00:00Hi there Thomas, mixed emotions after that, obviously the team did so well to come back
00:27into it and think they were going to win it and then to lose it or draw it to death?
00:33Yeah, of course the emotions inside me are high of course, but I take the positive out
00:43of this game, that's what I believe, how I believe in we build a good team and keep
00:53adding layers to it, I think overall a fine slash good performance against a good Man
01:00United team is definitely in flow and we are talking a bit about our, how can I say, level
01:12of defensive attacking threats and to play against a Man United team that play with confidence
01:21with Vecunia and Amat and Bermu and Cescou coming on and we kept them down to five shots, that's
01:29just another example on the other way around, it's not that easy just to create in the Premier
01:33League, even that they had all their big boys out there.
01:38That said, our second half, our response, I was extremely happy with, we are playing home,
01:45of course we all want to win and you know, don't talk too much about home form and all that and
01:52I know we need to win before we don't talk about it, but the way we turned around to stay
01:57in the game, kept doing the right thing throughout second half, very, very happy with that and
02:04also so close to win it and on any other day we win it.
02:10There was a reaction to one of your subs from the crowd, but it felt like your changes on
02:13the day worked.
02:14Yeah, sometimes you're lucky, but of course I would say that every single time I take a decision
02:25to stop a player, it's with one aim to make the team winning or getting back in the team,
02:31sorry, back in the game or try to see the game out or whatever, it's only with one aim, try
02:37to win the game and no doubt Maciej did well, great goal, great involvement and in general
02:46I think actually we played a fine game, a positive, but also you need a little bit of freshness.
02:52Did you hear the boos when you were making the substitutions?
02:57I would just say every single time I make a decision, there's one aim, that is to make
03:03the team better.
03:04What did you specifically from Mathis, was it the movement up front that you just wanted
03:11to change?
03:12So much of this fixture from a Spurs perspective is centred on the Europa League final, four
03:24straight wins against United, was that something you could feel in the last few days, did that
03:27affect your preparation and can you see United's improvements since those games?
03:32I think I saw this game as one game ahead of us, I would love to do everything we could
03:40to try to win it, that was the aim of the game, I think I spoke before the game about it's
03:49clearly that they have improved this season, they look, how can you say, more in sync together,
03:59but also that I think especially in going forward, they look like a big threat, that's why I actually
04:07think, I know we conceded two goals, but you know, if we concede five shots in a game, probably
04:11if you said that before the game to me, I'd probably say, yeah, take that.
04:15So we're all happy.
04:16Were you expecting Brian to start on the left today?
04:19Yeah, I think, you know, seeing it's not the first time that Ruben have, how can I say,
04:28played around with the front three position, I think no matter where Brian plays, I think
04:32he's a threat, which he showed again today.
04:35Thomas, most managers will say that they've got to work on their team, there's things to improve,
04:41but is that game kind of evidence of that really? Because you're talking about your defence doing
04:49well, but then it didn't do so well, maybe clearing the ball for the first goal and maybe you didn't
04:57look as much of a threat as you wanted your team to until the last few, 15, 20 minutes?
05:03Yeah, so, please ask the question again.
05:10So your defence, you said your defence played well, but it didn't do particularly well for
05:16the first goal, it seemed to struggle to get the ball away and then you weren't as much
05:21of a threat with your offensive players as you might have been until the end of the game.
05:26Okay, I don't think I used that they played well the defence. I think I said if you concede
05:32five shots, then before the game you probably would have taken that. That's not the same
05:38at the two shots they had, maybe even on target, was two situations we probably could have done
05:46better in and we will of course look through that and go through the details, so that's
05:50of course a fair point. Then we play a game against a team where both teams try to cancel
05:59each other a little bit out. And, you know, we always want to create a little bit more,
06:06but you can then flip that and say, hey, we scored two goals in a situation where it's difficult
06:11to create.
06:13Hi Thomas. You started with a certain make-up up front today, made changes at half-time, then
06:20more changes with 20 minutes to go, which obviously worked brilliantly. Are you still sort of really trying to find the right combinations in attack?
06:26And what are you looking for? What's the team kind of not doing that you're looking for to get them to do?
06:33The team not doing in attack?
06:35I mean, just finding the right combinations. It feels like you're still sort of searching for the right blend.
06:39Yeah, I think that's fair. We are searching to find the right balance up front. I think when we looked the game back, I think there was positive bits going forward.
06:55And going forward also from the game, I think we created what we want, one of the biggest chances with Charleston from across from Brennan,
07:01after what, five, ten minutes. And sometimes the small things, he scores on that instead of Brian, it changed a little bit and opened up the game a tiny bit more.
07:10But, you know, we constantly work on the relationship and try to improve it with the players and try to find what is exactly the right blend.
07:22But I think there was small steps in the right direction.
07:25Was Colomani a physical thing?
07:28He actually struggled a little bit, but nothing big.
07:32Hi, Thomas. Just on from that, another injury update. Christian Romero came off with a couple of minutes left.
07:37Yeah, just done physically. He just came back from that injury. He's fine.
07:42So he'll be okay for international break? Yeah. How much of a blow was having him come off given the manner of the goal he conceded in the 96th minute?
07:50I mean, he's obviously a big threat at set pieces, both defensively.
07:53But I think his position, he wouldn't have been near the goal anyway. So it's a cross on the side, and then he would have been in the middle zone.
08:01So this was back post, so that wouldn't have affected anything.
08:05Hi, Thomas. Can you talk about Wolfs Noderberghe's performance today?
08:08Because he was really, really good and sort of followed up on Tuesday's performance.
08:12And also, why didn't you feel it was right to start him today as well?
08:16I think, you know, we tried to work around how we can say what is the best way to attack the opponent in front of us.
08:28Try and on the same time still, I can say, keep a little bit of flow.
08:35But I think we wanted two strikers, so we played to the left, Richard, but came more in for the crosses, which we think was an area where we potentially could hit.
08:46When United, I think it worked perfectly with the first one, where Richard get a big chance.
08:50So that could have been an unbelievable, fantastic game plan from us.
08:57So that was part of it. And we need different personalities and types for different games.
09:02And just Wilson.
09:03Oh, sorry. And Wilson, yeah, sorry. I think again, he's positive. I think he's stepping forward, or stepping up, sorry, and doing things that looks right.
09:16Thank you, guys.
