Nostradamos — The Entire Discography 1972-1974 (Greece, Psychedelic, Pop Rock)
The Greek band Nostradamos formed in 1970 in Athens. In 1972, they won the Best Composition award at the Thessaloniki Festival for their song "Give Me Your Hand." That same year, they released the album "Nostradamos," which, unfortunately, turned out to be their only release. They released several more singles, but due to internal disagreements, they disbanded in 1974. Guitarist Despina Glezou and bassist Stelios Fotiadis went on to solo careers. This compilation, "Oloklirî Η Deaskogórâφία Tous," released by Lyra in 1998, contains the band's only album, supplemented by several singles recorded at various times. P.S. All song titles in the album folder are written in English.Scandal and sudden downfall During their successful 1973 tour, the band traveled to Northern Greece. It was then that police and junta security forces went to a hotel in Thessaloniki where the band was staying and arrested Ippokrates Exarchopoulos and the band's sound engineer on charges of raping a 16-year-old girl, following a complaint from her family. Exarchopoulos denied the charges, saying that the girl was a fan who had followed the band from Kavala, without his knowledge. The girl was found inside the hotel and returned to her family in Kavala. After the arrests, the girl's father offered to drop the complaint in exchange for a large sum of money.
The band did not have the money to pay the amount the girl's family had requested, and they began to ask friends and acquaintances for money. The money was eventually raised and the girl's family withdrew the complaint. Charlie was subsequently released from prison. After the incident, the junta banned the band's music from all broadcasts and at the same time a directive was sent to all Greek schools prohibiting students from attending the band's concerts.
