00:07According to President Trump, the U.S. Department of War should prepare U.S. troops for possible military action in Nigeria
00:15if the Nigerian government continued to allow the killing of Christians.
00:19The U.S. troops may very well go into that now disgraced country, guns a-blazing,
00:24to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,
00:30This, President Trump issued on Saturday evening in line with Greenwich Meridian Time
00:35after President Bola Ahmed Talubu personally signed a statement rejecting Trump earlier claim on Friday
00:42that Christians are being targeted and killed in Nigeria.
00:46Although President Bola Ahmed Talubu disagreed with Trump who had described the high level of insecurity in Nigeria
00:53as a religious war by Islamic terrorists against Christians,
00:57But, some Nigerians quickly took to the comments section of President Bola Ahmed Talubu's post on X social media platform
01:05and pasted a screenshot of a tweet published by President Bola Ahmed Talubu on January 29, 2014,
01:13wherein, President Bola Ahmed Talubu apparently had long accepted and agreed that the insecurity in Nigeria
01:21is possibly a religious war against Christians in the West Africa country, verbatim, in the tweet,
01:27Tenubu said,
01:29The slaughtering of Christian worshippers is strongly condemnable.
01:33It calls to question the competence of Jonathan, then President of Nigeria, to protect Nigerians.
01:39This old statement by President Bola Ahmed Talubu indicated that President Donald Trump of the United States of America
01:45may not be the first person to describe the insecurity in Nigeria as a religious war against Christian communities in the West Africa country.
01:54President Trump in his latest policy statement via his Truth social media platform on Saturday evening,
02:01said and in quotes that,
02:02If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians,
02:07the USA will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria,
02:11and may very well go into that now disgraced country, guns a-blazing,
02:15to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.
02:20I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action.
02:26If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians.
02:34Warning! The Nigerian government better move fast.
02:38According to President Bola Ahmed Tenubu,
02:41Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty.
02:46Since 2023, our administration has maintained an open and active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders alike
02:54and continues to address security challenges which affect citizens across faiths and regions.
03:00The characterization of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality,
03:07nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government
03:11to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians.
03:15Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so.
03:22Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it.
03:27Nigeria is a country with constitutional guarantees to protect citizens of all faiths.
03:32Our administration is committed to working with the United States government
03:36and the international community to deepen understanding and cooperation on protection of communities of all faiths.
03:43U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in a tweet on Friday had said that
03:49the ongoing slaughter of thousands of Christians in Nigeria by radical Islamists and Fulani ethnic militias is both tragic and unacceptable.
03:58As President of the United States said, the United States stands ready, willing, and able to act.
04:06In a swift reaction, Nigeria presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga replied to the tweet and said that,
04:13Dear Secretary Rubio, there is no ongoing slaughter of thousands of Christians in Nigeria.
04:19This is a gross exaggeration of the Nigerian situation.
04:23What we do have are sporadic attacks on some villages by bandits and terrorists and the attacks are religiously insensitive.
04:29Christians, Muslims, churches and mosques are attacked randomly.
04:35What our country requires from America is military support to fight these violent extremists in some states of our country,
04:42not designation as a nation of particular concern.
04:46Secretary Rubio, Muslim Lives Matter 2, President Donald Trump in a statement through his Truth social media platform on Friday,
04:54had said, Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria.
05:00Thousands of Christians are being killed.
05:02Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.
05:06I am hereby making Nigeria a country of particular concern, but that is the least of it.
05:12When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria,
05:173,100 vs. 4,476 worldwide, something must be done.
05:24I am asking Congressman, Riley Moore, together with Chairman, Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee,
05:32to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me.
05:36The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria,
05:41and numerous other countries.
05:42We stand ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population around the world.
