00:00Laura Dern's mother, Diane Ladd, has passed away at 89.
00:05Diane Ladd has passed away at the age of 89.
00:08The actress, who starred in movies like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Chinatown,
00:13died after her husband, previous CEO of PepsiCo Food Systems, Robert Charles Hunter, passed away on July 31st.
00:21Ladd's daughter, Laura Dern, announced her death on November 3rd.
00:25Diane Ladd passed away with me beside her this morning at her home in Ojai, California.
00:30Laura Dern said in a statement.
00:32She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist, and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created.
00:40We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now.
00:44The Palm Royal actress was born to Diane Ladd and her ex-husband Bruce Dern before the couple divorced in 1969.
00:51Diane Ladd was married to Robert Hunter from 1999 to 2025.
00:56Laura Dern wasn't the only one to honor Diane's memory.
00:58Nancy Sinatra posted an old photo of the two women, saying,
01:03Diane Ladd was one of my closest, oldest, and dearest friends.
01:06We shared having our children, making our movie, and did a lot of growing up together.
01:11It was a wild, sentimental ride.
01:13She was a great lady, a fun pal, and a fine writer.
01:16I will miss her painfully, and yes, joyfully.
01:20Diane was a tremendous actress, Bruce Dern said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.
01:24She was a great value as a decades-long board member of the Screen Actors Guild, giving a real actress point of view.
01:31She lived a good life.
01:32She saw everything the way it was.
01:34She was a great teammate to her fellow actors.
01:36She was funny, clever, gracious.
01:39But most importantly to me, she was a wonderful mother to our incredible Wonderkin daughter, he continued.
01:45And for that, I will be forever grateful to her.
01:49We're sending Diane Ladd's family and friends our best wishes.
