Senior military officer charged with accepting RM34,500 bribe from smugglers

A senior military officer has pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to a charge of accepting RM34,500 in bribes.

The 53-year-old officer, attached to the Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation's warfare planning and campaign branch, is accused of accepting RM34,500 in bribes from two individuals as an inducement not to report smuggling activities in Kota Tinggi, Johor, which came under his official duties.
