India is set to establish its first Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductor manufacturing plant in Odisha under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Approved by the India Semiconductor Mission, the ₹2000 crore SiCSem project in Bhubaneswar will include an ATMP facility—marking a major leap in India’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.

00:00Thank you for joining us.
01:00This will be one of the first ISM-approved ATMP facility which will be set up in Odisha.
01:07And it's a watershed moment for us because it will lead to a lot of ecosystem development
01:15for semiconductors and electronics industries in Bhuvaneshwar.
01:19So land has already been allotted.
01:20It's a 2,000 crore project.
01:22The promoters are delighted with the support that they have received both from the Government
01:26of India, India Semiconductor Mission as well as from the Government of Odisha.
01:29Prior to that, RIR Power Semiconductors was approved by the State Government and the project
01:37is likely to start production in the next three to four months.
01:41We have another very important project which is 3DGS, which has also been approved by the
01:48India Semiconductor Mission.
01:50It's a revolutionary technology using the glass substrate for packaging, which again will
01:58position Odisha as one of the front runners as far as semiconductor development is concerned
02:04in India.
02:07So like the renewable energy and the cheap in producing this new projects, what type of
02:16chips is going to produce?
02:17So there, this one is a silicon carbide project.
02:22They will be manufacturing various devices, both RIR and 6M.
02:273DGS, as I mentioned, is a totally new technology and it will have a lot of demand across the
02:35world.
02:36So as I said, these will place Odisha as one of the front runners in terms of the technology
02:43that is being used for semiconductors.
02:45We also have a few other projects which are in the pipeline which are being evaluated currently
02:50and the way we have planned, we are quite sure that we will be able to establish Bhuvaneswar
03:00as one of the leading hubs for the semiconductor industries in the country.
03:05Sir, when the government came and the power, the policy has been changed?
03:10Yes, in fact, it was Honourable Chief Minister's personal interest and direction that we revise
03:17the semiconductor policy, semiconductors, electronics and IT are one of his very high priority areas
03:24because he says that they have the potential of creating a lot of jobs for our educated
03:30youth.
03:31So we have very substantially revised our semiconductor policy and brought it out.
03:36The operational guidelines have also been brought out.
03:39So also with the IT policy, IT policy has also been substantially revised and we are coming
03:44out with two new policies for GCCs and fintech policy.
03:48We have also brought out an AI policy.
03:50In fact, we were the first state in the country to bring out a policy for artificial intelligence.
04:14The common theory of adaptation and its intelligence.
04:16The interpersonal electricity has also been brought into effect during three decades,
04:18its
04:29several miracles have been constructed, now we are all related to something mentalным yoke.
04:31All the questions as such.
04:33But after the support of the reporting, it is, you know, he is basically what I expected to do here.
04:36But after the support of a variable has failed in the background like the perception of the çek LED,
