00:03Today, we're taking a detailed look at the eventful history and promising future of Stellantis Dundee Engine Complex.

00:21The foundation stone for the plant was laid in April 2003, at that time still part of the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance,
00:29a joint project between Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Daimler-Kressler.
00:34The plant was completed just one year later and production began in the North Hall in October 2005.
00:41The South Hall followed in November 2006.
00:44With an investment of $179 million, the conversion for the economical 1.4L engine developed together with Fiat began in December 2009.
00:54It went into series production from November 2010.
00:58A further $150 million were invested in preparation for future engines.
01:04In January 2012, the plant was officially renamed Dundee Engine Brand.
01:10In May 2013, production of the 2.4L Tigershark engine began,
01:15for which over $40 million was invested in machinery for crankshafts, heads, and blocks the following August.
01:24In 19, the plant was modernized again to accommodate the Pentastar engine family.
01:30A total of $119 million was invested in the facility for this purpose.
01:34With an investment of over $99 million, production of a new 1.6L turbocharged engine with direct injection and hybrid capability began in 2025.
01:46The first of its kind in North America.
01:49Conversions to produce battery carriers for the STLA platform have been underway since September 2024.
