00:00Our honoree this evening not only has a reputation as one of the fastest growing live acts in modern

00:06pop and R&B, but his cross-genre collaborations have made him one of the most sought-after

00:13voices in music today. He embodies what venue was founded on, that venues are where artists

00:19and fans truly connect. He's played the biggest stages in the world, yet he still brings the

00:25intimacy and energy of those hometown shows, just like he'll do at the Sunset Amphitheater

00:32in El Paso, Texas. And with his latest album, After the Sun Goes Down, released just this

00:38last month, he's setting the tone for where music is headed next. Ladies and gentlemen,

00:43on behalf of venue and Billboard, I'm honored to present the first-ever Billboard Disruptor

00:50Award to Khalid.

01:01Well, starting off, this is really awesome. Thank you guys so much for the support through

01:09my career. I really appreciate it. I can remember doing my first venue, and there were 125 people

01:17at a coffee shop. And so to be able to see the things that I've seen in my career is just such

01:23a blessing, and it wouldn't have been able to have been done without support. So I just want to thank

01:28everybody for supporting me, especially me coming into myself as an individual and the public. But I've

01:35received nothing but love, and I hold it with grace and humility. And yeah, thank you. Thank you so much

01:42for this award. It's bigger than me in a way, and I really appreciate that. Thank you.
