00:30Hi, I'm Jamie and I'm here to introduce you to the Trident 660, a completely new motorcycle and an exciting addition to Trident's range.
00:41It's fun, it's agile, it has plenty of punch from the three-cylinder engine, it has a class-leading specification of technology and equipment as standard.
00:50And it's incredibly good value with a competitive price and a low cost of ownership.
00:56And as you can see, it's a superb looking machine.
01:00But let's start with the Trident's new engine.
01:03Uniquely for this category, it's a triple.
01:06Why is a triple the best choice?
01:08Well, we believe it literally gives you the best engine characteristics and performance.
01:14It doesn't run out of power at the top end like a twin can, nor do you have to rev it hard like a four to reach the usable power.
01:22Instead, a triple has the advantage of linear delivery.
01:26Right from low down in the rev range, all the way to the red line, giving the perfect balance of low down torque and exhilarating top end power.
01:36Power tops out at 81 PS at 10,250 RPM.
01:41The Trident's peak torque is 64 Nm at 6,250 RPM.
01:46The best part, though, is that 90% of that peak torque is available all the way from 3,600 RPM to 9,750 RPM, giving you effortless acceleration in any gear.
02:00The engine is, of course, fully Euro 5 compliant for low emissions and excellent fuel economy.
02:07The Trident is fully Lambs compliant out of the box for Australia and New Zealand and can easily be adapted to meet European A2 license regulations through an accessory kit.
02:18This is also reversed by your dealer to return the Trident to full power once a full license is gained.
02:26Power delivery is managed by a sophisticated engine management system and ride-by-wire throttle for a responsive feel,
02:35while the slick six-speed gearbox has gear ratios optimized for fun and easy rideability.
02:41The 660 triple engine sounds great, too, with a distinctive deep exhaust note delivered crisply through this compact and minimalistic underslung stainless steel silencer.
02:56This slick approach to design gives the new Trident a completely unique and contemporary look.
03:02From the elegant tank with its sculpted knee cutouts to the lightweight and sporty five-spoke wheels and minimal clean rear end with this swing-arm mounted number plate hanger and indicators.
03:14The new Trident has a host of beautifully integrated design features such as these contrasting painted radiator cowls and aluminium yokes and heel guards.
03:24The fork protectors are body-coloured, fitting neatly into the overall design scheme.
03:28It has premium tapered aluminium handlebars, a great addition not usually found in this category of bike,
03:35and black finish mirrors designed to complement the overall style of the bike.
03:41The aluminium Trident name badge is inset into the fuel tank knee cutouts and carries diamond machine detailing.
03:49There's subtle Triumph branding on the fuel filler cap, handlebar clamp instruments, and in both the headlight and tail light.
03:58The Trident benefits from full LED lighting throughout for great visibility, low maintenance, and optimum lighting performance.
04:06As you can see, the compact rear light is contoured to match the shape of the tail unit, while the front is uniquely styled just for the Trident.
04:15The LED indicators are self-canceling and can be upgraded with even more minimal accessory fit scrolling LED options.
04:24There are four striking colour schemes available for the new Trident.
04:27This, the silver ice and Diablo red with its contemporary tank logo, which also comes in a matte black and silver ice combination.
04:35And two sophisticated, single-toned crystal white and sapphire black schemes.
04:41The overall poise and dynamic stance of the new Trident 660 is unmistakable, and I can tell you it handles as well as it looks, just like a Triumph should.
04:51The new Trident's an agile, sure-footed, and easy-handling bike with precise braking and sporty, yet comfortable suspension.
05:00It has a light steering weight that inspires confidence, and with the Michelin Road 5 tyres, delivers excellent road-holding in both wet and dry conditions.
05:11In fact, the Trident has been designed to set a new benchmark for handling in this class.
05:16It has premium, show-upside-down front forks, and show a preload adjustable rear monoshock for a controlled and comfortable ride.
05:25The 17-inch wheels are lightweight cast aluminium, adding to the bike's exceptional agility.
05:31Braking performance is excellent too, thanks to Nissan two-piston calipers and twin 310mm front discs.
05:38And also, there's a Nissan single-piston caliper on the rear.
05:42ABS and switchable traction control are standard, adding to rider confidence and safety.
05:48The new Trident is an extremely comfortable bike too, with rider and pillion ergonomics specifically developed to make it ideal for everyday riding and commuting.
05:58It has a low seat height of 805mm, plus a very narrow profile, giving a confident standover position and making it easily accessible to riders of all heights.
06:09The ratio between handlebars, seat and foot pegs is optimised for a relaxed yet sporty riding position, suitable for everyday use.
06:19It has a span-adjustable brake lever, plus a slip and assist clutch for a light action, reducing rider fatigue, especially in heavy traffic or the stop-start of a city.
06:29When it comes to rider tech, the Trident specifications is class-leading.
06:34This includes these brand new multifunctional instruments with TFT display.
06:40These cleverly styled instruments provide all rider information in a compact and uncluttered design.
06:46They've been designed specifically to integrate seamlessly with the accessory fit MyTriumph connectivity system, enabling turn-by-turn navigation, GoPro control and phone and music interaction.
06:59All of these functions can be accessed via the switch gear and are clearly displayed on the TFT screen for easy rider interaction while riding.
07:08As well as ABS and switchable traction control, the category-leading rider electronics package includes two riding modes, road and rain.
07:17These adjusts the throttle and traction control maps for maximum rider control in all riding conditions.
07:24The ride-by-wire throttle control ensures a crisp and precise throttle response at all times.
07:29As well as being competitively priced, the Trident benefits from a class-leading 10,000 miles or 16,000 km service interval, helping to keep the ongoing cost of ownership low.
07:41There's an extensive list of genuine Triumph accessories available for the Trident, allowing you to tailor the bike to your own preferences.
07:49These have been developed alongside the bike itself and subjected to the same rigorous quality and testing processes.
07:56As well as a MyTriumph connectivity system mentioned earlier, options range from quick-release luggage to internally wired heated grips and under-seat USB charger.
08:07There are also accessory fit frame and engine cover protectors as well as a Triumph shift assist up and down quick shifter.
08:14For your pillion, there are ergonomically designed grab handles which integrate neatly into the rear bodywork.
08:20Plus, for added security, there's an accessory fit alarm and, in Europe, a tracker.
08:26So there you have it.
08:28The all-new Trident 660.
08:30Triple-powered, performance, class-leading tech and spec, class-leading handling.
08:36And all at an incredibly competitive price.
08:39In essence, pure fun, guaranteed.
08:50Hi, I'm Jamie and this is the brand new Triumph Trident 660.
09:10A completely new motorcycle and an exciting addition to Triumph's 2021 range.
09:16It's fun, it's agile, it has plenty of punch from the triple engine, it has a class-leading specification of technology and equipment as standard.
09:25And it's incredibly good value, with a competitive price and a low cost of ownership.
09:30Today, I'm going to tell you all about the Trident's unique 660cc triple engine.
09:36First up, what makes a triple the best choice?
09:40Well, we believe for a bike like this, the three-cylinder engine configuration delivers the perfect balance of low-down torque, exhilarating mid-range and top-end power.
09:51It doesn't run out of power at the top end like a twin can, nor do you have to wait until higher in the rev range for punchy acceleration like some four-cylinders.
10:01Instead, a triple has the advantage of a responsive and controllable linear torque delivery, right from low down in the rev range all the way through to the red line.
10:12The new Trident is the only bike in its class to have a triple engine with all the advantages this brings.
10:17It's based on Triumph's incredibly reliable and well-proven 675cc triple platform, which has been fitted to over 125,000 motorcycles since its introduction in 2005,
10:30including the iconic Daytona 675 and class-defining street triple.
10:34For the Trident, this is a new and unique version that has 67 brand-new parts designed to optimize the performance for this style of bike.
10:43Maximum power of 81 PS arrives at 10,250 RPM, while the torque curve peaks at 64 Newton-meters and 6,250 RPM.
10:55As you can see from the dyno curve, 90% of this peak torque is available all the way from 3,600 RPM to 9,750 RPM,
11:05giving you effortless acceleration in any gear, and that's really unique in this category of motorcycles.
11:13The new Trident's engine is of course fully Euro 5 compliant, giving low emissions and excellent fuel economy.
11:19Power delivery is controlled by a sophisticated engine management system,
11:23with a ride-by-wire throttle control for a crisp and precise throttle response at all times.
11:30There is an advanced traction control system and two distinct riding modes, rain and road.
11:36Each riding mode has unique throttle and traction control maps, ensuring optimum performance in all riding conditions.
11:44Throughout the Trident design process, engine mass and inertia have been minimized,
11:48further improving the responsiveness of the engine.
11:51Power is delivered to the rear wheel through a slick six-speed gearbox,
11:55with gear ratios and final drive tailored for fun and easy ride-ability.
12:01The slip and assist clutch gives a lovely lightweight lever feel,
12:05and allows for maximum control when pulling away.
12:08There's also the option to have the accessory fit Triumph shift assist,
12:12which allows for quick and easy clutchless up and down gear shifts,
12:16for effortless city riding and spirited open road fun.
12:19The Triumph triple has bags of character too, with a rich, deep and distinctive sound.
12:24That many triple fans worldwide absolutely love.
12:28Despite ever-increasing restrictions on noise and emissions,
12:32the Triumph engineers worked incredibly hard to ensure this is the best sounding bike in the class.
12:38Using a combination of computer simulations and expert knowledge to minimize any unwanted noises on the bike,
12:45there were over 60 design iterations and 100 noise tests,
12:49until they were happy they had that sound.
12:51If you're an A2 license holder, there's an accessory fit conversion kit to make the bike A2 compliant.
13:00Your dealer will fit a new throttle grip and load a specific engine tube,
13:05and the whole process can be easily reversed when you get your full license.
13:09A fantastic and charismatic engine is only one part of the story though.
13:13When Triumph set out to design the new Triumph, developing a beautiful looking bike with class-leading handling and a benchmark setting level of technology and specification were key goals too.
13:24And in all of these, the Triumph absolutely delivers.
13:28So there you have it, the new Triumph Triumph 660 and your triple advantage.
13:33Triple powered performance, class-leading tech and spec, and class-leading handling.
13:38All at an incredibly competitive price.
