00:00The Senate on Monday approved on third and final reading a bill rescheduling the first
00:05regular elections of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslimindanao or BARMM.
00:10Senate Bill No. 29-42 was approved and passed with 18 affirmative votes,
00:16one negative vote, and no abstentions to reschedule the BARMM elections from May 12,
00:222025 to October 13, 2025. Under the bill, BARMM elections shall be held and synchronized with the
00:302028 national elections and every three years thereafter. The Senate version of the bill is
00:36different from the proposal in the House of Representatives, which was also approved on
00:41third and final reading in the House to defer the polls to May 2026. Should this be the case,
00:47a bicameral conference committee will be held.
