Police were called to a serious incident at Morty's Food Court in Launceston on Wednesday

afternoon after a car crashed through the glass shop front.

A pedestrian inside was seriously injured with paramedics taking the woman to Launceston

General Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the car has also been taken to hospital, though police say they don't

believe his injuries are life-threatening.

The crash happened around 12.20pm but police remained on the scene after 2pm as onlookers

gathered to observe the gaping hole in glass and brick left by the car.

Several workers who were inside the food court when the crash happened gathered outside the

police table waiting to see if they could go back in.

One woman said she heard the sound of glass breaking and came out to the shocking scene

of the crash before her husband pulled her out of the way.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
