01:22where the armies of the Pandavas and Kauravas stand ready for battle on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
01:30As tensions rise, the blind king Dhritarashtra asks his charioteer Sanjaya
01:36to narrate the events taking place on the battlefield.
01:38Translation, Dhritarashtra said,
01:53O Sanjaya, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do when they assemble for battle in the holy land of Kurukshetra?
02:01Sanjaya begins narrating the scene.
02:04Warriors take their positions.
02:06The sound of conch shells reverberates through the sky.
02:09And the armies stand in formation.
02:11He specifically mentions how Duryodhana approaches his teacher Jhonacharya to discuss the battle strategy.
02:18Verse 10
02:19Aparyaptam tadasmakam balam bhishmabhirakshitam
02:22Paryaptam tvidmetesha balam bhima bhirakshitam
02:26Translation, our army, protected by Bhishma, is unlimited
02:32whereas the army of the Pandavas, protected by Bhima, is limited.
02:37The great warrior Arjuna, whose charioteer is none other than Lord Krishna,
02:43requests him to place their chariot between the two armies
02:46so that he can observe who stands against him in battle.
02:49Verses 21 to 23
02:51Arjuna Uvaj
02:53Translation, Arjuna said,
03:07O Achita Krishna, please place my chariot between the two armies
03:12so that I may see those who desire to fight and with whom I must engage in this battle.
03:17As Arjuna surveys the battlefield, he sees his own relatives, beloved teachers and dear friends
03:24standing on both sides ready to fight.
03:26This sight fills him with sorrow and compassion, leading to a profound moral and emotional crisis.
03:33Verses 28 to 29
03:35Translation, Arjuna said,
03:51O Krishna, seeing my own kinsmen standing before me, eager for battle, my limbs tremble,
03:59my mouth dries up, my body shivers and my hair stands on end, overcome by a sense of futility.
04:06Arjuna sees no value in victory, kingdom, or pleasures if they come at the cost of his loved one's lives.
04:13He expresses his unwillingness to fight, questions the purpose of war, and mourns the destruction it will bring.
04:20Verse 45
04:21Translation, Alas!
04:32What a great sin we are about to commit!
04:34Driven by greed for a kingdom and pleasure, preparing to kill our own kinsmen.
