00:00Tom Brady cloned his dead dog and wants us all to just pretend that it's completely normal.
00:06It's not exactly a big secret that legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady is a unique individual.
00:11After all, most NFL fans watch him try to act like a normal human being on Fox Sports commentary each Sunday.
00:17And then there's his bizarre relationship with nutritionist Alex Guerrero and his strange diet that seemingly banned, well, everything.
00:25But all of those quirks almost seem to make Brady a little more likable.
00:30Sure, he was weird.
00:31But who among us is not?
00:33Brady's latest quirk, however, takes things a step too far.
00:37According to People, Brady revealed that his current dog, Junie, is a clone of his previous dog, Lua, whom he shared with ex-wife Giselle Bündchen and their children, and who died in December 2023.
00:49I love my animals.
00:51They mean the world to me and my family, Brady said in a press release from Colossal Biosciences, a biotech company he is an investor.
00:59A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family's elderly dog before she passed.
01:10The company gave my family a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog, Brady continued, adding that he is excited about how Colossal and Viagen's tech together can help both families losing their beloved pets while helping to save endangered species.
01:25The bond with a pet can be deeply personal and irreplaceable.
01:29While it is incredibly painful to lose a beloved dog, some find it strange to try to recreate that bond by getting the same breed or lookalike.
01:38Instead, adopting a shelter dog and giving another animal a chance at a loving home is a far more meaningful way to honor that connection.
