The train will head from Kings Cross to Kent through the Remembrance period.
Transcript
00:00Yes, a poppy train will pay tribute to the armed forces ahead of Remembrance Day later in November.
00:09A high-speed train has been given a powerful new look to honour the men and women who have served in Britain's armed forces.
00:19Now, the southeastern train that is currently covered in bright red poppies and silhouettes of soldiers has been unveiled ahead of Remembrance Day.
00:30It will run between London and the Kent coast throughout November, helping to remind passengers of the sacrifices made by those who fought for their country.
00:44But when it comes to Remembrance Day, do Londoners think we do enough in the capital to remember?
00:53Well, I don't acknowledge it at all. I think it's worth celebrating in the sense that there have been some terrible, terrible conflicts in which young men have been sent to their deaths.
01:05I think we ought to recognise that. So I'm lucky I'm from a generation where we weren't sent to fight.
01:12I mean, I'm lucky I escaped that. And I hope that my children, 30, 28 and 26, managed to escape it as well.
01:20But there was a European war going on at the moment. And let's hope it doesn't come too much closer to home.
01:27But yes, I see the sense in celebrating the sacrifice that these young men were forced to make.
01:32I think it's really sad that actually we don't remember, we don't acknowledge it as much as maybe we did in the past.
01:40But it sounds good that they're doing a train that has lots of poppies on.
01:47And the thing that they do at Tower Bridge where they have all the poppies, I think that's really lovely too.
01:52But yeah, we probably don't acknowledge it as much as we used to, which is sad.
01:57Staff from Southeastern Armed Forces Network veterans and volunteers as well from the Royal British Legion gathered at London St Pancras Station to see the special train for the first time.
02:13Many wore poppies and stood in silence to reflect and remember.
02:18Alex South from Southeastern said the company was proud to pay tribute to all those who have served past and present in the army and to show support for veterans and their families as well.
02:34Now, as part of its tribute, Southeastern is also helping the Royal British Legion's annual poppy appeal with collectors stationed at more than 70 stations across the capital in London as well as the Southeast too.
02:52The train will stay in service throughout the remembrance period as a travelling symbol of gratitude and reflection.
