00:03Today we're talking about the brand new Honda N1E.
00:08Honda's smallest electric car to date, which impresses not only with its compact design,
00:13but also with its ability to function as a mobile power source for household appliances or even entire apartments.
00:20The small city car, which recently caused a stir as a prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed,
00:25is now officially celebrating its premiere in Japan.
00:30The Honda N1E is a classic representative of the CHI category,
00:34designed specifically for the Japanese market.
00:38With a length of less than 3.4 meters, a high roof and an almost square body,
00:43the vehicle presents itself in a charming retro look with an almost robotic front end.
00:51The production version does without the flared wheel arches of the exhibition vehicle
00:55in order to comply with the strict CHI specifications in Japan.
00:58These regulate, among other things, dimensions and performance.
01:03Under the hood is a single electric motor with a maximum of 64 horsepower,
01:07as stipulated by the CHI regulations.
01:11The battery is likely to be similarly sized to that of its sister model,
01:15the Honda NV, which has a range of around 245 kilometers.
01:19Charging takes place via a DC connection with up to 50 kilowatts charging capacity.
01:27Not particularly fast, but sufficient to charge the small battery in around 30 minutes.
01:33The interior has a tidy, functional ambience.
01:37Particularly pleasing is that Honda has not completely dispensed with physical controls.
01:42In addition to the central touchscreen, there are still classic buttons and a rotary control for the volume.
01:48The driving modes can also be easily selected at the touch of a button,
01:53including a one-pedal mode for efficient driving in city traffic.
01:56A practical storage area below the display offers space for a smartphone,
02:02but without wireless charging,
02:04and the 5050 folding rear seats significantly increase everyday suitability.
02:11The real innovation, however, lies in the so-called V2L technology, short for vehicle to load.
02:16This allows the Honda N1 to be used as an emergency power supply,
02:21e.g. in the event of a power outage or when camping.
02:25Using a separately available adapter from the Honda accessories range,
02:29users can supply household appliances, electric bicycles or laptops with energy directly from the vehicle.
02:37Those who prefer a sportier look can also find a tuning kit with Shelby-style decorative stripes
02:42and a practical LED display for the charge level.
02:44The market launch in Japan will take place in September.
02:50At the same time, the small electric car will be presented to the European public
02:53for the first time at the IAA in Munich.
02:58The price has not yet been officially announced,
03:00but is likely to be around €20,000 based on similar models.
03:06A launch in the U.S. market is not planned.
