00:00But to play different kind of chess, big draws, short draws, it doesn't matter.
00:06Longer you stay in the match, better are your chances to learn.
00:10That's the test of a character.
00:12That's you recognize that you have to go against your own nature because it's all about survival.
00:19It's your instinct of survival, your strengths, your mental toughness to live under this pressure.
00:27And I made many draws in a row.
00:30But still, you know, I wasn't ready to turn the tide and I lost game 27 and it was 5-0.
00:35One more game, one more mistake from my side, one more victory for Karpov and that will be the end.
00:43Could be the greatest victory ever.
00:45Fisher won a couple of candidate matches, 6-2 love.
00:50But those who are candidate matches, there's nothing compared to a world championship match.
00:56And Anatoly Karpov was just one step away from the greatest triumph of his life.
00:59Maybe the greatest triumph ever in the history of the world title matches.
01:05But he never made this final step.
01:08I didn't let him do that.
01:08And I would consider my achievements in that match, the survival, from game 27 to game 48, probably my greatest accomplishment.
01:21One of the reasons I always felt comfortable with new challenges is that I learned from my early days.
01:35And that's probably the result of lessons from my mother that playing chess was not just about winning or losing.
01:45Of course, you have to try to win.
01:46Of course, winning is vital.
01:48But on top of all, it's about making the difference.
01:55It's not just winning the game because your opponent made a mistake.
01:59Of course, opponent made a mistake.
