52Tracy,
38:54nothing doing.
38:55Stopped by Edmonds.
39:00Brian Dable has tried to do his best
39:02to tailor this to his young quarterback.
39:04Jackson Dart for his entire life
39:05has been a shotgun hurry-up spread offense guy.
39:08You don't see that a ton in the NFL,
39:10but Giants are doing that more than anybody
39:12since he's taken over.
39:14From a terminology standpoint,
39:15they try to simplify it as best they can
39:17so he can get up to the line,
39:19spend as much time as he needs
39:20scanning the defense
39:22and not calling out the play.
39:24Green hand, two, you're set.
39:25Look to throw it again here.
39:29Turns the shoulders,
39:30delivers for Robinson again.
39:31First down inside the 45.
39:34Yeah, and it's worth noting,
39:36this is by far
39:37the most under-centered offense
39:39we've seen out of Jackson Dart
39:41since he's taken over.
39:43And look at the ability
39:44to operate in the play-action game.
39:47I mean, their run game
39:48has been completely irrelevant,
39:50yet they can move the pocket,
39:52they can change the rush lanes.
39:54Coming in, he was about 15% under center.
39:57Today he's almost 40%.
39:58I mean, it's a significant difference.
40:01And like we said,
40:02they've had him out of the shotgun
40:03because that's what he's done
40:04throughout his life.
40:05But the way to maximize things
40:07in the NFL these days
40:08is to do more of this.
40:10Under center, play action.
40:12In trouble here and sacked
40:14way back at the 46.
40:16That play stood no shot.
40:18Billings and Sewell
40:19and Edmonds all right in his face.
40:22But a flag comes out now.
40:30Yeah, so he got his helmet knocked off.
40:35Hard to tell if that's what the penalty was.
40:37I mean, the entire defense
40:39got back there.
40:43Oh, yeah, so you see Sewell there at the end.
40:46Dart's helmet's already kind of lifted up
40:49and we'll see, is that where the flag came?
40:53And the onus is on the defensive player
40:54to avoid him in that case.
40:57Avoid that high hit.
41:02Personal foul.
41:03Working the passer.
41:04Defense.
41:05That's number 44.
41:06Forcible contact to the head and neck area.
41:0915-yard penalty.
41:10Automatic first down.
41:11It doesn't matter that the quarterback
41:12was kind of headed in your direction.
41:14That is a roughing the passer
41:15and a bails the Giants out here.
41:18Yeah, and you can hear, of course,
41:19the Chicago Bear fans are not happy with the call.
41:22You see, Dari, he's just making sure
41:24he's got his wits about him.
41:26But you mentioned it.
41:27It doesn't matter if he's going to the ground
41:30or if you don't see him.
41:31It's a very difficult play to officiate.
41:35But that is the rule.
41:36It is the responsibility of the defensive player
41:39to not make forcible contact
41:41to the head or neck area of the quarterback.
41:42And at times, it's virtually impossible to avoid.
41:46But the rule is the rule.
41:48And the flag came out.
41:52Those New York Giants trying to snap
41:53a 10-game road losing streak.
41:56Have not won on the road since week five last year.
41:58Looking for the lead here in the second quarter.
42:01Here's a trick play.
42:03Toss back and then a dump off to Johnson.
42:05And that was a lot for a little.
42:09Yes, that's flea flicker tight end screen.
42:11I've run one of those.
42:12How did it go?
42:13In my entire life.
42:14I think I got like 15 yards at Minnesota.
42:17I was in Carolina at Minnesota.
42:20I promise I got more than minus one.
42:23I mean, a handoff, a toss back, a pitch down.
42:26It's a design.
42:27So it's a designed screen, right?
42:29So they're just running guys off.
42:31You'd love for it to be an actual flea flicker pass.
42:36But remember, the offensive linemen are trying to get in phase
42:39for the tight end screen.
42:40So there's not a ton of drop back protection on that play.
42:43So they lose the yard on that flea flicker dump off.
42:46Second and 11.
42:47Straight play action this time.
42:49Darts give it all day.
42:50Checks it down.
42:51It's a low throw.
42:52It incomplete.
42:53One to Robinson third and 11.
42:59Predictable passing situation right here.
43:02Spot of the field on this weather day that is no sure thing for a field goal.
43:05And by the way, Giants have a new kicker today, Youngway Koo.
43:13Graham Gonneau out again with an injury.
43:15Well, this has been one of the big spots where Dart has turned things around.
43:21They were 31st in the NFL on third down prior to him taking over.
43:25They are sixth on third down since he became the starter.
43:29He's going to run it off the right side.
43:32Jackson Dart, a first down.
43:34Jackson Dart with flags flying is inside the five.
43:3826-yard run for Dart.
43:43Yeah, so I think they're going to get the Giants.
43:45I think the first down will stand because it happened past the yard to game.
43:49But I think they're going to get him for a block in the back.
43:52Nice quarterback bash.
43:53Illegal block in the back.
43:55Offense number 82.
43:57Ten-yard penalty for the spot on the foul.
43:59It will be third down after enforcement.
44:01All right, so they weren't passed.
44:02So it was really close.
44:04So as they mark off ten, it's going to be third and real short.
44:10You're going to see here on the left.
