00:00Have you seen Colin Gillespie's stunning performance for the Phoenix Suns?
00:04On Saturday the Phoenix Suns turned to Colin Gillespie for additional scoring
00:08after his teammate Jalen Green left the game against the Los Angeles Clippers
00:13due to a hamstring injury late in the first quarter.
00:16In the first half, Gillespie made a significant impact by hitting four three-pointers,
00:21which equaled his career high for a single game.
00:24Notably, he scored three of those three-pointers in the final 319 of the half,
00:28contributing to a strong 19-4 run by Phoenix that allowed them to establish a 14-point lead by
00:35halftime. Devin Booker played a key role in this surge, providing assists on two of Gillespie's
00:41last three-pointers, and he recorded a total of seven assists in the first half. However,
00:47Gillespie struggled in the second half, missing all four of his three-point attempts. Despite this,
00:52he remained a crucial part of Phoenix's offensive efforts in their 114-103 victory.
00:58Head coach Jordan Ott has emphasized the importance of Gillespie being more assertive
01:03with his shooting, especially, given that he entered the game with a shooting percentage
01:06of 37.9% on an average of 6.4 attempts per game. Gillespie's journey has been remarkable,
01:15especially considering he went undrafted in 2022 and spent most of his first season recovering from
01:21a leg fracture. Gillespie played two seasons on a two-way contract, initially, with the Denver
01:27Nuggets before joining the Phoenix Suns last year. In the first half, Gillespie was not the only Suns
01:32player making an impact from beyond the arc off the bench. Jordan Goodwin successfully made both of
01:38his attempts in five minutes, while Royce O'Neal contributed with two additional three-pointers.
01:43Entering this game, Phoenix was leading the Western Conference and ranked fourth in the NBA for the
01:48average number of three-point attempts per game, with a rate of 43.2 attempts and a shooting percentage
01:54of 37.5%. On the other hand, the Los Angeles team struggled significantly, managing only one
02:02successful three-pointer out of 14 attempts in the first half, with James Harden being the sole player
02:07to score from deep, making one out of five attempts. Do you think Gillespie can maintain this level of
02:12consistency in the upcoming games?
