Das neue BMW 2er Gran Coupé F78 streckt den Radstand um 110 mm, bietet mehr Platz im Fond und kommt als BMW 225L mit 204 PS sowie BMW M235L mit 300 PS exklusiv nach China. Gefertigt wird die Langversion im Werk Shenyang und trägt serienmäßig die beleuchtete Iconic-Glow-Niere.

00:00Hello and welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog, where today we're talking
00:04about the long version of the BMW 2 Series Grand Coupe, specially developed for China
00:10and known internally as the F78. The wheelbase of the well-known short version, the F74,
00:16has been extended by 11 cm for the Chinese market, which is immediately noticeable in
00:21the longer roofline and the significantly larger front doors. The extra length pays
00:27off in the interior, especially in the second row. Passengers enjoy noticeably more legroom
00:34and a more airy feeling, even if luxury extras such as the CT screen, which is offered by the
00:39Chinese 5 Series long version, the G68, are not available here. With an exterior length of just
00:46under 4.7 m and a wheelbase of almost 2.8 m, the extended 2 Series Grand Coupe is already close
00:53to the 3 Series from a German perspective, but compared to the Chinese 3 Series long version,
00:58the G28 LCI, there is still enough distance for local customers. Like other long versions,
01:04the F80 is manufactured directly in Shenyang. The plant is part of the Dedong complex and was
01:10already one of the most productive locations in the BMW Group's global production network last year.
01:15Initial images show the longer 2 Series as the BMW 1225L and the even sportier BMW M53L.
01:24A short L at the back of the lettering is enough to clarify things. In China, there is No. 2 Series
01:30Grand Coupe without an extended wheelbase. Both variants feature the illuminated iconic
01:35Glow Kidney Grill, which ensures a distinctive appearance, especially at dusk. The 225E produces
01:42204 horsepower and, despite the higher name, remains below the 218 horsepower BMW 223 Grand
01:50Coupe offered in Europe. The M255L uses the 300 horsepower engine familiar from the local M235.
