00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:09Today, we're all about an exciting breakthrough in automotive production,
00:13the Humanoid Robot Figure 02, which was tested at the BMW Group plant in Spartanburg.
00:20This robot from the Californian company figure is setting new standards in robotics
00:24and demonstrating how advanced technology can revolutionize production.
00:30It was successfully used in a multi-week test run and body construction
00:34to place sheet metal parts and fixtures that are then assembled as part of the body.
00:40The precision and dexterity with which the robot performs this task is particularly impressive.
00:47Its ability almost mimics human tactile skills.
00:51But the figure too can do even more.
00:54Its use relieves employees of ergonomically unfavorable and tiring tasks.
01:00It thus demonstrates its potential to make workplaces not only more efficient,
01:05but also safer and healthier.
01:08In collaboration with Figure, the BMW Group is intensively testing how such humanoid robots
01:14can be safely and effectively integrated into existing production systems.
01:18Insights into the communication between humans, robots, and production systems play a central role in this process.
01:25These tests are part of the BMW IAC3 initiative, with which the BMW Group is shaping the production of the future
01:32with a focus on efficiency, digitalization, and sustainability.
01:37The Figio Note 2 is not just any robot, but the most technologically advanced model of its kind to date.
01:43It has three times the computing power of its predecessor, state-of-the-art cameras, microphones and sensors,
01:51a more powerful battery and fourth-generation hands in human size.
01:55With 16 active degrees of freedom per hand and strength comparable to that of a human,
02:00the robot can precisely perform highly complex two-handed tasks.
02:04Dynamic movements, millimeter-precise placement of parts and the coordination of both hands
02:11are just some of its impressive capabilities.
02:16Bradcock, the founder and CEO of Figure, emphasized that the Figure Note 2 can handle a variety of autonomous tasks
02:23that would be physically demanding, repetitive or dangerous for humans.
02:26This robot is therefore making an important contribution to improving working conditions
02:33and increasing efficiency in automotive production.
02:37With this successful test run, the BMW Group has gained important insights
02:42into how humanoid robots can be used effectively in the future.
02:48Experts are already preparing the findings for future applications
02:51in order to further develop and optimize integration into series production.
