00:02:33and this, is in addition to the disqualifications of challenges like Tundu Lishu of Chama political party, the main opposition leader who remains detained since April 2025 and other serious challenger, Luhaga M. Pina of ACT Wazalendo, was disqualified on technicalities.

00:03:43Massive crowds earlier on Thursday gathered at the Dar es Salaam International Airport in Tanzania apparently to prevent members of the political elites from fleeing the country.

00:07:50of no case submission, saying, the federal government of Nigeria who made the accusations
00:07:56and filed the terrorism charges against the Biafra leader has not been able to pinpoint
00:08:01any aspect of the Nigerian laws that should warrant his brother, Marzi Namdi Kano to enter defense,
00:08:08citing several court rulings that invalidated the federal government accusations against the detained Biafra leader.
00:08:14This, Kinsley Kananta Kano stated in reaction to the commentary of Dr. Sam Ahmadi, published on this day newspaper,

00:09:00Though, Nandi Kano had earlier expressed his readiness to open his defense in a written application to the court,
00:09:07in which he indicated his intention to call witnesses and requested the issuance of witness summons,
00:09:13but, at the resumed hearing on Monday, Kano told the court that upon reviewing the case file,
00:09:19he had concluded that there was no valid charge against him.
00:09:22Nandi Kano argued that since he believed the charges were unlawful and that the prosecution had failed to establish any case,
00:09:30there was no need for him to proceed with his defense.
00:09:32According to Punch newspaper, the trial judge, Justice James Omatosho,
00:09:38directed Kano to file a written address formally stating his position and to serve the prosecution accordingly.
00:09:45Justice Omatosho further advised the IPOB leader to consult experts in criminal law
00:09:50to understand the possible legal implications of his decision.
00:09:55The judge thereafter adjourned the case to November 4, 5, and 6 for the adoption of final written addresses,
00:10:01based either on Kano's position that no case had been established against him
00:10:06or for him to proceed with his defense if he decides otherwise.

00:10:34Correcting a misguided narrative, the recent article by Dr. Samabadi in this day of this day of the 30th of October 2025,
00:10:44suggesting that Mazinamdi Kano should, write a defense instead of claiming he has no case,
00:10:49exemplifies how poorly informed commentary can distort constitutional discourse in Nigeria.
00:10:56While the piece parades itself as legal analysis,
00:10:59it fundamentally misstates the law and facts of Mazin Kano's case.
00:11:04Kano is not refusing to defend himself,
00:11:07he is asserting the obvious and unassailable fact that there exists no valid,
00:11:11cognizable charge known to Nigerian law for him to defend.
00:11:15That is not defiance, it is constitutional obedience.
00:11:192. The settled matter of rendition.
00:11:22A closed chapter, contrary to Dr. Amadi's impression,
00:11:27the illegality of Kano's abduction and extraordinary rendition from Kenya has been conclusively settled.
00:11:33It is not in contention and not on trial.
00:11:35The matter has been determined by
00:11:38The Court of Appeal, Paroludotan Adafope Okagie, JCA,
00:11:43in FRN v. Kano, CA, ABJ, CR, 625.2022,
00:11:52which discharged Kano on 13 October 2022
00:11:56and declared his rendition unlawful,

00:12:05and the UN Special Rapporteur on Counterterrorism and Human Rights, March 2023,
00:12:10both confirming violations of international law.
00:12:14The Federal High Court, which recognized the illegality of the rendition,

00:12:19The Supreme Court, for Emmanuel Ajim, JSC,
00:12:23who acknowledged that Kano's abduction
00:12:25was a grave violation of international and domestic law.
00:12:29Therefore, to suggest that Kano is
00:12:31hiding behind rendition, is disingenuous.
00:12:35That issue is res judicator,
00:12:38finally and conclusively determined.

00:14:12A man cannot be tried for an offense that is not defined by an existing law.
00:14:18To insist otherwise is to drag the judiciary into constitutional heresy.
00:14:224.
00:14:23Constitutional Supremacy and Non-Derogable Immunity.
00:14:27When the Court of Appeal discharged Karno on the 13th of October 2022,
00:14:32that discharge triggered the non-derogable constitutional immunity enshrined in Section 36, 9.
00:14:38No person who shows that he has been tried by any court of competent jurisdiction for a criminal offense
00:14:45and either convicted or acquitted shall again be tried for that offense
00:14:48or for an offense having the same facts constituting that offense.
00:14:53This immunity is permanent, self-executing, and non-derogable,
00:14:58as confirmed by Sections 1, 3, and 45, 1, of the Constitution.
00:15:03No law, court, or executive order can override it.
00:15:08Even in times of national emergency, this right remains untouchable.
00:15:12Thus, the Supreme Court's remittal order of 15 December 2023,
00:15:17being inconsistent with Section 36, 9, cannot lawfully revive a null charge.
00:15:24Under Section 1, 3, any act inconsistent with the Constitution is void ab initio.
00:15:30President Bola Ahmed Tenubu of Nigeria has issued a revised policy actions over the 2025 presidential pardons
00:15:44he had earlier granted to 175 persons, some of whom were convicted murderers, deadly kidnappers,
00:15:52which included Mayim Sander, who had spent barely six years and eight months
00:15:56at the Sileja Medium Security Custodial Center after she was convicted and sentenced to death
00:16:02by hanging over the killing of her husband, Bilyami Nubello in Abuja, who she stabbed three times repeatedly.
00:16:09This, President Bola Ahmed Tenubu in his earlier presidential pardon granted to the 37-years-old convicted
00:16:17and condemned murderer, Mayim Sander, had asked her to go home free because of her children,
00:16:22but, following public outcry and condemnation, in the revised version of the presidential pardon
00:16:28signed into law on October 21, 2025 and made available to the public by the presidency
00:16:35on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, President Tenubu commuted the death sentence to 12 years' imprisonment,
00:16:43although the presidency never mentioned the total numbers of people granted the presidential pardons,
00:16:49but, the list of beneficiaries made available by the presidential spokesperson,
00:16:54Bayo Onanuga, indicated that only 86 persons were granted the presidential pardons,
00:17:01and Mayim Sander apparently spelt as Mayim Sander was last on the list,
00:17:05and the names of earlier beneficiaries like Kelvin Prosper Oniara, were not seen in the revised edition of the list,
00:17:12maybe, the names were omitted due to excessive public outcry that Prosper Kelvin Oniara
00:17:17was a convicted notorious high-profile gang leader of a deadly kidnapping group
00:17:22that were widely stated to be responsible for the kidnapping and subsequent killing of a former Anambra State Deputy Governor,
00:17:29Julian Wickay, kidnapping of a prominent legal practitioner,
00:17:33Maiko Zekomei on August 24, 2013 along Benin-Auchi Road and during the kidnapping operation,
00:17:39the gunman ambushed and killed four police officers including the divisional police officer,
00:17:45DPO of Ahor Division who led the police team in an attempt to rescue Maiko Zekomei,
00:17:51outside that, the 44-years-old Oniara was also stated to be responsible for the kidnapping of a judge
00:17:57in the Edo State Judiciary, a top female official of the Federal Inland Revenue Service,
00:18:03FERS, among other several members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC and security agents
00:18:10and Oniara was also stated to carry out several armed robberies and kidnap operations in Delta,
00:18:17Edo, Rivers and Anambra States, maintaining operational base and detention camps in Wari and Kokori
00:18:23community in Delta State, Ugbukolo community in Benaway State, Benin City in Edo State,
00:18:30and Aberinabia State, that on the 18th of September 2013, Oniara issued a 60-day ultimatum
00:18:37to the federal government of Nigeria to release some of his boys who were arrested by the Department
00:18:43of State Services, DSS or he would wreak havoc on innocent Nigerian citizens, and, on the 25th of
00:18:50September 2013, a combined security team of the Nigerian Army and DSS operatives arrested Kelvin
00:18:57Prosper Oniara, a convicted notorious terrorist, kidnapped kingpin and armed robber, who had been
00:19:03on the wanted list of the security agencies, and he was subsequently sentenced to 20 years
00:19:09imprisonment which he had spent 12 years in prison before President Bola Ahmed Talubu had initially
00:19:15made an attempt to release him. Details of the three press releases issued by the Presidency in the
00:19:21course of the 2025 presidential pardons that elicited public outcry and rejections, are presented
00:19:27verbatim in a descending order of latest to former below. President Talubu signs instrument of clemency
00:19:34and pardons, moves Secretariat of Prerogative of Mercy Committee to Justice Ministry. President Bola Ahmed
00:19:41Talubu, GCFR, has executed the relevant instruments of release to complete the process of, formally exercising
00:19:49his constitutional power of prerogative of mercy to grant pardon and clemency to specific individuals
00:19:55who were earlier convicted for various offences. Following consultations with the Council of State
00:20:02and Public Opinion on the matter, the President directed a further review of the initially approved
00:20:07list for consideration in furtherance of the President's discretionary powers under Section
00:20:12175, 1, and 2, of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. Consequently, certain persons convicted of serious crimes
00:20:22such as kidnapping, drug-related offences, human trafficking, fraud, unlawful possession of firearms, arms
00:20:30dealing, etc., were deleted from the list. Others who had been hitherto pardoned in the old list had their
00:20:37sentences commuted. This action became necessary in view of the seriousness and security implications
00:20:43of some of the offences, the need to be sensitive to the feelings of the victims of the crimes and
00:20:48society in general, the need to boost the morale of law enforcement agencies and adherence to bilateral
00:20:54obligations. The concept of justice as a three-way traffic for the accused, the victim, and the state,
00:21:01society also guided the review. The approved list of eligible beneficiaries has been transmitted to
00:21:08the Nigerian Correctional Service for implementation in line with the duly signed instruments of
00:21:13release. Furthermore, to ensure that future exercises meet public expectations and best practices,
00:21:20the President has directed the immediate relocation of the Secretariat of the Presidential Advisory Committee
00:21:26on prerogative of mercy from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties to the Federal Ministry of
00:21:31Justice Justice. President Tanubu also directed the Attorney General of the Federation to issue
00:21:37appropriate guidelines for the exercise of the power of prerogative of mercy, which includes compulsory
00:21:43consultation with relevant prosecuting agencies. This will ensure that only persons who fully meet the
00:21:50stipulated legal and procedural requirements will henceforth benefit from the issuance of instruments of
00:21:55release. The President appreciated the constructive feedback and engagement from stakeholders and

00:22:35inmate approved for clemency under the recent exercise of the President's power of prerogative
00:22:40of mercy has been released from custody. The process remains at the final administrative stage,
00:22:46which includes a standard review to ensure that all names and recommendations fully comply with
00:22:51established legal and procedural requirements before any instrument of release is issued.
00:22:56It is important to note that the last stage of the exercise, after approval by the Council of State,
00:23:03is the issuance of the instrument for the implementation of the decision concerning each
00:23:07beneficiary. This stage affords an opportunity for a final look at the list for remedial purposes,
00:23:14if any, before the instrument is forwarded to the Comptroller General of Corrections for Necessary Action.
00:23:19This verification process is part of the standard protocol and reflects the government's commitment

00:24:23drug offenders, foreigners, Major General Maman Vatsa, Major Okubo, Professor Magagigaba,

01:01:41his client's interests or speaking to the press to clarify the allegations against his client.
01:01:47This is similar in reality and desperation in capital offence cases. When government determinately
01:01:53provide the judge, prosecutor, and free turncoat indolent defense counsels for accused persons,
01:01:59the government is determined to waste a trinity of conspiracy and collusion against indigent and poor

01:07:25the National Assembly Complex, Force Headquarters, the Court of Appeal, Eagle Square and Shehushigari Way,
01:07:32while assuring the protesters of protection. The NPF in a statement issued and made available by the
01:07:39force spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyan, indicated that, the Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its
01:07:45unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining public peace in accordance with
01:07:51constitutional provisions. This follows the subsisting order of the Federal High Court,

01:08:16The order restrains the respondents and any other persons or groups acting under their instruction from

01:08:28Force Headquarters, the Court of Appeal, Eagle Square and Shehushigari Way. In deference to the
01:08:35authority of the court and in line with the constitutional mandate of the police to enforce
01:08:40law and order, the force hereby calls on all groups, whether in support of or opposed to the
01:08:45ongoing agitation for the release of Mazi Namdi Kano, to adhere strictly to the provisions of the
01:08:51court order. The directive remains binding and enforceable pending further judicial proceedings.
01:08:57The Nigeria Police Force recognizes and respects the rights of citizens to peaceful assembly and
01:09:03expression. However, such rights must be exercised responsibly and within the limits of the law,
01:09:09particularly where public safety, national security, and the rights of other citizens
01:09:14are concerned. The court's intervention is therefore a safeguard, not a suppression,

01:09:56or serious injury will be dealt with decisively. Offenders will be arrested, subjected to full
01:10:02investigation, and prosecuted under relevant criminal laws, including laws relating to
01:10:08public order, violent conduct and terrorism where applicable. Those who incite others via social
01:10:14media or other platforms should note that digital evidence will be used in investigations and prosecutions.
01:10:21The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kar-Yode Adeolu Egbetokan has directed the FCT Commissioner of Police

01:10:35and strategic deployments across vulnerable locations, and ensure the safety of residents and lawful
01:10:41activities in the FCT. All organizers and participants are therefore advised to avoid the restricted areas

01:16:27constitutional right to peaceful assembly. Justice Umar of the Federal High Court declined to issue any
01:16:34ex-party order sought by the police to halt the nationwide protest altogether. What exists is a
01:16:40purported, court order, obtained in chambers by lawyers of the police, which has not been served on
01:16:46anyone, asking that protesters not protest at Aso Rock Villa, National Assembly, Eagle Square,
01:16:52and a certain Shehushigari Way, the latest false claims designed to confuse the public and discourage
01:16:58participation. The protest date is sacrosanct. The movement is unstoppable. In another statement,
01:17:05Omiyele Sawari said, I was deeply involved in the struggle for the validation of the June 12 election,
01:17:12and I remember vividly how the system operated back then, how they weaponized the judiciary to buy time,
01:17:18to deceive the public, and to justify injustice. They kept saying, Abiola's case is in court,
01:17:25using that as a shield for tyranny, until they eventually killed him a day before his, supposed,
01:17:31release. It was a well-orchestrated tragedy disguised as legal processes. Today, I see the same script
01:17:38being replayed with Mazi Namdi Kano, the same manipulation, the same excuses, fake narrators,
01:17:45fake protesters, the same abuse of process. The language has not changed. Only the victims have.
01:17:52History is repeating itself before our eyes. And just as we fought to expose the truth then,
01:17:59we must do so now, before it's too late. The Namdi Kano I saw in court on October 16 is very ill.

01:18:13Punch newspaper had during the week reported that the Nigerian Medical Association on Thursday
01:18:19informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that the illness of the leader of the indigenous people of
01:18:24Biafra, Namdi Kano, is not life-threatening. The medical panel set up by the NMA president said it
01:18:31had concluded the health assessment ordered by the court on the IPOB leader and found that Kano is
01:18:37fit to stand trial. About two weeks ago, the trial judge, Justice James Omatosho, directed the association
01:18:45to independently assess Kano's health status following conflicting medical reports presented
01:18:51by the defense and the prosecution. While DSS counsel, Mr. Awamalo Adigbo-Egba, S.A.N.,
01:18:58maintained that Kano's health could be adequately managed at the DSS medical facility, the defense
01:19:04counsel, Mr. Onyechi Ikpizu, S.A.N., insisted that his client's health was deteriorating and that he
01:19:10should be taken to the national hospital for proper care. This prompted Justice Omatosho to order the NMA to
01:19:17conduct an independent medical examination to determine, among other things, whether the DSS
01:19:23medical facility could cater to Kano's needs or if he should be transferred to the national hospital as
01:19:28requested by the defense. The report is also expected to determine whether Kano is fit to stand trial.
01:19:36However, at the previous sitting, Omatosho had to adjourn for October 16th for the presentation of
01:19:43Kano's medical examination report by the NMA due to the inability of the panel to conclude its assessment
01:19:49of the IPOB leader's health status and present its findings before the court. The DSS requested a
01:19:56one-week adjournment to allow the NMA Medical Board to conclude its investigation. Kano is currently being
01:20:03prosecuted by the federal government on charges relating to alleged terrorism. According to the
01:20:09panel's report, which was submitted to the court on October 13th, by the prosecution team led by
01:20:15Awamalo and partly read in open court during Thursday's proceedings, the medical body stated that
01:20:21the defendant's ailment does not pose any immediate danger to his life and confirmed that he is fit
01:20:26to stand trial. Relying on the medical findings and in the absence of any objection from counsel to the
01:20:32parties, Omatosho ruled that the court was satisfied that the defendant could proceed with his trial and
01:20:38okayed the medical facility of the DSS for his medical care. The judge consequently granted Kano six
01:20:45consecutive days, beginning from October 23rd to 30, to open and close. The defendant has until the 30th
