00:09With the R-880, the Robinson Helicopter Company has unveiled its first new helicopter model in 15 years.
00:17It is the largest and most powerful helicopter that the manufacturer from Torrance, California has ever built.
00:23Robinson has been a leader in the areas of training, passenger and cargo flights since the market launch of the R-22 in 1979 and is making a clear statement in the light helicopter segment with the R-88.
00:38Around 13,000 units of the predecessor models R-22, R-44 and R-66 have been delivered to date.
00:46Now Robinson is breaking new ground with the R-88.
00:49Even though the helicopter retains some of the brand's typical design features, such as the high rotor mast and the two-blade main rotor, the cabin is considerably larger than previous models with a volume of a good 7 cubic meters.
01:05Either two rows of seats with four or three seats or a spacious cargo hold can be integrated behind the pilots.
01:13The controls are a novelty in the cockpit.
01:15Instead of a central joystick with side grips for the pilot and co-pilot, there are now two separate joysticks.
