00:00The BARM government is under the gun to enact legislation finalizing the redistricting of parliamentary seats for the region.
00:08As it inches its way towards such end, the poll body patiently waits and even assures to hold manual voting for the rescheduled elections in March next year,
00:18should developments not pan out favorably.
00:20Our Luisa Erisbe has the skinny in this report.
00:23The Supreme Court of the Philippines, or SC, has set October 30 as the deadline for the Bangsamoro government to pass a new law on the redistribution of parliamentary districts in BARM.
00:36This is in preparation for the rescheduled parliamentary elections on March 2026.
00:43But up until now, no new law has been passed by the BARM government.
00:47The Supreme Court refused to comment on the lapse deadline as there was no motion or manifestation submitted to the High Court.
00:55But for the Commission on Election, Sir Comelec, they are willing to wait until November 30 for the new law.
01:24ang pinaka-deadline naman more or less ng Bangsamoro.
01:27However, if the law has not been passed until the end of the month,
01:31Comelec can no longer wait until December.
01:34As with a given deadline, the ball body will be forced to prepare within just four months.
01:55For the worst case scenario, Comelec is open to the possibility of holding manual elections in bar.
02:02Makakapagpadali ng lahat sana kung manual eh.
02:05Kaya lang, na-experience na natin ang automated election.
02:09As of now, the Bangsamoro Transition Authority is on its second reading to pass a new law.
02:15Comelec is optimistic they will succeed by the end of November.
02:19Meanwhile, Comelec has recently released a decision disqualifying Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap Sulit.
02:25The Department of Interior and Local Government or DILG has directed the regional office
02:30to implement the decision and to let the sitting Vice Mayor, Katrina Teresa or Katie Angeles,
02:36to assume office as the local chief executive.
02:40She has also took her oath last October 30.
02:43However, the Supreme Court on Bank just released a status quo on the order today
02:49in favor of Yap Sulit while the case is yet to be resolved by the High Court.
02:54According to Comelec, this may forfeit the assumption of office of Angeles.
02:58Kung sakaling naipatupad na at ang ating katastaasang hukuman na ay nag-issue halimbawa ng status quo anti-order,
03:05so babalik ang sitwasyon as if wala pang tanggalan na nangyayari.
03:10PSC asked the respondents to file their comment within 10 days.
