00:35journey and everything so how do you feel about the reception of all these things and um just from
00:39the fans of of everything happening in 2025 yeah the diary of a ceo thing i'm a fan of the show
00:46anyway like i i watch it quite a lot i watch it quite a lot on youtube um so i was interested in
00:52going on um but it's something i'm really proud of man really proud of i definitely spoke really
00:56candidly i don't think i've ever really kind of gone to those kind of depths um but um yeah it
01:02was a really kind of comfortable and enjoyable interview so yeah i'm really really proud of that
01:06really proud of that i'm it was cool to give people a chance to see that side to me i suppose
01:11yeah you know because it's harder to do that in like a conventional interview or whatever
01:15um away from home was amazing man it was really really amazing um i've had like everything's kind
01:22of come together so quick in terms of like you know like the tour getting built and and the album
01:27and and the singles and all these decisions and away from home so i was pretty stressed out about
01:33it but it went it went amazingly i was really really proud of it um definitely one of my favorite days
01:38of the year always so yeah that was and cooperstown really cool place like it's not kind of place i
01:44imagine i would have visited outside of the context of you know a show so really cool place as well
01:49so yeah good times man good times cannot complain yeah and it sounds like you're so proud of the new
01:54single and the upcoming project i mean people are loving the song and sounds so fun especially for
01:58like the end of summer i know we're in fall now but um yeah just talk about the song and like the um
02:04obviously working with nico more too how is that collaborating process
02:07oh he's brilliant man nico's so good um it's vital for me like like i've got to have good
02:14relationships with the people that i'm working with and and and that is an obvious thing to say
02:19but i'm really not someone who can like play the game or like turn it on like that i have to really you
02:24know have good relations especially with my producer um he's brilliant he brings out the best in me
02:31uh for sure but also he's like wacky he's like kind of crazy in in like the best way um and and that's
02:38kind of reflected in some of his productions definitely across the record um you can you can
02:44kind of hear the wackiness which i'm i'm really proud of and adds depth to the record um so yeah
02:50someone i'm really really thankful to have spent so much time working with definitely and also getting
02:54to know personally he's good guy too yeah for sure i love it you know you can't really fake it when
02:58you're making music it's always going to come from you know who you are as a person and from the heart
03:02and i feel like that's part of where you grew up like growing up in doncaster and later becoming the
03:06global star that we know how does doncaster louis still show up in your life in music
03:11massively i think like i i credit that place to a lot of who i am like definitely like my morals like
03:19yeah um yeah i think also like my lyrics like i think there's there's the lyrics are naturally a
03:27bit more grounded and a bit direct i would say that's a more northern approach for sure uh although
03:33i've definitely tried to play around a bit more with metaphor on this record um but yeah i think i
03:39think it's doncaster is drenched in everything that i do definitely yeah i love that was there
03:46any other song you battled with putting out first to introduce this new project i mean lemonade feels
03:50like a great introduction but was there any other close seconds that you're like this is making it
03:54tough yeah this is the first time we've had that because i i will say you know sometimes you write
04:00songs with the intention of it being the first single but but previously on the on the last two
04:04records i didn't really have another contender it was just the first single it's not always the best
04:11mindset to be going into a new record um but this record there was actually two or three that could
04:16have made the first single so that's the first time i've had that kind of competition for first single
04:21so uh hopefully that's testament to the the quality of the record um yeah this is probably going to
04:27follow up with after this uh i'm i'm excited people take that too oh my gosh i love that and i love how
04:34you're bouncing around to record this project i mean especially in costa rica and the way the
04:38environment kind of influenced the tone can you describe a moment when uh from those sessions that
04:43really changed the song or an album for you i think it's it's like the pace and the way of life
04:49for those places you know like especially when you come away from writing in places like london and
04:53and big cities um there's just a real freedom there and also like like the the phrase over
05:01there it's like puro vida and it means just like you know like good life people say it to everyone
05:06like even like you know in passing it's just a really really like good good vibe over there and i think
05:13like i i i'm definitely feeling really good in myself anyway at the moment but just surrounding
05:18myself in that environment which felt like you know really really beautiful to look at but um
05:24also really like free uh hopefully that comes across in the record yeah well i can't wait to hear more
05:31of it and it feels like i don't know does it feel like a long time away for you it's like we got a few
05:35months still is it like getting the itch for it to be out i i am i am i'm always kind of torn at this
05:43time like like half of me is like really excited to get out and the other half i kind of enjoy that
05:50it's just mine for now i kind of enjoy just having it for these last few months before you know i give
05:55it out to everyone because everything's finished right or are you like a last minute tweaker no no i
06:00mean i would be if i could be but you know there's deadlines for vinyls and yeah just to call boring
06:06stuff yeah exactly so we're all locked in so i'm really excited i feel i feel really really proud of it
06:13yeah and you should be proud of like obviously the songwriting and how you've talked about
06:17wanting it to feel real and not hollywood contrived um how do you balance writing for yourself versus
06:22writing for the audience uh i don't truthfully i consider my audience in absolutely everything i do
06:32except for when i'm writing lyrics i mean there might be there might be an occasion where maybe you
06:37write something that might allude to the fans and you want them to kind of feel that ownership in a lyric
06:43but nine times out of ten i'm writing from personal experience in the hope that you know
06:48there'll be something relatable enough i mean that's the thing with these kind of stories you
06:52know lyrically you want to be direct but not too direct you want to leave room for a little
06:57interpretation and a little room for people to be able to relate you know if you speak about something
07:02people can't really relate no it makes a ton of sense is there any songs on uh the upcoming release
07:07that you surprise you either in the sense of how it came together or how it made you feel once you
07:13finished yeah there was a song i i went i went outside for a cigarette um we just finished one song
07:19and then i came back in and some of the references we're listening to we're like really really weird
07:24really left not really something i would ever considered for this record and the song that that
07:31that came out of that um which is a song called sunflowers i'll say uh that's the song i'm really
07:38excited for people to hear because that that even surprised me and and and that's what this record
07:43as a whole has been about and will continue to be about is kind of trying to push myself and pushing
07:49the boundaries like that and i think that song is an example of that i love that is that the song you'd
07:54say you're like the most proud of from the this album it's the one that caught me off guard the most
07:59that surprised me um and and yeah but it's a bit this is probably the first time i felt like this
08:07but it's it's it's a bit like your kids you don't really want to pick a favorite i can i kind of love
08:11them all yeah hey that's that's the good parent answer you have to you know um if you could send a
08:18voice memo to your 18 year old self not to make this so deep but like what would you send in that
08:22iphone voice note it can be as casual as deep as you'd want what would you say to 18 year old louie
08:26buy some bitcoin right exactly geez man yeah that'd be a move um no i i normally just say we've go
08:38we've it's something i've always challenged myself to do but um trust your god just trust you got as
08:45much as possible and i know that's like uh that's an obvious thing to say but it sometimes it's a
08:50challenge listen to it you're right so true you ever see that dude who bought like a pizza with some
08:54bitcoin and you're like what are you doing and he had no idea yeah yeah that could have been me
08:59maybe it was no idea um so i can't again i can't wait for your fans to get this album and obviously
09:07it's been um such a fun journey to see you on your solo path what does success mean to you now
09:12compared to what it meant maybe in a group i can take much more ownership obviously being of it just
09:17being on my own there's there's obviously only so much ownership you can take on and accept as part
09:23of the group uh and rightfully so um but like this this record and this sounds like the fucking thing
09:30that you say to sell the record it it isn't i'm not saying it for that reason but um this record is a
09:37real step in in that direction and in in terms of what i deem as success um just because i can feel
09:43myself as i said pushing boundaries and and i'm coming from a much more confident standpoint standpoint
09:49so um yeah overall that that that excites me yeah what do you think the biggest contributor to that
09:56confidence was is it just reps or just time as it goes on i think the tour shows i think you know
10:03there's there's there's so many different parts of the job and that was always a vitally important
10:09one for me but until i went and did it like i didn't know for sure that i'd be able to deliver
10:13a show on my own and and especially i you know i didn't think it was be as fun as it as it has been
10:19so those tour shows definitely have given me a lot of confidence a lot of confidence i think i think i
10:25needed to do that to to kind of be where i'm at now yeah it's fun to see you find your voice and like
10:31that you know identity as a solo artist back when you were in one direction and things were so fast and
10:36big was there ever a moment though you realized that like oh this would be my sound or what i
10:40would look like as a solo artist and do you think that's what you've grown into no i'm trying to find
10:46the right um metaphor for it but like it wasn't even like a devil on my shoulder like i like like
10:53when i was in the band i just had my blinkers on and like i could i wouldn't i could never see past
10:59the band in fact i don't think i would have given myself credit to be like what oh yeah so the
11:06whites at that point i just i'd never kind of i know i went on to the x factor and auditioned on
11:11my own but really that was just my shot at the lottery man that's what it was felt like at the
11:15time yeah so yeah yeah no it's great um i know we can't talk too much about it but getting to work
11:22again with zane on this upcoming netflix project congratulations i mean just with what you can
11:27how fun was it to just work in some capacity again and it being a road trip as we kind of got
11:32some details about it um who has the aux cord what are you guys playing on a road trip like that
11:36well the annoying thing about those kind of shows is you've got like the clearance on the songs
11:41you're listening to stock music like your own songs which which which actually you know it's
11:47all right that is all right um but yeah that was cool man that was cool yeah that's so fun well
