00:05that American Eagle genes ad that caused an internet meltdown over it being considered by

00:10a very noisy select few availed reference to eugenics. Speaking to GQ magazine, the 28-year-old

00:16actress was asked if she was surprised by the blow-up over the ad. She said in part, quote,

00:22the reaction was definitely a surprise. I knew at the end of the day what that ad was for,

00:25and it was great genes. It didn't affect me one way or the other. She also said she just put her

00:31phone away and focused on her work instead of the whole ad hullabaloo. Probably a smart move on her

00:37part. Now, Sweeney went on to say that it was surreal that both President Trump and Vice President Vance

00:42weighed in on the controversy. The president told reporters after the ad sparked the outcry,

00:47quote, she's a registered Republican. Oh, now I love her ad.
