00:07Anyone who thought that only a minor update was in store will now be proven wrong.
00:12Audi is not only giving its S3 a few visual touches, but is also seriously tweaking the
00:17technical aspects. And let's start with what's happening under the hood.
00:22The S3 is technically similar to the VW Golf R, which alone is enough to cause a stir.
00:27But the real highlight is the farewell to the conventional Haldex all-wheel drive in favor
00:33of the state-of-the-art torque splitter known from the Golf R and the 3 Rupees.
00:40The system allows fully variable power distribution to the rear wheels and ensures agility and rear
00:45heavy nature that has never been felt in an S3 before. However, despite its technical similarity
00:52to the 3 Rupees and the Golf A, the S3 is not equipped with a special drift mode.
00:57But in our eyes, the lack of drift mode does not dampen the joy in any way, because the
01:03new Dynamic Plus driving mode promises a driving experience with a focus on the rear axle and
01:08the sporty ESP engine and transmission that tends towards oversteer and thus significantly
01:13increases the driving pleasure.
01:14And there is also something going on under the bonnet. The 2.0 TFSI gets a power boost and
01:22now delivers 333 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. The improvements allow the S3 to accelerate from
01:300 to 100 km per hour in just 4.7 seconds. It also benefits from improved responsiveness thanks
01:39to a pre-tension turbocharger and an optimized C-bang dual-clutch transmission.
01:45And Audi also shows its innovative side in the chassis.
01:51The use of wishbones with stiffer bearings and pivot bearings, which allow more negative
01:55camber on the front axle, noticeably improves both the steering behavior and the grip in corners.
02:04The standard sports suspension with 15mm lowering is retained, but there is an optional suspension
02:09with adaptive dampers.
02:11Visually, the S3 features a flatter and wider single-spoke grille and new aprons at the front
02:17and rear.
02:19A special highlight is the optional Acropovic titanium sports exhaust system, and 4 new colors
02:24also provide a breath of fresh air in the design.
02:29In the interior, new materials, including dynamica and a technical-looking fabric, as well as
02:34improved decorative elements, significantly enhance the ambience.
02:39And the 10.1-inch infotainment display, Audi's virtual cockpit and an inductive charging option
02:44for smartphones are now standard on board.
02:49When sales start in the second quarter of 2024, the S3 will be available as a sport-back-in sedan,
02:55with prices starting at €55,600.
03:01In view of the wealth of technical innovations and improvements, the price seems justified
03:05as an entry ticket to a new dimension of driving pleasure.
