00:00Reports on Saturday early morning in the Africa country of Tanzania, indicated that thousands of youths in the country have continued mass protest in the Tanzania capital city of Dodama, also simultaneously in the country former capital city of Dar es Salaam which remains the country's largest city and its main economic hub, while streets in Wanzha, Imbaya, and Arusha have remained occupied by the aggrieved youths who the major opposition political party,
00:29chamber claimed have been shot at, and over 700 of them have been killed by security operatives since the violent protest erupted in the country on Wednesday over the 2025 presidential election allegedly marred by corrupt practices, but, the Tanzania foreign ministry dismissed the claim, saying, the Tanzania government is not aware of any death recorded or any of the protesters killed, adding, the government has not used excessive force on the protesters,
00:58This, the United Nations, UN Human Rights Office stated on Friday that it has a credible report of at least 10 deaths recorded as a result of killing of protesters by the Tanzania security forces, and information from border communities between Tanzania and Kenya indicated that, on Thursday October 30, in the afternoon, chaos broke out at the Namanga border checkpoint as Kenyan and Tanzanian youth threw stones at Tanzanian police,
01:27and the police responded with live ammunition and tear gas canisters, leading to a casualty of two people shot dead by police and two others, including a Kenyan police officer, was seriously injured, while violent protest continued across major cities in Tanzania.
01:44President Samia Sulu, President Samia Sulu, of Chama Chama Panduzzi, CCM political party was declared winner and the electoral body announced on Saturday early morning that the president secured a re-election figure of 97.66% of the votes, which, represents 31,913,866 ballots.
02:07In the October 29, 2025 controversial presidential election boycotted by the country main opposition political party, Chama, which the Chama political party did by not signing the electoral code of conduct after the set deadline and the Tanzania electoral body subsequently banned the Chama political party from participating in the general election and all by-elections till 2030,
02:33and this, is in addition to the disqualifications of challenges like Tundu Lishu of Chama political party, the main opposition leader who remains detained since April 2025 and other serious challenger, Luhaga M. Pina of ACT Wazalendo, was disqualified on technicalities.
02:51The final result showed Hassan 97.1 and 66 Jun percent of the vote, dominating every constituency, the electoral commission announced on state television.
03:03A quick swearing-in ceremony would take place on Saturday, the state TV said.
03:08On Friday there were reports that the Tanzanian president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, left her private residence in Zanzibar in a military chopper and some local media reported on Saturday morning that her whereabouts had remained unknown.
03:22Demonstrations erupted on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam, a city of more than 7 million people, after Das Kingsley Kanunter Kanu, the younger brother to Mazinamdi Kanu in an ex-post as reshared by barrister Aloy Ejimakor,
03:37the coordinating lawyer for the detained Biafra Republic agitation leader, Mazinamdi Kanu has given reasons why his elder brother had continued to defend himself on the ground of no case submission,
03:50saying, the federal government of Nigeria who made the accusations and filed the terrorism charges against the Biafra leader has not been able to pinpoint any aspect of the Nigeria laws that should warrant his brother, Mazinamdi Kanu,
04:04to enter defence, citing several court rulings that invalidated the federal government accusations against the detained Biafra leader,
04:13this, Kingsley Kanunter Kanu stated in reaction to the commentary of Dr. Sam Ahmadi, published on this day newspaper,
04:21after the detained leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, Namdi Kanu, on Monday, abandoned his earlier plan to call witnesses in his ongoing trial before the federal high court in Abuja.
04:32Namdi Kanu, who is being prosecuted on seven counts of terrorism charges brought against him by the federal government,
04:40last two Friday, had prayed the court for an adjournment after informing the trial judge, Justice James Omatosho,
04:48that his former legal team, led by a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice,
04:54Chief Kanu Agabi, Sam, had yet to release his case file to him.
04:58Though, Namdi Kanu had earlier expressed his readiness to open his defence in a written application to the court,
05:05in which he indicated his intention to call witnesses and requested the issuance of witness summons,
05:11but, at the resumed hearing on Monday, Kanu told the court that upon reviewing the case file,
05:17he had concluded that there was no valid charge against him.
05:21Namdi Kanu argued that since he believed the charges were unlawful and that the prosecution had failed to establish any case,
05:28there was no need for him to proceed with his defence.
05:31According to Punch newspaper, the trial judge, Justice James Omatosho,
05:37directed Kanu to file a written address formally stating his position and to serve the prosecution accordingly.
05:43Justice Omatosho further advised the IPOB leader to consult experts in criminal law
05:49to understand the possible legal implications of his decision.
05:53The judge thereafter adjourned the case to November 4, 5, and 6 for the adoption of final written addresses,
06:00based either on Kanu's position that no case had been established against him
06:04or for him to proceed with his defence if he decides otherwise.
06:09Kingsley can enter Kanu's statement as recirculated by barrister Aloy Ejimakor on Thursday,
06:14tagged, tagged, legal rejoinder, to the misleading commentary by Dr. Sam Amadi,
06:20published in this day of the 30th of October 2025, titled,
06:25If I were Kanu, I would not refuse to write a defence, stated as follows below.
06:311. Introduction. Correcting a misguided narrative, the recent article by Dr. Sam Amadi in this day
06:39at this day of the 30th of October 2025, suggesting that Mazi Namdi Kanu should
06:45write a defence instead of claiming he has no case,
06:48exemplifies how poorly informed commentary can distort constitutional discourse in Nigeria.
06:54While the piece parades itself as legal analysis,
06:57it fundamentally misstates the law and facts.
07:00President Bola Ahmed Tanubu of Nigeria has issued a revised policy actions over the 2025
07:06presidential pardons he had earlier granted to 175 persons,
07:12some of whom were convicted murderers, deadly kidnappers,
07:15which included Mayim Sander, who had spent barely six years and eight months
07:20at the Sileja Medium Security Custodial Centre after she was convicted and sentenced to death
07:25by hanging over the killing of her husband, Bilyamin Ubello in Abuja,
07:30who she stabbed three times repeatedly.
07:32This, President Bola Ahmed Tanubu in his earlier presidential pardon granted
07:38to the 37-years-old convicted and condemned murderer, Mayim Sander,
07:43had asked her to go home free because of her children,
07:46but, following public outcry and condemnation,
07:49in the revised version of the presidential pardons signed into law on October 21, 2025
07:55and made available to the public by the presidency on Wednesday, October 29, 2025,
08:02President Tanubu commuted the death sentence to 12 years' imprisonment,
08:07although, the presidency never mentioned the total numbers of people granted the presidential pardons,
08:13but, the list of beneficiaries made available by the presidential spokesperson,
08:17Bayo Onanuga, indicated that only 86 persons were granted the presidential pardons,
08:24and Mayim Sander apparently spelt as Mayim Sander was last on the list,
08:28and the names of earlier beneficiaries like Kelvin Prosper Oniara,
08:32were not seen in the revised edition of the list,
08:35maybe, the names were omitted due to excessive public outcry that Prosper Kelvin Oniara
08:40was a convicted notorious high-profile gang leader of a deadly kidnapping group
08:45that were widely stated to be responsible for the kidnapping and subsequent killing
08:49of a former Anambra state deputy governor,
08:52Chulian Wike,
08:53kidnapping of a prominent legal practitioner,
08:56Mike Ozekome on August 24, 2013 along Beni Nauchi Road
09:01and during the kidnapping operation,
09:03the gunman ambushed and killed four police officers including the divisional police officer,
09:08DPO of Ahor Division who led the police team in an attempt to rescue Mike Ozekome,
09:14outside that,
09:15the 44 years old Oniara was also stated to be responsible for the kidnapping of a judge
09:21in the Edo State Judiciary,
09:23a top female official of the Federal Inland Revenue Service,
09:27FERS,
09:27among other several members of the National Youth Service Corps,
09:31NYSC and security agents
09:33and Oniara was also stated to carry out several armed robberies and kidnap operations in Delta,
09:40Edo,
09:40Rivers and Anambra states,
09:42maintaining operational base and detention camps in Wari and Kokori community in Delta state,
09:49Ugbekolo community in Benaway state,
09:51Benin City in Edo state,
09:53and Aba in Abia state,
09:55that on the 18th of September 2013,
09:58Oniara issued a 60-day ultimatum to the Federal Government of Nigeria
10:03to release some of his boys who were arrested by the Department of State Services,
10:08DSS or he would wreak havoc on innocent Nigerian citizens,
10:12and,
10:12on the 25th of September 2013,
10:15a combined security team of the Nigerian Army and DSS operatives arrested Kelvin Prosper Oniara,
10:22a convicted notorious terrorist,
10:24kidnapped kingpin and armed robber,
10:26who had been on the wanted list of the security agencies,
10:29and human rights lawyer,
10:31barrister Jefferson Nua Haran has condemned and berated the federal government of Nigeria
10:36under the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tanubu,
10:39for arresting,
10:40detaining and remanding to Kuja prison,
10:42barrister Aloy Ejimakor,
10:44the lawyer to the detained Biafra Republic agitation leader,
10:48Marzi Namdi Kano after Aloy Ejimakor was seen joining the free Namdi Kano protest in Abuja on Monday,
10:55according to the human rights lawyer who have remarkable experience in fighting against police extrajudicial killing,
11:03one notable exception,
11:04is that a lawyer enjoys less freedom than others to speak publicly about his or her own cases,
11:10but not when it involves solidarity marches and protests for his client,
11:14the conducts of lawyers and the limit of their professional duties is the kennel of the alarming accusation by the presidency yesterday
11:21against the lawyer of Mr. Namdi Kano and his subsequent arrest by the police for his presence at a scene in Abuja,
11:28where protesters were marching peacefully demanding the release of Mr. Kano,
11:33the statement from the presidency and the police action is obviously a culmination of undisguised hostility towards the lawyer
11:39for having the temerity to represent a person the government have since prosecuted and convicted in the court of public opinions,
11:47ordinarily,
11:48a lawyer's bail application for alleged crime of illegal protest won't be refused,
11:53the refusal is concerning and turning a simple matter into a political case of vendetta and persecution,
12:00Bayo Onanuga,
12:01the special advisor to the president on information and strategy had on Monday tweeted while the free Namdi Kano protest was ongoing,
12:09that,
12:09I spotted a lawyer Ejimakor,
12:11one of Namdi Kano's lawyers,
12:13among the small group of protesters mobilized in Abuja by Omiyele Sawari,
12:18I wonder what Mr. Ejimakor was thinking when he decided to join this shambolic protest,
12:24as a lawyer,
12:25he should be aware of the principle of subjudici,
12:28particularly in relation to the ongoing treason case before the court,
12:32the prosecution has concluded its case,
12:34and it is now incumbent upon Mr. Ejimakor and the other lawyers to mount a strong defense for Kano,
12:41rather than focusing on preparing a strong case,
12:44Mr. Ejimakor has resorted to extra legal tactics,
12:48joining a career anarchist,
12:50to influence the process,
12:51meanwhile,
12:52few hours ago,
12:53the organizer of the protest and the founder of Sahara Reporter's news media,
12:58Omiyele Sawari stated via his social media accounts that,
13:02we have been informed that plans are allegedly in place at Kuja prison to harm Namdi Kano's younger brother,
13:09Fineboy and Aloy Ejimakor,
13:11his special counsel,
13:12inside Kuja prison by special warders assigned by the Asawaju bowler Ahmed Tanubu.
13:18Bayo Onanuga in the tweet demanded a slaction against barrister Aloy Ejimakor for joining the protest,
13:25calling for the release of his client, Namdi Kano.
13:28Accordingly, Bayo Onanuga said,
13:31I spotted Aloy Ejimakor,
13:33one of Namdi Kano's lawyers,
13:35among the small group of protesters mobilized in Abuja by Omiyele Sawari.
13:40I wonder what Mr. Ejimakor was thinking when he decided to join this shambolic protest.
13:46As a lawyer,
13:47he should be aware of the principle of subjudice,
13:50particularly in relation to the ongoing treason case before the court.
13:55The prosecution has concluded its case,
13:58and it is now incumbent upon Mr.
14:00Nigeria Police Force,
14:02NPF under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police,
14:05IGP Kayode Egbetokan who is currently in the United States,
14:09U.S.,
14:11attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police,
14:14IACP Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado,
14:18USA,
14:19alongside other senior police officers has warned troublemakers to resist the temptation of hijacking
14:25the free Namdi Kano protest slated to hold today across the West Africa country by the organizers
14:31and other group of Nigerians to demand the release of the detained Biafra Republic agitation leader,
14:38Mazi Namdi Kano.
14:39Also,
14:40the NPF reminded the organizers and the protesters to respect the federal high court order that
14:45restricted them from staging the protest in certain areas in Abuja,
14:49such areas which included Aso Rock Villa and its environs,
14:53the National Assembly Complex,
14:55force headquarters,
14:57the Court of Appeal,
14:58Eagle Square and Shehushigari Way.
15:00while assuring the protesters of protection.
15:03The NPF in a statement issued and made available by the force spokesperson,
15:08Benjamin Hundeyan,
15:10indicated that,
15:11the Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law
15:16and maintaining public peace in accordance with constitutional provisions.
15:21This follows the subsisting order of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division,
15:25given on the 17th of October 2025,
15:29by Honorable Justice M. G. Umar,
15:32in suit number FHC,
15:33ABJ,
15:34CS,
15:352202-2025,
15:40Federal Republic of Nigeria v. Omiyele Samore and four others.
15:44The order restrains the respondents and any other persons or groups acting under their instruction from staging protests within and around Aso Rock Villa and its environs,
15:54the National Assembly Complex,
15:56force headquarters,
15:58the Court of Appeal,
15:59Eagle Square and Shehushigari Way.
16:02In deference to the authority of the court and in line with the constitutional mandate of the police to enforce law and order,
16:09the force hereby calls on all groups,
16:11whether in support of or opposed to the ongoing agitation for the release of Marzi Namdi Kano,
16:16to adhere strictly to the provisions of the court order.
16:20The directive remains binding and enforceable pending further judicial proceedings.
16:25The Nigeria Police Force recognizes and respects the rights of citizens to peaceful assembly and expression.
16:32However,
16:33such rights must be exercised responsibly and within the limits of the law,
16:38particularly where public safety,
16:40national security,
16:41and the rights of other citizens are concerned.
16:43The court's intervention is therefore a safeguard,
16:47not a suppression,
16:48of constitutional freedoms.
16:50Accordingly,
16:51all intending protesters and counter-protest groups are strongly advised to avoid restricted areas
16:57and to refrain from any act capable of provoking confrontation or disturbing public order.
17:03The force will ensure the free flow of traffic,
17:06protection of lives and property,
17:08and security of all law-abiding citizens.
17:10Any person or group that uses protests as cover to incite violence,
17:16carry or use offensive weapons,
17:18vandalize public or private property,
17:20kidnap,
17:21or engage in acts likely to cause loss of life or serious injury will be dealt with decisively.
17:27Offenders will be arrested,
17:29subjected.
17:30founder of Sahara Reporters News Media and the organizer of the free Namdi Karnu protest,
17:36Omiele Sawari has refuted and debunked the reports circulating in some sections of the media
17:41that the federal high court sitting in Abuja has stopped the upcoming Monday,
17:46October 20th mass protest organized to demand the release of the detained Biafra Republic agitation leader,
17:52Mazi Namdi Karnu,
17:54saying,
17:55The media report is false and a calculated attempt to distract members of the public from coming out to join the protest,
18:02adding,
18:03Namdi Karnu is so sick that the people must come out now to set him free.
18:07The sickness as alleged by Omiele Sawari apparently challenged the medical report issued by the Nigerian Medical Association,
18:15NMA who had submitted its panel report before the trial court on Thursday that Namdi Karnu is fit to face trial,
18:23that,
18:24The sickness is not life-threatening,
18:26but,
18:26Punch newspaper reporter at the court on Thursday reported that it was the Department of State Services,
18:32DSS lawyer,
18:33who happened to be one of the parties in the dispute that presented the NMA medical report before the court,
18:40We are yet to ascertain the independency, fairness, objectivity, accuracy and transparency of the Nigerian Medical Association,
18:48NMA in conducting the medical examination.
18:52In a statement on Saturday,
18:54Omiele Sawari said,
18:56The Federal High Court in Abuja has not stopped the proposed free Namdi Karnu no protest slated for Monday,
19:01October 20th,
19:032025.
19:03Contrary to the misleading claims being circulated by police lawyers and sections of the media,
19:10no order was granted restraining citizens from exercising their constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
19:17Justice Umar of the Federal High Court declined to issue any ex-party order sought by the police to halt the nationwide protest altogether.
19:25What exists is a purported,
19:27court order,
19:28obtained in chambers by lawyers of the police,
19:31which has not been served on anyone,
19:33asking that protesters not protest at Aso Rock Villa,
19:37National Assembly,
19:38Eagle Square,
19:39and a certain Shehushigari way,
19:41the latest false claims designed to confuse the public and discourage participation.
19:46The protest date is sacrosanct.
19:48The movement is unstoppable.
19:50In another statement,
19:52Omiele Sawari said,
19:53I was deeply involved in the struggle for the validation of the June 12th election,
19:58and I remember vividly how the system operated back then,
20:02how they weaponized the judiciary to buy time,
20:05to deceive the public,
20:06and to justify injustice.
20:08They kept saying,
20:10Abiola's case is in court,
20:11using that as a shield for tyranny,
20:13until they eventually killed him a day before his,
20:16supposed,
20:17release.
20:18It was a well-orchestrated tragedy disguised as legal processes.
20:22Today,
20:24I see the same script being replayed with Marzi Namdi Karno,
20:27the same manipulation,
20:29the same excuses,
20:30fake narrators,
20:31fake protesters,
20:33the same abuse of process.
20:35The language has not changed.
20:37Only the victims have.
20:39History is repeating itself before our eyes.
20:42And just as we fought to expose the truth then,
20:45we must do so now,
20:47before it's too late.
20:48The Namdi Karno I saw in court on October 16th is very ill.
20:53We must rescue him before another citizen is sacrificed to the bloodthirsty Nigerian elite club.
