00:00Yeah, I think they've done well in a lot of games. I've been happy with that.
00:08I think one thing is that partnership, it's also what is the four players in front and what is the structure we have in general in the team that we need to constantly build on.
00:20But in general, I'm happy with both players' performance. I think they have been two of the stable performers so far this season.
00:29And just last one, would you be keen to take up his option?
00:32I think we are very happy with Ciao right now in every aspect. What will happen in the summer, we will see in the summer right now.
00:41I'm three months into my time here and we are building something and I'm very happy with Ciao.
00:50Tom?
00:51Hi Tom, back to Brian from BUMU.
00:54You've developed a lot of players over the years but maybe he's the most impressive example when he's taken from a championship to a 20-goal forward in the Premier League.
01:07Can you explain a bit about how you worked with him and how you improved him and what you can take from that when it comes to working with someone like Brendan Johnson?
01:17I think, of course, a lot of it is also down to Brian's mindset and how he works with a lot of things himself because the player is the player that they need to be willing to work hard to develop every single day through good times and tough times.
01:37We always say that, but I think we worked a lot over the years with him and the other coaches as well with how we developed his goalscoring abilities.
01:50The first person he came in, I think he scored 16-17 goals. It was incredible coming from Ligue 2 in France and going straight to the championship.
02:01So, there was a lot about, over the years, how he's arriving in the box, how he's finishing.
02:07There was also his more consistency in the hold-up play, so he didn't lose too many easy balls.
02:13And there was probably a little bit on that mental side of it, to be consistent, don't be too frustrated if it doesn't go too well.
02:19And right now, I think he's close to, not the perfect player, but a complete winger in many ways.
02:31He's got pace, he can dribble, he can cross the ball, he can score goals, he can arrive on the last line, he works incredibly hard.
02:38So, yeah, he's a good team player. So, yeah, decent player.
02:46Using that example, how to develop your own players?
02:50Yeah, but I would say that's what I try to do through all my years in football.
02:59Of course, I know it's about winning and put a team out there that can win, but my mindset has always been to develop people.
03:07So, that's what I try to do with the players we have here together with the very good coaching staff we have.
03:14And how I do it is, you know, try to have a positive approach to it.
03:20Of course, sometimes we need to be a little bit more firmer in spells, but it's about development.
03:26It's about, let's say, Brandon, how does he be more positive?
03:30What is his position when we build up? How does he arrive in the box? How is his linker play? Does he work hard enough?
03:36And that's conversations, that video clip, that is feedback, but it's constant feedback day in, day out.
03:42I know you don't read the press or follow the sort of narrative about Tottenham at the moment.
03:48But one of the debates has been about Brendan Johnson. He was obviously a top scorer last year, scored a goal in the final.
03:54And there's a lot of question marks about how he fits in to the Thomas Frank era. He obviously had a mixed night.
04:00He scored a brilliant goal. He got sent off to those as well, perhaps partially.
04:04What do you view as his role in your team going forward? Not only positionally, but also responsibly?
04:16I think I got, first of all, I got 20 players, so I can only play 11. Then we need some that need to come off the bench.
04:24And I say this year we overplayed more than 60 games, so that's a lot of games. That's one thing.
04:31In Brenner's case, I think he's very aware of all his strengths. Also, he started the season well by starting,
04:39I can't remember what it was, definitely a few, three or four games scored against Burnley and against Man United.
04:46And every single time he then comes in, then he scores against Doncaster, then he scores against Copenhagen.
04:51So I think he got something that is extremely important, the ability to score goals. That's quite good.
04:58And then arriving in the box and also on the counters, I think that's a super strength of his.
05:03So there's a lot of bits I like from him. I think he is good.
05:07Also to produce crosses and play a run on the side in those situations. I think he's a tactical, clever player.
05:13Yeah. I think he's a good player.
05:14Just last thing, back to Slanky. You mentioned a few weeks ago about Dragan being involved in a friendly during this international break.
05:22Yeah.
05:23Is there any chance of Slanky being involved in that?
05:26Yeah. Most likely not.
05:29And with that in mind, given it's November now and it's been going on for a while, is it fair for fans to expect him to play again for a fourth time 26th?
05:42I do hope so. I would say, let's see what will happen after the international break. We are still going steps forward, so it's on track so far.
05:55I think Spurge ranked 19 for shots per match this season in the league. You spoke at Brentford about making the chance bigger rather than creating shooting from distance.
06:06So is that low shot count by design? What do you put like that?
06:10I think 19 is probably not the... Then you need to be super, super, super good at creating the chances bigger, which I still think is a very important thing to do.
06:21I don't know the exact stat, but I'm pretty sure we don't top on creating the chances bigger.
06:28I don't know if you have that stat, but I think it's... I don't know, but I think it's probably a sign of that.
06:36We talked about it a few times that the free flow attacking is not at the level we want yet.
06:46That said, which is, I think, quite natural where we are with, unfortunately, a little bit new players and a little bit injured players.
06:54I think that's just part of it. No excuses. It's up to me to do what we can to make sure we put a competitive team out there while we keep adding those layers to be more able to create more shots and also, but especially high quality shots.
07:10Is it also sometimes maybe a confidence thing in terms of players, sometimes easier to play an extra pass rather than people just want to keep shooting?
07:19Yeah, maybe. I haven't thought about that because I think if it's the right thing to take extra pass, I think it's good.
07:26But it's more if in that case the right thing to shoot, then of course he should shoot.
07:31And would you want the approach to sort of be different at home compared to away? Is there sort of benefit at home, even if it's not a great statistic or something in terms of getting an album-caged?
07:40Yeah, I thought about that, but then I'm always a little bit aware of contradicting myself with messages to the players.
07:49But of course I'm aware if you shoot and then create an opportunity and energy into the crowd is important, but I still prefer not to shoot for 35 yards.
07:59That's probably not the best idea. But in good positions and balance, I think it's a good idea.
08:05Tom, and then finish with John, please.
08:07Tom, I've seen you speak so highly of Odom Boomer, would you have liked to have signed him in the summer?
08:12He's a very good player. He's playing for Man United and I'm very happy for him.
08:20Just looking at the table at the moment, there's three points between 30 and 11.
08:24How many teams do you think this season is going into the top four?
08:31Good question. I don't know. I think in general, I think the Premier League this season is probably the most competitive Premier League I've seen.
08:39This is my fifth year here, and every team is just so even. There's so little between the teams.
08:48If I see the other games and think, phew, you know, I've heard Slott talk about his Villa game, you know, small margins in that game as well.
08:56It is the smallest momentum change in games. It's very, very competitive.
09:06Do you think that idea that the big six, which you've gotten used to for so long, is now completely out of the window?
09:11I definitely think I've said that also the last couple of years. I think there's been the traditional big six.
09:19I think Newcastle is in there around the top seven. I think Villa is up there. Then that's suddenly eight.
09:25And then there's teams have done fantastic over the last year to say Brighton, Bournemouth also. So it's just, it's very, very competitive.
09:36And then it is just a different beast when you want to be up there to play Europe and compete in the league.
09:43Can I say with that in mind, how much of an advantage is it for a team like United where they don't have European competition?
09:50No doubt it's an advantage. No doubt. It's, you know, I said from the beginning, we want to be able to compete in both
09:56because that's, if we want to get where we want to be, we need to be able to perform in Champions League, Europa League
10:03and still top perform in the league. There's no two ways about it. That's for the fans, the status, the money, everything, what we want,
10:10achieve, ambitions. But to have a week to prepare for a game, to have the freshness, that means something.
10:20Spurs lost a lot of games last season, but actually won four out of four. Why don't we go back and look at those games?
10:27The Europa League final, for example?
10:29Yeah, we watched, I think it's, I didn't watch that back now because I think that we looked at Man United now
10:38and it was not the best game. I know, but it was a great win. It was the most important thing.
10:45And also more watch, also there's new players for Man United, so it's more looking into that.
10:51John to finish, please.
10:53You mentioned earlier on that you were saying that Spurs are far from where you want them to be.
10:57Do you think this team has to be sorted out in transfer windows, or is it what you've got?
11:04No, I think it's, I think it's, I mean, you know, if, I think there's two things.
11:14I think it's always taking a little bit of time to get your team to fully firing where you want it to be,
11:20and compete consistently every match. So we don't have too many, you know, let's say we lost to Chelsea, but it was a much better performance.
11:29Okay. And then probably a lot of people will be disappointed or whatever critical questions.
11:36But for me, it was the performance is the most important thing.
11:39Because can you have consistent performances, then you just know you can turn things around better.
11:43So for me to be consistent in every game-ish, playing in, I would say, be even more clear in the offensive part of the game.
11:55I think to compete and the defensive side, I think we ticked it quite well.
12:01And then of course, I think every, every coach want a fully fit squad to select from when you want to put a competitive team out there.
12:11I think, I think that's like, no, no complaints. I know we will have, I know we'll play, I know we'll do well tomorrow against Man Utd.
12:19But it's quite good to have all your good players available compared to not.
12:25Does that mean that you also need some cover strength signing?
12:29I think as I said at the beginning, I think we, I think we had a, I had a good squad.
12:36So I like to see first and foremost with the players we have here fully fully fit and available ready.
12:42I think that's the most important thing.
12:44What did you make of that final?
12:50A game that meant a lot to both, both clubs and teams.
12:58But it's not often the final, it's a, it's a, it's a fantastic, beautiful football game.
13:04This, this wasn't, but for us it was a fantastic win.
