00:00Yes, today we are here at our Mercedes-Benz Trucks test site in Oteheim and we have brought along a whole range of our construction vehicle range.
00:11The vehicles are standing behind me. Of course, this is not the entire portfolio that we can offer here, but we do have some axle variants.
00:20We have a 6x4 vehicle here, and a 4x2 Artigo.
00:24The Aroxus in its heaviest version as an 8x8 tipper was there and we had some trade journalists dig it around the site today.
00:37Yes, it was wonderful in this weather.
00:41There were some beautiful pictures with a lot of dust and, ah, impressive for everyone, especially for the journalists who hadn't driven a vehicle here on off-road terrain for a long time.
00:54But it never ceases to amaze us how easily a vehicle, our Arocs with a total weight of 32 to 41 tons, can be moved around here on the terrain.
01:04Especially when you consider that we have partly recreated extreme terrain conditions here synthetically.
01:14Some of them also develop naturally.
01:18Yes, we have gradients of 30 to 40% here, and the vehicles with our turbo tartar clutch in particular, they go up as if it were nothing.
01:26You can even reverse them down in a very finely controlled manner when the forward gear is engaged.
01:34This is only possible with the Arocs.
01:36Many other things too.
01:38We also showed that the vehicles are of course state of the art, also in terms of assistance systems.
01:44GSR is a keyword here.
01:46Yes, we have our active sideguard assist.
01:49Everything is there, because we know that construction vehicles are also used a lot in inner city areas, depending on the application, and that is a very crucial point.
02:00Yes, the journalists were once again impressed with the ease with which the vehicles can be moved around the site.
02:06With tonnages, yes, 32 to 41 tons on extreme gradients, in articulations, yes, which also shows what a torsion-friendly frame can do.
02:18For many, it was also interesting to learn how to handle longitudinal and transverse locks, how to handle them, and what constitutes off-road driving.
02:27In the end, everyone mastered the task of driving the vehicles around a course with flying colors, which is of course always a great experience.
02:37The Arocs is simply the Mercedes for construction sites and off-road applications.
02:42Of course, there are also overlaps with on-road applications and heavy-duty tractors.
02:48Our customers can order the components in a mix.
02:50Each customer can put together the vehicle that is exactly right for their application from this modular system of components.
03:00We know that this is what matters today when a transport company wants to work economically.
03:06And yes, we simply demonstrated that here today.
03:10There were vehicles with very different areas of application.
03:13From the 15-tonne Atego to the 41-tonne 8x8 Arocs with turbo retarder clutch, which offers wear-free starting and braking.
03:25This is for example for customers in Bergechen, Switzerland, who also pull low loaders.
03:30For them, this is very important.
03:32Yes, from our side, it was of course great fun to work together with colleagues from various departments.
03:38On the one hand, there are the colleagues from the industry information center, who are of course very familiar with the needs of the customers, because they advise them on a daily basis.
03:48Then there were colleagues from the design and development departments from the testing department, who in turn looked after individual components over a long period of time and then, so to speak, found their babies here in the Arocs.
04:00They looked after them and, yes, the collaboration with the communications department in particular is always a nice change for us and we always have a lot of fun doing it with you.
04:12Anyone who thinks about the future also likes to look back on history.
04:17That's why we still have a vehicle from Mercedes-Benz Trucks Classic from the year 1968 with us today, a 1519 from the Cubic Series, and it's a very special one, and we're really glad we picked it up in time.
04:31It's actually one of the first vehicles in this series, which was characterized by an angular chassis.
04:39It was one of the first vehicles with an air-sprung rear axle, and we know that on road tippers, which are mainly used on the road and less off-road, are also predominantly equipped with air suspension on the rear axle.
04:51So, in this respect, Grandpa met his grandson.
04:58Many thanks to Mercedes-Benz Trucks Classic for bringing the vehicle here and picking it up again.
